YEARS LATER
"What on earth! " yelled Lucile as she dodged an incoming ball of flying hay
" Becareful where you throw that thing iris you almost hit me in the face " she added throwing a sharp glare at her.
" Oh I'm sorry I thought you were a scare crow " iris teased.
" Haha so not funny. We've got a lot to do here. How about more working and less playing " Lucile replied with a frown on her face as she bent down to gather some dried up grasses with her hands coated with gloves and threw them in a wheel barrow close to her.
They were gathering hay outside in the farm to feed the horses in a stable directly behind them.
" you're such a kill joy Lucile, you deserve an award " iris couldn't help but keep mocking her cousin. " but since you said so, I'll be a little more serious " she added raising her head high. Although Lucile knows iris too well. She's definitely going to keep on mocking and acting silly till the job is done.
Lucile and iris are dear cousins, about the same age and height.
Fair and beautiful maidens they are. Iris has a long dark Brown hair stretching all the way down her back to her waist, fair skin, long lashes, and bright brown eyes that glitters when ever she smiles and a perfect feminine figure. While Lucile has jet black hair extending down her shoulders, brown eyes, light brown skin, and a beautiful feminine figure to compliment her looks.
With radiant beauty, they almost look like twins if it wasn't for their unidentical faces.
They soon finished gathering hay and wheeled into the stable where a variety of black, white and Brown horses were.
As they fed the horses, iris kept on watching a particular horse, it was black with a white patch round one of its eyes, and its legs from its knees to its hooves. Its odd looking patches made it more noticeable that it stood out amongst the others. It looked so graceful as it neighed loudly while waving its long hair. She couldn't help but imagine herself as a woman knight Galloping on it.
Her mother has always told her stories of the women knights and how they would fight side by side with the royal queen In a battle field.
They would put on bright and shiny armors on magnificent horses dressed in bronze and silver.
She moved closer to the horse and caressed it gently with a little smile on her face.
Lucile who was feeding the other horses noticed iris's behavior as she was staring into a void.
" what's up with you ? " Lucile asked as she walked closer to iris.
" who?.. me?.. oh nothing " iris answered nervously.
" really ? You were basically staring into space " Lucile said as she folded her hands.
Iris heaved a deep sigh
" its just that any time I see the horses, they always remind me of the women knights... "
" what about them ? " Lucile asked with an arched brow
" I've always dreamed of becoming a woman knight Lucile. They are so elegant yet brave. Riding magnificent horses. "Iris narrated with a big smile on her face.
" Day dreaming doesn't help iris.... Being amongst those set of trained women isn't easy ". Slightly shaking her head, Lucile cautioned iris, trying to get her back to reality.
" I know but anything is possible right? " Iris asked but to no one in particular.
" or maybe it's all too much of a fantasy for me." Iris added as she continued to stroke the horses hair.
Lucile looked at her with a hint of pity before an Idea popped up in her head.
She pulled iris's hands away from the horse and held them gently.
" well since you're persistent about it..... how about we convince your mom to let you come with me to Glonvia next week. You can stay with my dad and I. He'd be so happy to see you iris! And Maybe you can have a chance there" she happily suggested.
" Are you serious Lucile ?! GLONVIA?! I've always wanted to go there! I've heard so much about that place. It's an enchanting place..... Is there really a chance for me ?!" Iris asked with wide eyes.
" I said maybe..... "
" oh. But I believe it can definitely happen... it can! Anything is possible in Glonvia! I'll give it a try." Iris said with a big smile on her face but it soon faded.
Lucile noticed her sudden change in expression and asked
" What's wrong Iris? You said it can happen…. So why the long face?"
" The only problem is my Mom, she's against me going there, I just don't know why ?" Iris said with a sigh
" Maybe she's just scared of what could happen to you if you left" Lucile tried to console her cousin but Iris was determined either ways.
" I really don't know what she's so worried about. I've been here my entire life. I've got dreams…. Dreams no one would believe I can achieve. And the only way? The only way is to step out of my comfort zone".
" Don't worry Iris, I'll help you talk to aunty Irene. You're going to live with us in Glonvia….."
" Really ?"
" Yes!"
And in the blink of an eye Iris jumped on her cousin to give her a hug that made them loose their balance and fall in a pile of hay behind them. They both burst into laughter.
They soon finished their work and went home. It didn't take them much time to get home since Their house was just beside the stable.
Iris, with Lucile's help tried to convince her mother 'Irene' to let her go to Glonvia.
But for some reason Irene never liked the idea of letting her daughter go there. Some reasons she, alone knows.... But she saw how eagered iris was to go to Glonvia... and granted her the permission.
Iris felt over joyed and hugged her mother.
But there's still a part of Irene that fears what will happen if iris goes to Glonvia.
The following week iris and Lucile were ready to leave. They both hugged Irene and waved her good bye before entering the carriage that came to pick them.
