Skill points?
Skill points!?!
Kevin stared wide-eyed at the two skill points, lost in thought for a long time.
Before this, Kevin's skill points were not directly displayed; he had to rely on his own feeling to allocate them.
But now, the number of skill points was clearly visible before Kevin, though he didn't know why.
More importantly, Kevin had new skill points!
And there were two of them!
But the question was, where did these two skill points come from?
Kevin meticulously recalled what he had done yesterday, his eyes slightly narrowing.
If there was one memorable thing he did yesterday, it was saving a boatload of undocumented immigrants while testing his abilities.
And killing a group of gang members.
So, were the skill points acquired from that?
Killing... or saving people?
According to a gamer's mindset, killing was very likely a way to gain skill points.
But considering his current identity, Kevin also thought saving people might be possible. He would have to test both methods to confirm.
However, no matter what, this was good news.
At least Kevin no longer had to worry about not getting skill points in the future.
Whoo-hoo! Yes!!!
Kevin cheered internally. He had settled his future image problem, secured ample time for development, and now gained new skill points.
It was truly a multi-blessing, and Kevin's steps even became lighter.
Approaching the conference room, Kevin became serious again and strode into the room.
Today was The Seven's routine meeting, and also meant to welcome Starlight, the newcomer, so many people had already gathered in the conference room.
Not to mention Starlight, who had arrived early, Maeve, A-Train, Black Noir, and Translucent were all there.
Only Homelander was late, and Kevin had no idea what he was doing.
After Kevin entered, everyone's gaze turned to him. The others' gazes were unremarkable, just as before, indifferent to Kevin's arrival, as if he were an dispensable presence in The Seven.
Starlight, however, looked at Kevin a couple more times and gave him a very kind smile.
Suppressing the urge to roll his eyes, Kevin sat in his seat, closed his eyes, and said nothing.
It was after he sat down that A-Train, with a hint of teasing, said to Kevin:
"Yo, went out crime-fighting last night?"
"Mhm."
The news had already been published; the morning news and newspapers all reported Kevin's heroic deeds from last night, so there was no need to hide anything from A-Train.
A-Train asked in surprise:
"The company still arranged activities late at night?"
"Yeah, I wonder if they'll give overtime pay."
Kevin mentioned it casually, not revealing that his actions last night were not at the company's behest.
A-Train scoffed:
"You still care about that little bit of overtime pay?"
"Even a mosquito's leg is still meat..."
Kevin lounged lazily in his chair, a posture that made familiar people look at him a few more times.
They felt that today's Kevin was somewhat different from usual; if they had to say, he seemed to have become more casual.
They couldn't quite pinpoint how exactly, they just sensed that Deep had changed, but couldn't articulate where the change was.
Kevin didn't pay attention to their gazes. While waiting for Homelander to arrive, Kevin was still considering his next skill allocation.
Two more skill points—not many, not few. In Kevin's entire skill tree, not counting the next tier of skills, there were still two skills left unallocated.
Two skill points would be just enough to level up both the remaining Super Lungs and Aquatic Summoning skills to Lv1.
Or, he could upgrade Accelerated Healing from Lv1 to Lv2.
But Kevin didn't dare to allocate them randomly.
First, he wasn't sure if there was an upper limit to skill point acquisition. If there was, and he couldn't respec later, his strength might be capped at a certain level, unable to improve.
Second, after allocating so many skills, Kevin's subsequent skills were hidden in a fog, not yet unlocked.
Kevin knew this was due to missing prerequisites, and these prerequisites were likely related to a specific skill in a certain branch.
The root skills of the skill tree extended into three directions of passive skills.
Then, these three directions of passive skills extended into more active and passive skills.
If the skill tree truly followed game mechanics, then to delve deeper into these three directions, at least one skill would need to reach Lv3.
The reason for Lv3 was that, among Kevin's three passive skills, besides Underwater Breathing starting at max level, the lowest level for the other two was Lv3.
Supe Physique was something Kevin later upgraded to Lv4.
So Kevin's idea was to first level up one of the extended skills to Lv3 to see if it could unlock more skills.
However, upgrading from Lv2 to Lv3 required four skill points.
Kevin was still short by two.
"Oh? It seems everyone has arrived."
As Kevin pondered how to allocate his next skill points, a slightly sunny voice came from the conference room doorway.
Hearing this voice, Kevin's heart stirred, and he looked up.
A hero dressed in a blue hero uniform, with a star-spangled banner draped behind him, was walking towards them with his hands behind his back.
He wore a hearty smile on his face, looking utterly righteous. He smiled at every hero present, appearing as if he was very easy to talk to.
But upon seeing him, Kevin's heart couldn't help but pound.
The leader of The Seven, currently the strongest Supe in this world, and also this world's Superman, Homelander, had finally arrived at the conference room.
The Homelander before him was not much different from the Homelander Kevin remembered from the TV series.
His image was excellent; if someone unfamiliar with the inside story met him for the first time, they would probably think this guy seemed like a good person.
But what he was truly like, Kevin, having watched The Boys, knew very well.
Kevin remembered seeing a description of Homelander online once.
A giant baby with Superman's powers.
Kevin felt this description perfectly matched Homelander's personality and his actions.
This guy was a giant baby, lacking love, craving love, yet extremely arrogant, brutal, and completely self-centered.
Without proper education in childhood, and no one to correct him if he went astray as an adult, he would become like Homelander is now.
And even more terrifying, he possessed Superman's strength.
This was also why Kevin didn't want to truly confront Homelander right now.
Kevin wasn't sure if his Lv4 Supe Physique could withstand Homelander's heat vision.
"Well, I never planned to go against Homelander. What happens in this world is none of my business. I just want to earn enough retirement money, then play games and watch movies until I die of old age..."
Kevin muttered to himself.
This was his dream before he transmigrated, and it was still his dream now.
But having said that...
Homelander's occasional glances towards Kevin made Kevin a little uneasy.
"You can talk all you want, but why do you keep staring at me?"
"I don't think I've provoked you recently—"
Just as Kevin thought this, he suddenly remembered what happened last night. Thinking about how those gang members mentioned Homelander before they died, his heart couldn't help but sink.
It seemed Kevin had indeed provoked Homelander.
