Chapter 53 - Chapter 53 That's So Foolish

Amidst Su Qing's exclamations, Jiang Sui shoved the girl into the taxi.

The gauze bandage around his arm was soaked with blood, and Su Qing was terrified. She pursed her lips and remained silent the entire journey, only to find herself unable to resist a word as she exited the car.

"The bandage needs to be changed. It's bleeding."

The young man's narrow eyes fixed on her, a wicked smile playing.

"Qing Qing, I'm so sorry. Come here and give me a kiss."

Su Qing decisively exited the car, closed the door, and felt the buzzing in her head finally quieten.

Jiang Sui didn't get out of the car with her. She had no idea what he was going to do, nor did she care. Just as she was entering the hotel, a phone call came in.

It was Su Rao. Su Qing squeezed her palms, her expression softening as she answered.

"Qing Qing, why didn't you tell Mom you were going to Jiangcheng?"

Su Rao's voice was soft and even, without a trace of tinge. She didn't question her, but her expression was filled with barely concealed worry, even a sob.

Su Qing's fingers instantly hardened against the phone, and she pursed her lips, finding her voice for a long time. She didn't ask how Su Rao knew, but simply explained, "Mom, I don't want you to worry. I'll be back tomorrow. I've already finished my exams, and my flight is tomorrow. If things really don't work out, I can go back tonight."

Su Rao on the other end didn't reply for a long time, tightly holding back her tears.

"Qing Qing, it's Mom's fault for being incompetent. I couldn't protect you."

"Don't worry, Qing Qing. It's okay. We all have to face it. Didn't you say you have a dinner party tonight? Just come back with your classmates tomorrow. Mom will be waiting for you. If you're in danger, just call me, okay, Qing Qing?"

She stared blankly at the door, her heart tightening as she listened to the voice on the other end of the line. She saw a figure she hadn't seen in a while: Xu Miaoran. The tall, well-proportioned girl had appeared, and many people in the hall turned their gazes.

Su Qing lowered her head, sheltering herself against a nearby pillar. She murmured a response. Su Rao gave her many instructions before hanging up.

Even before Su Qing put her phone back in her pocket, she saw a pair of light-colored high heels standing in front her.

"Su Qing, long time no see."

Xu Miaoran had long, thin eyelashes and a lightly painted face. She wore a light-colored short dress and a matching bag slung over her wrist. She was already taller than Su Qing, and now, in her high heels, she towered over her by half a head.

She looked down at Su Qing with what she thought was an oppressive attitude.

Su Qing put away her phone, raised her head indifferently, and took a slight step back. She wasn't used to being too close to people.

"Hello."

Perhaps because of her upbringing, she was expected to respond to greetings, but her voice was flat and her face expressionless.

She carried a faint, inimitable arrogance. Though she was a head shorter than her and her canvas shoes were washed bleached, she never displayed any condescension.

This inexplicably irritated Xu Miaoran.

"Su Qing, you're so annoying! From the first time I met you, I've found you incredibly annoying."

Su Qing pinched her brows. Her head ached, and she didn't want to deal with Xu Miaoran. She simply felt that Jiang Sui was too much trouble.

Why had she ever wanted to...?

It was truly foolish.
