Looking at the team, he didn't know anyone besides Leon.
And looking at the way they are assigned, the team is based on a specific value, such as the total not exceeding or falling short of a certain threshold to make it even for everyone participating. If the total number of points in a group is 25 thousand, then the higher your points, the lower your teammates, and since I was rank 15, slightly above half, I got Leon, who was in the top 10, and two low rankers.
Solace wondered how it was for his friends.
Vivi just moments ago left to find her team.
See, the whole stadium had many entry points to the arena. And each team was given a different room to rest for a moment.
While he was lost in his thoughts, the door opened with a thud.
Three students entered the room.
First was a girl with jade black hair. Her dirt-colored eyes shone brightly. Her gaze seemed to be piercing, as if no secrets could hide from her eyes.
Next was a timid boy. By the looks, he was very thin. He looked very nervous
The last to enter was a boy who seemed as straight as a wall. And strong as a rock. A noble posture emanated from him.
He was shaped like a mountain.
Leon, despite the intimidating look, was a jolly guy.
As soon as they entered, Solace stood up and greeted them with a friendly smile.
"Solace," he said, extending his hand. "And you are?"
The girl seemingly just stared at him, and the boy avoided eye contact.
The hand stood extended for a moment, no one seeming to decide to return the greeting. It was awkward. But then, seeing the tension, Leon moved forward and took the hand.
"Leon Hartmann." He said, then pointed towards the girl, "She is Bru Stacy."
Then he pointed towards the nervous boy. "And this is Pons. We just met outside."
Bru, who was just staring at him, just realized that she had zoned out and then, in a fit of panic, voiced
"I'm so sorry! I didn't realize."
Oh, so she was just zoned. But why?
Bru, who just apologized. Raised her hand, scratched her temple.
"If you don't mind me asking," she asked, "are you wearing an artifact that hides your threads and identity?"
What? How did she even know? Solace thought
Sensing that Solace was taking too long to answer, she immediately tried to backtrack
"Of course, if you don't want to share-"
"I am," said Solace. He wasn't too keen on hiding the fact that he was wearing an artifact simply because. In this world, nobles and sometimes even common people wear low-tiered artifacts to hide their threads and power. This was because if by chance your opponent knew of your thread, they would probably try to counter you by methods that could be your weakness.
"But how did you know?" he asked
Of course, by now it was clear that she had Thread of Eye. But still, he asked her just to keep the conversation going.
Expecting his question, Bru folded her hands, voicing
"You see, my powers are related to perception, clairvoyance, and revealing truth or illusion."
"That is also why I was zoned out. I was dazed by how powerful the artifact you are using is. It didn't let me get any information."
Bru, who seemed nervous just a moment ago, now stood proud.
"Ohh," I exclaimed, and then I looked at the nervous-looking boy named Pons. "What about him? Is he okay?"
Pons was still refusing to make eye contact.
Defending him, Bru once again stepped forward. "He is mute; he can't speak."
She continued, "Many people make fun of him; that's why he is usually nervous around strangers." She waited a bit, then added, "But he can speak, just not through his mouth."
Just then, Solace and Leon heard a voice speaking in their heads.
'H-hello, I'm Pons. N-Nice to meet you.'
Leon then looked at Pons with a bright smile. His voice was deep yet elegant and noble.
"Don't worry, friend. Nobody's going to bully you here."
To which Solace too nodded.
After that, Solace and others exchanged some pleasantries and also talked about their role in the team.
So here was the situation,
Solace was on the offense since no one had an overall offensive ability like his.
There is a phrase that perfectly describes Solace's capabilities: jack of all trades, master of none.
Despite chains being used for attack, it isn't an ability that could directly damage or create offensive pressure. People whose abilities are body strengthening can easily bypass these chains. They could either break the chains themselves or drag me alongside the chain.
That being said, I am not a full-fledged support guy either. I can't debuff enemies nor buff my allies. The only support-type abilities I have are [Flash] and [Still]. Even then, flash depends on whether there is a light source nearby.
Defense is not my forte either. I have [Cancel], which could be both defensive or offensive depending on the use, but it doesn't help against physical attacks, and it can only be used once per day.
But I decided to use it as my trump card and not to reveal it if possible.
The more he thought about it, the more his abilities seemed okay-ish.
Wasn't he supposed to be a transmigrator? Isn't he supposed to get crazy powerful abilities?
Where are my world-defying abilities? He asked himself.
All I got is this useless system that is just good for history lessons and blackmailing me into these quests.
Forget it, why am I even arguing? He told himself
Returning to the main topic
The rest of the team wasn't too crazy powerful either.
First was Pons
What Solace understood from their explanation was that Pons basically could mark people and incite some emotion in them. He can also telepathically talk to anyone in 4 meters of range and needs to mark people for long-distance telepathy.
He could also use daggers.
Next was Bru
She basically had the Sharingan of this universe. She could predict movements from one's muscle contractions. Not only that, but she could see their weaknesses and their abilities.
Her eyesight was on the level of Lily.
So she was a mix between support and scout. She also used a rapier, although she was not as efficient as noble children.
And lastly, our only defense. Leon.
He was capable of forming a defensive [rock wall] to [stone bullets] for attacks.
But there was a problem, you see: when you manipulate existing material, you spend less essence. But when you manifest or create something from nothing, it consumes a lot more essence. So, despite having an offensive attack, the team needed defense, so we decided not to use it in a default strategy. But more when we are forced to show all of our cards.
And so Team 7 of the Hidden Leaf was ready for their first battle.
