Chapter 130 - Chapter 130: Light Hellblood Demon

In an instant, countless magma globes and ice lances hammered the Chitauri around the portal—an apocalyptic tableau. Lava burst; ice shards fanned out. Before this overwhelming force of nature, the Chitauri were like clay chickens and straw dogs, crushed in a blink.

"Are they spirits sent by Asgard? But I've never heard of a fire god or an ice god from Asgard!"

"How can there be monsters this terrifying on Earth?"

Meanwhile—Washington, D.C.

From the black maw hanging in the sky, wave after wave of Chitauri plunged toward the city. Several Leviathan war-beasts heaved through the portal, their titanic bodies swaying as they descended upon Earth.

A Quinjet knifed into D.C.'s airspace.

"Dr. Banner, there are too many of them—we need reinforcements!"

A figure dropped from above: the God of Thunder, Thor. "This is the critical moment. We must stand united!"

"Thor," said the Captain, eyes on the yawning portal and the endless Chitauri, "your attacks cover more ground—get up near the gate and unleash lightning. Thin their numbers as much as possible."

Thor nodded, swung Mjolnir, and surged skyward.

The Captain glanced toward several Leviathans. "Dr. Banner, those giant beasts are yours."

"No problem." Banner vaulted out of the Quinjet. By the time he hit the street he was the Hulk, launching himself back up at the nearest Leviathan and swatting Chitauri from the air with raw power.

On a nearby rooftop, Loki watched the Chitauri—countless as flies—flood the sky. A feverish grin spread across his face. "Hahaha! I've done it. I'll be master of Earth—Earth's king!"

On the ground, the Captain was mired in a brutal fight. Even with Thor lashing the swarm with thunder, the effect was limited; more and more Chitauri were overrunning D.C.

His brows knit. This is Washington. With so many civilians below, deploying large-area weapons is too costly.

A face flashed in his mind. The Hellblood Demon—why not call him? With his power, he could swing the battle.

Then he reconsidered. There are portals over both New York and D.C.—the Hellblood Demon is probably already fighting in New York.

Just then, two streaks ripped the sky: a silver-white flare, and a spear of gold.

Maguire and Holland, arrived from New York—and both were already elementalized. Frost-bright radiance; dazzling gold.

Thor recognized Maguire at a glance. "With Mr. Maguire here, these enemies won't be a problem."

The Captain recognized him, too—though he stared, puzzled, at the golden figure beside him. "A humanoid made entirely of light… A friend of the Hellblood Demon?"

On a tower rooftop, Loki looked down at the two, scorn curling his lip. "You think the two of you can stand against my vast army? Delusional."

Maguire, eyes on the unending tide of Chitauri overhead, felt a thrill. So much evil value—jackpot.

He glanced at Holland. "Our cue. Go."

Holland nodded. In the next heartbeat he became a golden star, flashing to the portal's rim. He looked coldly upon the Chitauri pouring from the gate. "Feel the power of light."

He turned into a blazing orb; countless rays speared upward into the portal, weaving a radiant net across the sky. Chitauri soldiers were punched through mid-flight, hundreds at a time.

Seeing the heavens alight, the Captain and the God of Thunder both gaped. "Terrifying… Is he a spirit like Maguire? Light Hellblood Demon?"

Maguire's gaze dropped to the Leviathans. A crooked smile bent his mouth. "Come—let me show you what a fruit can really do."

A thunderflash—Maguire appeared beside a Leviathan that the Hulk was pummeling.

The Hulk glanced his way, instinctively uneasy.

Crack!

A ringing slap from Maguire sent the Hulk hurtling into the sky.
