I Hate You, Knight – Chapter 1 (Extended)

This is the place where souls go when they die.

Yes… this is Hell. The air is thick, suffocating, and the stench of fear lingers everywhere. A king sits on his throne, radiating authority—and pure annoyance.

— What…?

I'm kneeling below, drenched in sweat, muscles aching. Half an hour already. His face is red with anger as he glares at me.

— If you don't bring that kid back, you'll be expelled.

I kneel, exhausted but trying to sound calm, not daring to meet his eyes.

— Yes… my lord.

I mean… what kind of job is this? I'm basically a glorified errand boy for Hell's royalty. Great.

Day One

The otherworld is suffering from a deadly plague. Gates are sealed, people need travel permits to pass. Chaos is everywhere, and I have a front-row seat.

A girl approaches, fuming with anger. The knight? He doesn't even glance at her, standing there like a statue.

Run.

— Sorry… I'm late. Here.

She tries to calm herself, and he simply lets her in. No words, no emotion. Just… acceptance?

Then, a scream pierces the air. A merchant is being chased by an ogr—a massive, snarling brute.

The knight doesn't even move at first. But then… action.

— What the…?

The ogr glares, lunging forward, only to get a kick to the head. Down it goes, and then punches rain down on its stomach. Death is messy and loud.

— Is he… human? Or some kind of monster wearing human skin?

The girl freezes in terror. The merchant? Already running for his life.

The knight surveys the body, thoughtful. Then he does something… I can't see clearly. A beast-person appears, probably teleported. He looks at the knight… hesitates.

Could it be… again?

Damn it. He used his head to deal with the ogr?!

I'm soaked in sweat, and suddenly… pressure on my back.

— Wait a sec…

Before I can react, kick!—and I'm launched into the air, flying straight back to Hell.

Honestly… being expelled sounds like paradise compared to this.

Day Two

I'm hiding on a rooftop, observing the knight. Today seems to be his day off. He's chatting with someone, casual, terrifying.

Yesterday was hell. Literally. And when I returned? The king didn't say a word. Just a glance, a smirk. Obviously, he doesn't believe his own child could pull off such feats.

— Watching something?

I snap, too angry to hide it.

— I hate that guy… wait, what?

Another kick lands. Kick.

Airborne again. Honestly, maybe getting expelled is the better option.

---

A red-haired young man looks up, startled.

— What just flew by?

A flash of light appears, teleporting someone. The knight flinches, momentarily surprised.

— Nothing… just an idiot I kicked.

Ouch… yeah, that kick really hurts. I swear this guy has a personal grudge.

From my vantage point, I can see it all: the chaos, the fear, the silent authority of someone who doesn't just fight—he erases. And me? I'm just the spectator, the poor soul bouncing around like a pinball in his world.
