"How was school?" Henry asks, partly to divert the attention but mostly because he genuinely wants to know how his son's day went.
"Fine," Skye says simply. Then his eyes wander around the office, wide with curiosity. "This whole place is so cool," he sighs, the words sounding far too grown for his age.
Henry and Riley both chuckle, watching as Skye lets his backpack slide off his shoulder and hurries toward Henry's desk, climbing onto the office chair like it's the most fascinating thing he's ever seen.
"When you grow up enough," Henry says, amusement softening his tone, "you'll work here and let the old men rest while you bring food to the table."
"Old men?" Skye repeats, a laugh escaping his mouth, the phrase sounding funnier the more he says it.
"Yes," Henry confirms with a grin. "We're getting old… but we have no worries because we've got an able son."
