Deniz was so affected by this new, audacious side of Fatih that she was eating with difficulty. Fatih was constantly attentive, stuffing things into her mouth non-stop.
As a girl who had to grow up without a father, she had never been someone who was pampered; she had become a strong, headstrong woman who stood on her own two feet. But now... for the first time, she wanted to be spoiled by a man. (Oh, I feel sorry for my baby)
Every line of Fatih's face, his muscular and impressive body being so close to her, both embarrassed her and made her insides tremble with excitement. They finished their meals accompanied by laughter.
Then Fatih fixed his gaze on Deniz's face and just stared for a while.
Deniz lowered her head with a bashful smile. "If you look a little more, I'll think there's something on my face," she said, giggling slightly.
Fatih looked away, laughing. "There's nothing on your face... You're just very beautiful," he said with quiet admiration.
Deniz was smiling, averting her gaze with a sweet blush on her cheeks.
Fatih suddenly stood up. "Come on, you need to rest now," he said, gently holding her arm and helping her lie down on the bed.
"I never thought you'd be babysitting, Captain!" Deniz said, giggling.
Fatih replied with a warm smile: "I didn't think so either. But fate makes people experience things they never thought of, engineer."
Then he slowly reached for the light and turned it off. Then he moved to the chair.
Due to his tall height, most of his legs extended beyond the chair, but there was a huge smile on his face like a child. Perhaps this was the most peaceful, happiest night of his life.
Deniz's timid voice broke the silence: "Fatih..."
Fatih raised his head, he could see Deniz's silhouette in the dim room.
"Yes?" he whispered, his voice very soft.
"Are you cold? The blanket is too short. You're very tall, that chair won't be enough for you," she murmured.
Fatih smiled slightly, even in the darkness his voice sounded happy.
"I'm quite comfortable. Don't worry," he said.
Deniz remained silent for a while. Then she spoke again in a timid voice:
"You can leave me here and go back to the lodge. I'm fine now."
Fatih immediately sat up. His voice was determined:
"I'm not going anywhere. I'm here. Sleep and rest now!" he said.
This answer warmed Deniz's heart. But at the same time, it bothered her conscience.
"But you have duty tomorrow. You need to sleep."
"If you let me, I am sleeping," Fatih said with a low chuckle.
Deniz gathered a bit more courage: "Well... The bed is very big. If... if you wouldn't mind..." she murmured, but
She couldn't complete her sentence. Her face was burning like flames. She couldn't believe she had made this offer.
With these words, Fatih's heart started beating rapidly. He couldn't breathe for a moment. Then he slowly stood up.
"Are you sure?" he asked, his voice coming out very serious.
Alarm bells were ringing in Deniz's brain, but the words had already left her mouth once.
"I mean... just for sleeping. You're very tall, that chair will be torture for you," Deniz murmured.
Fatih stood up and approached the bed with slow steps. His heart was beating so fast that it seemed like the sound would reach Deniz.
"Which side should I lie on?" he asked in a whisper.
As Fatih came close to her again, his masculine scent surrounded her once more. Deniz swallowed,
"Well... my injured side is the left. You can lie on the right side," she said.
Fatih sat on the edge of the bed with careful movements. He took off his boots. He was moving very slowly so as not to disturb Deniz.
Then he slowly lay down. He had left some distance between himself and Deniz, but he could still feel the warmth of her body.
"Are you more comfortable?" Deniz asked.
"Much more comfortable," Fatih said in a sincere voice.
They were both lying side by side, looking at the ceiling. It was as if electricity was sparking between them.
"Fatih?" Deniz whispered.
"Yes?" Fatih said in a warm voice.
"Today... I was very scared," Deniz said. Her lips were trembling, as if she was reliving that moment.
Fatih turned his head toward her. He could see Deniz's beautiful face in the darkness.
"Me too," he said in a breathless voice. "I was very afraid of losing you," he said.
Deniz still couldn't get used to Fatih being so frank. These words had made Deniz's insides tremble. She slowly turned her head toward him. She gathered her courage and asked in a very low voice, "Why?"
Fatih swallowed, his heart was in his throat. Right now he wanted very much to express all his feelings, but he was dying of fear that she might reject him. He wanted to save this moment for a special time.
"Because... I was afraid of who I would deal with if you weren't there," he whispered.
Fatih could hear Deniz's grumbling. He was sure she was cursing. But he didn't make a sound. He murmured to himself with a laugh. "I hope you're cursing without mixing up mother and sister. Street cat!"
When the first lights of morning filtered into the room, Deniz slowly opened her eyes and woke up.
She found herself with Fatih's arms wrapped around her, her head resting on his chest.
"No way, did we sleep like this?" she was saying to herself.
