Chapter 28 - Chapter 28 Middle Aged Father

The room was a suite.

Perhaps Jiang Chenghua felt he owed Jiang Sui something, so he meticulously decorated it to resemble Jiang Sui's own home.

The style was simple, with a bedroom, a study room, a bathroom, and a living room with a large floor-to-ceiling bay window.

The design hadn't been a peek at Jiang Sui.

Perhaps because Jiang Sui hadn't answered the phone, Jiang Chenghua rushed to Jiang Sui's door as soon as he landed.

Ding-dong, ding-dong, the ringtone continued to ring. Su Qing sat in the corner of the sofa, silent, her pupils wincing.

Jiang Sui took in the girl's expression.

He half-knelt in front her, looked up at Su Qing, and then pointed to the room to the side, Jiang Sui's bedroom.

"Don't worry, go wash up first. The delivery guy might be here. I'll go check."

"There are my clothes and a nightgown in the closet. Go in and look."

"I'll apply the medicine to you later."

The boy was still experiencing some voice change, his voice a blend of maturity and youth, deep and gentle.

The girl remained stubborn and didn't move, her expression somewhat numb.

After a while, she finally moved her head, nodded, and said "OK."

This finally eased the boy's apprehension, and then lifted it up again.

Watching Su Qing enter the room, he gently closed the door behind him and turned to open the living room door.

"You still remember to open the door for your father!"

"Where's your mother?"

Jiang Chenghua arrived in a hurry, a briefcase tucked under his arm, a hint of impatience on his face, an unextinguished cigarette in his hand.

He angrily tried to enter, but Jiang Sui blocked the doorway, refusing to let him in.

"Don't make me say it again, that's not my mother!"

I've just run into a son even more arrogant than me. Jiang Sui, still dripping wet and in a state of disarray, looked utterly miserable.

Seeing this, Jiang Chenghua realized he was in the wrong and, assuming Cheng Man had caused some trouble again, softened his tone.

"Did she make you look like this?"

"She's been like that, can't you be more lenient? I didn't keep an eye on her, so she escaped. She was doing this for the Jiang family's good, letting you have dinner with that girl from the Xu family..."

Jiang Sui's face was filled with impatience, like the depths of the ocean. His son's appearance was nothing like Jiang Chenghua's, especially those aloof, wolf-like eyes, cold and icy.

The boy's reluctance to speak further left Jiang Chenghua feeling frustrated.

"Alright, I won't say anything. If you don't want to, forget it."

"It'd be best if that incident had nothing to do with Cheng Man, or I won't forgive her. And don't even think about the idea of a loving father and a filial son, or a harmonious family bringing prosperity. That's impossible."

His voice was cold and inhumane, his eyes icy, looking at him as if he were a stranger.

Jiang Chenghua hadn't seen Jiang Sui like this in a long time.

He couldn't seem to remember how long it had been, his eyes filled with surprise.

"What's going on...!"

Jiang Chenghua wanted to ask something else, his brow furrowed, his face etched with embarrassment.

All he heard was...

Bang!

A door slammed.

His son had locked him out. Jiang Chenghua felt his blood pressure rise instantly, and he cursed uncontrollably, but he didn't knock. He went to Cheng Man's room.

He muttered as he walked.

"What a sin! What kind of life is this!"

His hair had long been blown to a mess. He hadn't brought an umbrella, and his clothes were soaking wet. Middle-aged, with a bit of a potbelly, he looked utterly miserable.

His son wasn't close to him.

Marrying a young wife...

Sigh...
