The little person in his arms gently nuzzled his waist.
Jiang Sui rested his chin against the girl's head, his eyes casually glancing around. Many people at the court whistled and cheered.
The person in his arms clearly tried to push him away.
Jiang Sui put his arms around Su Qing's waist and spun her around, so that her back was facing the court.
She was so light.
Jiang Sui didn't have to exert any effort.
"Jiang Sui..." Su Qing exclaimed, blinking.
"Do you want those people to see you blush?" the boy said, hinting. Su Qing pursed her lips and said nothing.
A pair of handsome faces caught her eye. The boy reached deep into Su Qing's eyes and gently tapped the tip of her nose with his finger.
"No lies, understand."
"I'll tell you whatever you want to know."
The boy's eyes fixed on Su Qing intently. He retracted his fingertips and took Su Qing's hand.
Su Qing bit her lip, nodded, and swallowed. Her waist, where she had been released, still felt slightly warm, and she still held the boy's clothes in her hand.
"Then what are you doing here?"
Jiang Sui gestured, and the two of them faced the court.
"Nah, come play ball."
Perhaps because the two had been lingering here for a long time, Hu Yifan steeled himself and walked over to the two who had just separated.
"Brother Sui, are you still going to play today? Or should I let them back first?"
Hu Yifan rubbed his forehead, glanced at Jiang Sui, then at Su Qing. The smile and ambiguous feeling in his eyes made Su Qing feel very embarrassed.
"Hi, brother wife-in-law."
Hu Yifan's words flowed smoothly, and Jiang Sui's brows lit up with a hint of a smile, his lips curling slightly. The girl, half-protected by him, blushed for a moment.
"Go play ball. I'll wait here for you."
Su Qing tugged at Jiang Sui's sleeve, signaling him to go play while she stayed here.
Jiang Sui reached out and touched the girl's head. He spread his clothes on a nearby stone block and motioned for her to sit down.
"Sit down and wait for me. I'll come back and tell you later."
Hu Yifan just watched from the sidelines, making Su Qing even more embarrassed. She kept urging Jiang Sui to play basketball.
There were only five people playing basketball. Jiang Sui and Hu Yifan were in one group, both wearing white jerseys, and the remaining three were in another.
Su Qing hadn't watched many basketball games and didn't quite understand the rules, but he just thought the boy's jumps were truly handsome, with smooth arcs.
He seemed to score the most goals, so he must be the most impressive, Su Qing thought.
Occasionally, his clothes would lift up, revealing a part of his belly, and the faintest glimpse of abdominal muscles could be seen on his lean waist.
She thought back to when he had just touched the boy's waist.
Su Qing's cheeks, already red from the sun, felt a faint glow.
She was mesmerized.
Only the ringing of her cell phone brought Su Qing back to her senses. She pulled it out. It was an unfamiliar number, the prefix similar to the one she'd received before.
Su Qing's entire demeanor shifted. Her fingertips grasped the phone, and she pressed the answer button.
"Su Qing."
It was the voice changer.
Su Qing couldn't help but glance around. Aside from the clatter of the basketball hitting the ground, she saw no one, and the phone booth was empty.
Her nerves were frayed.
"What do you want to do?"
Su Qing's voice was clear, as low as possible, her head lowered. She didn't notice at all that the boy playing basketball nearby had finished halftime and was heading towards the girl, two bottles of water in hand.
The girl, who had been keeping an eye on him, now took the call, her face pale.
"I didn't mean to do anything. I just wanted to ask you, when are you going to break up with Jiang Sui?"
The voice on the other end was scattered, as if everything was under control.
Su Qing pursed her lips.
"There's nothing going on between Jiang Sui and me."
The girl turned on the recording button and tried to keep her voice steady.
Just as the words fell.
A pair of white basketball shoes stood in front her. Su Qing was familiar with them; they were the same pair Jiang Sui wore.
The girl couldn't help but raise her head, a cold sweat breaking out on her back.
Su Qing, still on the phone, stared at Jiang Sui, her face pale. Sweat beads on the boy's forehead dripped onto her feet, his eyes cold as ice.
He had clearly heard those words.
"There's nothing between Jiang Sui and me."
Su Qing bit her lip, silent. Her stiff fingertips hung up the phone, no longer caring what the other party said.
"Jiang Sui..., listen to me..."
She was a little anxious. The bottle of water the boy had unscrewed for her was placed in front of her. His knuckles had been bruised from playing basketball, leaving a patch of red skin.
"Who's calling?"
The boy raised his eyelids indifferently. The gesture he'd handed her the water remained unchanged, but his words were cold, the tenderness he'd felt earlier having mostly dissipated.
Su Qing tucked the phone away, subconsciously wanting to hide it.
Jiang Sui wasn't going to give her that chance.
"Don't lie to me."
His voice was tinged with a faint layer of anger, and he tried his best to control his emotions. Perhaps because of the girl's pale face, his voice was much lower.
Beneath his wispy hair, those eyes held a plethora of emotions, difficult to decipher, an endless depth of meaning.
"Brother Sui, it's begun!"
During the short break in the second half, someone was already calling out to the young man, but Jiang Sui remained completely unmoved, as if he hadn't heard the calls.
His back was straight and sharp, and he simply let his gaze rest on Su Qing.
Hu Yifan seemed to know what was going on. He chatted and laughed with the others who followed him, offering a few kind words. The players then left with somewhat grim expressions.
Hu Yifan looked down at the transfer in his phone; the agreed-upon price was more than half off.
He simply sat on the floor, drank some water, and transferred all the money to Jiang Sui.
He had originally made the school basketball team, but Hu Ling had somehow managed to kick him out.
His sister was known for her cruelty.
She was forcing him to go back and fight those people for the family fortune, but he knew his own limitations best and didn't have the talent. Now he couldn't even play his favorite sport, basketball.
Hu Yifan felt a little frustrated.
He gulped down water, the ice-cold water, but it couldn't dispel his inner restlessness.
His eyes drifted to Jiang Sui and Su Qing.
Honestly, he didn't really believe in love at that moment, but Ah Sui seemed possessed. Not only did he play street ball, he even came out to teach.
He was working like crazy to make money.
Is there really love in youth? He couldn't help but think of his strong-willed sister, who was hurt all over, but in the end, she still compromised...
