Chapter 140: Tsunade's Reward
"See you next time," Hoshikawa said, one by one, to Kurenai Yuhi and the others. Might Guy, who was unconscious, was taken to Konoha Hospital by his father, Might Duy.
Hoshikawa turned around and looked at the stands. Most people had already left, including Hiruzen Sarutobi and Fugaku Uchiha. He quickly found Tsunade and Minato Namikaze.
"Hoshikawa ! Over here!" Kushina Uzumaki noticed him and waved. Hoshikawa walked up the steps and onto the stands.
"Congratulations on getting first place," Minato said with a smile.
"Thank you." Hoshikawa looked at Tsunade and blinked. Aren't you going to say anything? Tsunade just glared at him.
"You guys chat," Kushina said with a smile. "Minato and I will be leaving now. We don't want to disturb you two." With that, she pulled Minato away.
"You did well," Tsunade said, her face serious. "But don't get arrogant. Chūnin is just the beginning."
"So, where's my reward?" Hoshikawa asked, extending his hand.
"There is none," Tsunade said, slapping his hand. "Why would you get a reward for something as minor as the Chūnin Exams?"
"I got first place!" Hoshikawa said, trying to be reasonable. "And I even used the Mystical Palm Technique at the end!"
"Oh really?" Tsunade's lips curled up. "You only used it once during the entire Chūnin Exams. It's already an act of my kindness that I'm not punishing you."
Hoshikawa 's gaze instinctively moved down, glancing at her "kindness." He only realized what had happened after he had finished looking. Whoops, I triggered the keyword.
"You're just trying to get out of it," Hoshikawa pouted. "Aren't you afraid I'll find a new sensei?"
"Go on, try it," Tsunade said, her eyes narrowing as she clenched her fist.
"Ahem, I was just kidding," Hoshikawa quickly said, a little scared. "I can't find another female ninja as pretty as you in all of Konoha! Of course I won't change senseis!"
"You cheeky kid." Tsunade suddenly smiled. "Fine, I'll let you off the hook." She liked what he said. No matter what a woman's personality was like, she would always care about being called beautiful.
"Thank you, Sensei," Hoshikawa said, changing the subject. "So, where's my reward?"
"What kind of reward do you want?" Tsunade said, stroking his cheek. "You're so old, and you're still acting like a child."
"Then why are you still treating me like one?" Hoshikawa asked, a little annoyed.
"Because I'm your sensei," Tsunade said with an even wider smile.
"Yes, Sensei," Hoshikawa said helplessly.
"As for your reward..." Tsunade looked at him, and her heart skipped a beat. Up close, this kid is way too good-looking. She suddenly lifted her foot and kissed him on the forehead.
Hoshikawa froze. As Tsunade got closer, his vision was filled with white. In the middle of the snowy white, there was an abyss that drew his attention, allowing her to surprise-kiss him easily.
"I'll give you a lucky kiss to change your luck," Tsunade said, turning around. "Let's go home." She pursed her lips, feeling a strange sensation in her heart. She had kissed Hoshikawa 's forehead before, but this time was different.
"Sensei," Hoshikawa said, coming back to his senses and catching up to her. "This reward is too simple, isn't it? Did you not prepare a gift at all?"
"It's not a big deal. Why would I prepare a gift?" Tsunade huffed. "Anyway, I've already given you a reward. Can you give it back?"
"I suppose I could," Hoshikawa said subconsciously.
"Do you dare?" Tsunade stopped and looked at him, a smile on her face.
"I really dare!" Hoshikawa said angrily, hearing her contempt. Tsunade was taken aback. That strange feeling returned. She quickly pushed it down and continued walking.
"Wait for me!" Hoshikawa quickly followed her. "Why are you walking so fast?"
"I'm hungry!" Tsunade glared at him.
Is this the legendary 'too poor to eat'? Hoshikawa chased the weird thought out of his head. "Sensei, what do you want to eat?"
"Meat," Tsunade said bluntly.
"No problem," Hoshikawa said with a smile. "I'll make sure you're satisfied."
Back at home, Tsunade immediately changed her demeanor. She kicked off her high-heeled sandals, walked barefoot into the living room, and collapsed onto the couch. Hoshikawa looked away and shook his head, putting the sandals on the shoe rack. He walked over to the couch. From his angle, he could only see her exposed legs and the pale soles of her feet turned outward.
"I'll go make dinner," Hoshikawa said before heading to the kitchen. Since Tsunade wanted meat, he decided to make tempura. Half an hour later, he came out of the kitchen.
"Looks good, and smells great," Tsunade said, walking to the dining table and nodding in satisfaction.
You smell better. Hoshikawa caught a faint scent from her. He instinctively looked at her beautiful, delicate face. Her skin was fair and dewy, without a single wrinkle. Is this the effect of the Strength of a Hundred Seal? As Hoshikawa 's mind wandered, he heard a knock on the door. He raised an eyebrow. Who would be visiting at this time?
