"Don't let anyone in here. You can manage at least that much, can't you?"
Zalyric stepped out of the chamber where Rowan was recuperating. The moment the door clicked shut behind him, he turned to the five knights stationed outside. His gaze swept over them utterly merciless as he delivered his command.
"Understood, Your Majesty. We will do our best." The knights bowed in unison, fists to their chests with their expressions tightening under the weight of his presence.
"I expect no mistakes." Zalyric's voice dropped lower, colder. "He's sleeping. Make sure no one disturbs his rest, otherwise it'll be your heads. Don't give me a reason to shed blood this early in the morning."
Though they were accustomed to their ruler's ruthless tone, a ripple of fear traveled through the group. Several swallowed hard, their backs stiffening even deeper into their bows.
