Hazel's POV
The moment I heard a low growl scattering across his chest, I knew I was in for a very long night. He clenched his fists as he glared down at me.
His eyes were burning with rage and frustration, and I could feel the dread creeping up my spine as I stared back at him. This wasn't going to be good. We continued to stare at each other, and although I wanted to move away from him and get out, I knew I couldn't, or he was going to tear me into shreds.
He moved a step closer towards me, menacingly. "You need to understand, Hazel, that if you comply and give birth to my heir, I will overlook your offenses. The attempted suicide, and you escaping from the Pack. Don't think I've forgotten about them. I could actually use them against you, and I know you aren't going to like it when that happens. You know the kind of person I am and the things I am capable of doing. I'd advise that you take your next decisions carefully so you don't get on my bad side. Trust me, you would rather not see me angry. You can have your freedom if you comply, but first you must fulfill your duty as my mate."
That was the thousandth time he had said those words to me, and it angered me even more each time. I also clenched my fists in anger because he wasn't only trying to manipulate and blackmail meinto doing what he wanted, he had the effort wry approach me to give him an heir after his mistress had killed my child, nearly drowned me, and after he had slept with her on uncountable occasions.
I knew he had to be talked to because being the Alpha didn't mean you were free to demean everybody and do whatever you wanted. I met his gaze and stared at him right in the eye. It was a risky gamble, but I was going to show him I wasn't always the weak, little pony he taught me to be.
"I will never agree to such a despicable bargain." I spat, even though my voice was low. "I refuse to be treated as nothing more than a means to an end. If you're not ready to treat me like I'm supposed to, and all you can do is sleep around and try to blackmail me, then I've got news for you- I will not give you any ounce of respect because you don't fucking deserve it! I even find it so disgusting, so fucking difficult to understand why you would be doing this to me! Are you that heartless and… and…stupid! First, it was that bitch you've been sleeping around with. She took away the only hope and joy I had, and now you want a new heir, so you can also kill him?"
"Shut up!" He screamed, startling me.
I had been so hysterical that I forgot I was talking to someone who could make or mar me if he wanted to.
He continued. "You have no choice in this matter, Hazel. You will do as I say, or you're going to suffer the consequences of crossing me. And don't think I will treat you any differently from Pack traitors because that's what you are." He snarled, pointing his finger at me.
He probably thought I was going to back down now, but I stood my ground. Nobody was going to tell me what to and what not to do, I owned my fucking life. Despite wanting to get hysterical now, I knew I had to be cautious, or I would be in a lot of trouble."I will never give in to your demands. I don't know how else I'm supposed to make it clear to you, but I'm never going to submit to your tyranny because I'm not a slave. I am your Luna and I deserve to be treated as one!" He scoffed after my ranting.
"A Luna who refuses to breed an heir for her Pack isn't only trying to take away the line of leadership from her bloodline, but it is also denying the Pack a future leader. That's worse than what a traitor does. You're no different from my subjects. I'm going to give you another chance to redeem yourself and tell me your final decision. Make sure you use your chance wisely, or you might be in for a world of hurt."
"I still maintain my words. What am I supposed to do? Fall at your feet and beg for mercy and show you that I'm scared for- '' I was interrupted when he suddenly lunged at me and grabbed me by the arm. His eyes blazed with fury.
"What do you think you're doing? Have you lostyour fucking mind!!" I screamed at him, while desperately trying to get him off me, but his grip felt like a vice.
"You are going to regret this! I promise you. When I'm done with you, you will wish you accepted me while you still had the chance. I will make you come back crawling at my feet, begging to breed my heir!" I chuckled as soon as he was done.
"Is that it? Is that the worst you can do?" He pushed me to the floor with a loud roar. I crashed, before turning around to face him. He looked like he was trying so hard not to shift and tear me into pieces right now. Seeing him so angry and hurt made me happy, but I dared not show it, or he might be forced to do things the old ways.
"Guards!" He yelled. A few seconds later, some guards ran into the room, ready to do his bidding. "Take her to the dungeon. Make sure she doesn't eat or drink anything for the rest of the day." Then he nodded slowly. "I think that will do for now.Maybe I can increase your punishment as time goes on, so I can see how far you can really go. Have a nice time in your new home, fool! Take her out of my sight right now!!"
The guards immediately grabbed me and began to hastily drag me towards the dungeon. I was struggling so hard against them, but it was no use. They were so strong, and so rough, and didn't mind if I was their Luna or if I was being wounded as they dragged me across the cobblestone floor.
"Let me go." I yelled across to Liam, but he had already turned away and was making his way outside. One thing I knew for sure was that I wasn't going to let him have his way with me, regardless of what he tried to do to me. Remorseless bastards like him deserved even more, and I hoped the tables would turn on him one day.
As soon as we got to the dungeon, the guards opened the locks before throwing me into thedank, dark room. I retched loudly as the sharp smell of ammonia caught my nose. The place stank of urine. I growled, before hastily making for the bars, but it was locked, and the guards were gone.
Nobody came back afterward, except when the guards came to serve me a meager amount of food the next day, nobody visited, not even Liam. But I got one on the second day, and it was my brother.