"It's Jiraiya," Tsunade said, her smile disappearing. "He's probably here to say goodbye."
"I'll get it," Hoshikawa said, walking to the door and opening it. "Jiraiya-ojisan."
"You did a great job in the Chūnin Exams," Jiraiya said, patting his shoulder shamelessly. "You remind me of myself back in the day!"
"Didn't you get your butt kicked by Orochimaru back in the day?" Tsunade's voice came from the living room.
"Slander!" Jiraiya said, embarrassed but still putting on a brave face. "Tsunade, you've got it backward. It was Orochimaru who got his butt kicked!"
"Oh really? Should I ask Orochimaru to come over and confirm?" Tsunade said, picking up her chopsticks and putting a piece of shrimp tempura in her mouth.
"Orochimaru's a busy man. We shouldn't bother him," Jiraiya said with a laugh, quickly changing the subject. "Did you make this tempura?"
"No," Tsunade said casually. "Hoshikawa made it."
"You have a great apprentice," Jiraiya said, looking at Hoshikawa . "He's like Minato."
"He's not," Tsunade said, shaking her head. In her eyes, Minato was a good student. Hoshikawa was a clever and rebellious troublemaker. But she liked the latter more. The former was a bit boring and didn't match her personality.
"Well, at least they can both cook," Jiraiya said after a moment.
"That's true," Tsunade agreed. Hoshikawa sat beside her, listening and eating. They were old teammates reminiscing, so there was nothing for him to talk about.
"What do you want?" Tsunade asked, getting back to the point.
"Nothing much," Jiraiya said with a smile. "I'm leaving tomorrow, so I came to say goodbye today."
"I figured," Tsunade said, shaking her head.
"I can't help it," Jiraiya said with a sigh. "It's all for the peace of the ninja world. As long as I can find the..."
"That's enough. Stop talking about your so-called Child of Prophecy," Tsunade interrupted.
"I will find him!" Jiraiya said with a determined look. Tsunade wanted to say something, but in the end, she said nothing.
After lunch, Jiraiya said his goodbyes and left.
"Hoshikawa ," Tsunade said, leaning against the kitchen door and watching him wash the dishes. "Do you really think there's a so-called Child of Prophecy in this world?"
"Sensei, do you believe in it?" Hoshikawa asked without looking up.
"No," Tsunade said with a chuckle. "If I believed in it, I'd be running around the ninja world looking for him, just like Jiraiya."
"Then I don't believe in it either," Hoshikawa said casually.
"I'm asking for your opinion," Tsunade said, glaring at him. "Why are you so obedient all of a sudden?"
"I've always been obedient," Hoshikawa said, putting down the bowl, wiping his hands, and looking at her. "My opinion is that instead of relying on others, it's better to rely on yourself."
"That's a good point. I like it," Tsunade said, Stunned for a moment. Then she laughed.
"It's all thanks to you, Sensei," Hoshikawa said smoothly.
"Such a smooth talker," Tsunade said, her beautiful eyes sparkling. "As a reward, you can come with me to the casino this afternoon."
"Isn't that a reward for you?" Hoshikawa asked, a little speechless.
"If I say it's a reward for you, then it is," Tsunade said, blocking the door with her leg. "If you don't agree, you're not leaving this kitchen today."
Is this a weird rule of some kind? Hoshikawa suddenly thought of a rule-based horror story where you can't leave a room if you don't do something. He cleared his throat. "Let's go."
"That's better," Tsunade said with a smile.
At the Foundation base in Konoha.
Danzo Shimura stood at the entrance, looking at the young boy not far away. A series of loud bangs echoed. The boy formed a hand seal and placed his hands on the ground.
Two rows of wooden pillars suddenly emerged, forming a dome to protect him. Danzo's eyes filled with a look of desire. This is the Mokuton of the God of Shinobi, Hashirama Senju! It was a shame he couldn't have it right now.
After acquiring the boy Yamato, also known as Kinoe, Danzo had conducted many experiments, but he still couldn't overcome the body rejection.
"Lord Danzo," a Foundation member appeared in front of him and kneeled.
"What is it?" Danzo's gaze was still fixed on Yamato, who was practicing Mokuton.
"These are the results of the Chūnin Exams," the Foundation member said, holding up a scroll with both hands. Danzo casually opened the scroll, and when he saw that Hoshikawa was in first place, he felt a pang of regret. He regretted it so much.
He should have just taken the boy back then. Once it was a done deal, what could Hiruzen Sarutobi do? He wouldn't kill him, after all.
Danzo glanced at the rankings and raised an eyebrow. Overall, the results were within his expectations. But how did Might Guy get second place? That was a pleasant surprise. Danzo was already thinking about whether he should try to contact him and recruit him into the Foundation.