She slowly raised her head and was watching him from under Fatih's chin.
She panicked for a moment, but then realized how beautiful this warmth was.
A meaningless smile had settled on her face. "How can you be this handsome, men shouldn't be this beautiful," she was saying to herself.
She couldn't make sense of what this feeling was, but his scent, his smile, his gaze, even his walk - she was falling for everything about this man. There was only one thing she could name - she had never felt anything like this before...
Fatih also woke up soon after but didn't show it. He could tell from the warm breath hitting his face and her giggling that Deniz was looking at him. But he preferred not to break this situation, because his arms were holding the woman he loved.
Deniz was getting closer and closer to Fatih's face. She enjoyed looking more closely.
Fatih couldn't stand it anymore, his lips curved with pleasure. "This counts as harassment, Engineer!" he murmured.
Deniz tensed slightly when she realized the situation. She immediately pulled her head back and turned her face away.
In a shy voice, "I'm sorry," she whispered.
Fatih murmured with a warm smile, "Don't apologize, you were looking so beautifully."
At that moment, there was such intimacy between them that it was as if the world consisted only of them. As Fatih's fingers wandered on Deniz's cheek, they had both been caught up in the magic of this moment.
But reality came back with the ticking of the clock. Fatih looked at his phone. It showed 05:20.
"Damn it," he murmured.
Deniz asked curiously: "What happened?"
"I need to be at headquarters at six," Fatih said reluctantly.
Deniz's face fell but she didn't show it. As if she thought this moment would last forever just a few minutes ago. "Of course... your duty. You shouldn't be late," she could only say.
Fatih got out of bed, but there was reluctance in every movement. He kept looking at Deniz as he put on his boots.
"I don't want to go," he said in a sincere voice.
"But you have to go," Deniz said with a soft smile.
When Fatih was ready, he sat on the edge of the bed. He looked carefully at Deniz's face.
"You shouldn't be alone here. My mind will be stuck, I'll think about you constantly," he said.
Deniz's heart was beating fast, but she giggled with a slight smile, "Right, if something happens to me, you'll be thinking about who you'll fight with, Captain," she whispered.
Fatih was laughing. He slowly stood up. "I'll come back in the evening. If permission..." he couldn't finish.
Just then, there was a gentle knock on the door.
"Come in," Deniz said.
The door opened and Elif entered with a huge fruit basket in her hand. With all her energetic voice,
"Manager, I brought you a get-well-soon fruit basket," she said. But then her eyes noticed Captain Fatih and she was stunned, she stopped in surprise.
"Oh! Commander, were you here too?" she said.
Fatih and Deniz suddenly felt like they had been caught red-handed. Fatih jumped to his feet, while Deniz sat up in bed. She was straightening the sheets, casting absurd glances around... (these silly people!) 🤭
Elif, seeing their bewildered looks, with an understanding smile:
"Did I come at the wrong time?" she asked.
Fatih, his hands and feet getting tangled:
"No, no... I... I was just... for a check-up..." he murmured.
Deniz likewise: "Yes, just... a patient visit... I mean..." she stammered.
Elif, trying to suppress her smile: "Of course, of course. A patient visit," she said. But the implication in her voice was screaming, "I totally caught you guys!"
Fatih realized the situation was getting increasingly awkward. He immediately tried to pull himself together:
"I... I'm going to my duty. Get well soon Deniz, Well, Ms. Deniz... I mean Engineer," he was listing off, in an official voice.
Then he turned to Elif: "To you too, Engineer. Good morning," he said.
"Good morning, Commander," Elif said. She was still giggling.
Fatih headed for the door, but before leaving, he looked at Deniz one last time. There were dozens of unspoken words in his eyes.
"Take care of yourself," he said in a soft voice.
Deniz smiled and nodded.
Fatih quickly went out.
After the door closed, Elif immediately ran and hugged Deniz.
"I was so worried! When I learned about the incident last night, I called the hospital, they said you had surgery. They said you were resting. I couldn't sleep all night! The whole team is worried about you, they all send their regards," she said.
Deniz was surprised by Elif's sincere embrace. It was as if she had gained a little sister in a place she never expected. This feeling was very beautiful.
"I'm fine Elif, don't worry. Just a bullet graze," she said with a smile.
Elif stepped back and looked Deniz over from head to toe:
"You really do look good. But you're very pale," she said with concern.
Then she looked around, curiously: She had understood the situation. With sly looks, she whispered with pleasure,
"Did the Commander stay here all night?"
Deniz's cheeks had turned pink.
"He just... came for a check-up. You know, I was injured with him, guilt psychology I think," she murmured.
Elif, making gestures with her eyebrows:
"Of course, of course. Definitely for a check-up," she said and giggled.
