Su Qing could only feel her heart pounding, almost threatening to burst out of her throat.
The young man was like a gust of wind.
She ran as fast as she could, her vision blurred as he pulled her along.
After a while, Jiang Sui dragged Su Qing through the small woods in the playground, picked her up, and placed her on a mound of dirt. Then, after pulling through the weeds, he discovered a massive hole in the once-uniform school fence.
It looked a bit like a dog hole?!
But it wasn't, because it was much larger than a dog hole. It looked like the fence had been dismantled in several pieces, revealing a small door, well hidden by the overgrown weeds.
Su Qing stared in amazement.
Jiang Sui led Su Qing outside. Once outside, they seemed to be on the sidewalk next to the school. Su Qing was still in shock.
"You two bastards, stop running!!!"
"Come back here!!!"
Hearing the voice so close, Su Qing instinctively wanted to turn around and look back, but Jiang Sui held her back.
"Don't look. Behave."
Jiang Sui then stood to the side of the road, shielding the girl behind him, hailed a taxi, and sped away.
Through the window, Su Qing watched as the pursuer, after a few scrabbling attempts at the brush, got stuck because he was too fat and couldn't get out.
From running so hard, Su Qing was panting, a light bead of sweat forming on her forehead. She breathed with her mouth open.
Her chest rose and fell. From a lack of regular exercise, Su Qing's legs were a little weak, and she could only lean against the seat to rest.
"Qing Qing, you need to exercise more."
Jiang Sui's eyes glared at Su Qing, her physique so impressive. He then took the girl's backpack and reached for her water bottle.
He familiarly opened Su Qing's bag and handed her the water bottle.
Su Qing, thirsty like a drowning fish, took the water bottle and began to drink.
"Drink a little. You shouldn't drink so much right after exercising."
After taking a small sip, Jiang Sui took the water bottle, covered it, and placed it in Su Qing's backpack.
Su Qing finally reacted to this action. Her eyelashes fluttered a few times, but she didn't say anything. Seeing the boy's serious and handsome profile, she couldn't help but lick her lips.
"Aren't you going to drink?"
After saying that, she realized it was her water cup and couldn't help but tighten her grip.
"I was afraid you'd dislike me."
The boy zipped up Su Qing's backpack, his fingers pausing for a moment.
Jiang Sui's words left Su Qing at a loss for words. Her throat was already dry, so she could only bite her lip and blink, trying to say, "Drink."
But before she could say anything, she saw the young man unzip her bag again and pull out a water bottle.
He leaned close to her ear. "We've already kissed each other."
Su Qing's cheeks immediately flushed.
She saw Jiang Sui holding the pink cup, which was completely inconsistent with his temperament, and his Adam's apple rolled.
He was drinking water. Su Qing turned her head away, not wanting to look.
"Jiang Sui."
The girl's voice, whether out of shyness or a warning, brought a faint smile to Jiang Sui's lips. He remained silent.
It wasn't until he arrived at the hospital, while registering and paying for Jiang Sui's appointment, that Su Qing pulled out her phone.
Only then did she notice the silent phone was filled with numerous missed calls and messages.
Looking at the time, she realized it had already been half an hour since the exam ended.
Just as she was about to call the teacher back, her phone lit up again.
It was Li Ran.
She answered nervously.
"Su Qing, where have you been?"
Su Qing looked around. She was in the hospital, but how could she explain this... She licked her lips and steeled herself.
"Teacher, I'm not feeling well. I went back to the hotel after handing in the papers and accidentally fell asleep. Sorry to have worried you."
The girl's voice was naturally soft and gentle, neither humble nor overbearing.
Li Ran, on the other end of the line, frowned, having forgotten that Su Qing still had a cold. However, the fact that she'd handed in her paper early and left on her own still piqued Li Ran's dissatisfaction.
She could only lower her voice.
"Just go back. Don't go out on your own anymore. If you have any problems, talk to your teacher first, okay?"
She was much less angry, but she couldn't help but detect the frustration coming from Li Ran.
Su Qing had a good temper and a soft personality, which Li Ran recognized. However, this soft-hearted girl had been plagued by a series of strange incidents, which annoyed Li Ran. She had something to say to Su Qing, so she didn't hang up for a while.
Su Qing didn't dare to hang up rashly either.
"Okay, that's all. I'll tell you when I get back."
Su Qing obediently agreed.
Finally, she hung up the phone. She checked the time; the call had lasted about ten minutes. She hurried over to the doctor with the documents.
The moment she entered, the doctor looked at Su Qing, and then Jiang Sui also looked at her.
"You're finally back, little girl! If you hadn't come back soon, the handsome boy would have gone out looking for you. He'd be worried you'd get lost."
Su Qing blushed at the words. She quickly handed the bill to the doctor and stood aside. Jiang Sui's arm was now restrained, unable to move. He simply stared at her.
"What took you so long?"
"Teacher Li just called me."
Su Qing didn't try to hide anything. Standing aside, she felt horrified at Jiang Sui's bloody wounds. She wondered, "He's been to the police station after a fight, and they won't care?" And it was also her fault for not seeing his wounds right away and even talking to him for so long outside...
Jiang Sui saw the worry in the girl's eyes, pursed his lips, and tilted his body slightly to hide the wound.
"Go out and wait for me."
"It'll be fine in a moment."
Su Qing shook her head, glanced at Jiang Sui, then stood obediently to the side, waiting.
"I'll wait here for you. After the stitches, is it need to change the dressing regularly, doctor?"
The girl's soft eyes were focused, a hint of fear and worry making her clutch at her clothes.
"It's okay. No stitches are needed. A simple bandage will be all it takes."
Only after the doctor finished speaking did Su Qing breathe a sigh of relief.
"I already told you it's fine. Why did Teacher Li call you just now?"
Jiang Sui's eyes darkened, and then he asked nonchalantly.
"Just asking why didn't see me after the exam." Su Qing replied, not noticing the turmoil in the boy's eyes, simply watching the doctor's disinfectant and medication application.
"Oh, then what did you say?"
"I said I went back to the hotel." Su Qing seemed unaccustomed to lying. As she finished, Jiang Sui saw the slightest blush on the girl's cheeks.
As they were leaving the hospital, Jiang Sui leaned close to Su Qing's ear and added:
"Little liar."
