The sun was already out when I walked down the narrow hallway toward Lucian's chambers, a tray of breakfast balanced carefully in my hands. Golden light filtered through the stained glass windows, casting splashes of red and amber across the marble floor, yet somehow, the world still felt gray to me.

My body was moving, but my mind was trapped in a storm.
