Hao looked at the carton of milk on his desk,his fingers brushing lightly over the cool surface.Sunlight streamed through the classroom window,casting a pale glow over the table—and over the small carton.
"Who put this here?"He murmured softly to himself,but everyone around was busy chatting or packing up their things.No one answered.
After a moment's hesitation,he picked up the milk.Pierced it with the straw,and took a sip.
The cold sweetness slid down his throat,and for a brief moment,warmth spread quietly through his chest.
"Thanks,"he whispered in his heart.
Not far away,Luoting glanced secretly in Hao's direction.She saw him drinking the milk,and a faint smile curved on her lips.
For some reason, she felt relieved.—At least he accepted it.
"Maybe this time," she thought,"he'll feel a little better."
