"God, Tony, what are you doing?""You should be resting!"
In Marbury's luxury villa, Pepper Potts stared at Tony Stark, who was confidently juggling a cup of coffee while tapping away at a flurry of data on his screens. She was simultaneously exasperated and worried.
"Pepper, calm down. You're overreacting," Tony said casually."It's just a minor procedure," he added with nonchalance, as if serious surgery were no big deal.
Pepper was speechless. If an open-chest operation was "minor," what could ever be considered major?
But their relationship had changed. No longer just boss and subordinate, there was now a deeper connection. Under Pepper's gentle insistence, Tony temporarily paused his work. But as soon as she left, he was back at it. Wasting time was something Tony simply could not tolerate, especially with so much critical information from the diary waiting to be processed.
Now, fully recovered, Tony's energy was unleashed."All leads on Atlantis have been located and analyzed by J.A.R.V.I.S.," Tony said."Unfortunately, they were all false leads. We still have no clue where Atlantis actually is."
In the villa's basement, a projection screen displayed the face of Fury. He nodded slightly at Tony's report, unfazed. Finding Atlantis, a place spoken of in legends, was always going to be nearly impossible.
"What about Wakanda?" Fury asked."J.A.R.V.I.S. found nothing unusual. Their disguise is perfect," Tony replied.Even an AI as powerful as J.A.R.V.I.S. couldn't detect any trace, which was a testament to Wakanda's secrecy.
Tony and Fury exchanged understanding glances. While the diary hinted at Atlantis and Wakanda as critical locations, Fury's call this time wasn't about those. It was about something far more urgent: the Tesseract.
"Stark, you need to know something," Fury said gravely. "The Tesseract has shown abnormal activity."
Tony's face immediately hardened. The diary had revealed the Tesseract contained the Space Stone—Loki's prize. And now, the Tesseract itself was acting strangely.
"What's happening with the Tesseract?" Tony asked, eyes sharp."No one touched it. It activated on its own," Fury explained. "It seems to have woken from dormancy, in a highly energized state."
Tony didn't waste time. "So it's trying to open a spatial portal?""Possibly," Fury admitted. "Or maybe someone triggered it remotely."
The weight of the situation pressed down on both of them. The diary had hinted at a Loki invasion. The Tesseract's energy pulses could signal the start of it.
"Then we need to be ready," Tony said, his mind already racing. "Everyone, initiate Plan B."
Tony activated a small component at the base, handing control of the security systems to J.A.R.V.I.S. immediately. "Take it from here," he instructed."Understood, sir," the AI responded, locking down all systems.
"Send me a suit," Tony added.
Seconds later, the top floor of Stark Tower opened, revealing a sleek launch platform. A drone shot out, carrying Tony's newest creation: the Mark VII armor. Unlike previous suits, Mark VII could deploy rapidly, automatically assembling around him without heavy mechanical arms.
Within three minutes, the armor locked into place, and Tony Stark, fully armed, arrived at the Dark Energy Joint Base. His presence bolstered Fury's confidence; no matter who might appear through a spatial portal, the strongest weapon on Earth was ready.
"Sir, someone is approaching the base," J.A.R.V.I.S. announced."Captain Steve Rogers," Tony muttered, a faint smirk crossing his face. "You called him?""Yes," Fury confirmed. "I summoned the Captain."
Tony nodded. "Let him in."
All eyes turned to the Tesseract, glowing intensely as its energy surged. The atmosphere was tense, the air thick with anticipation. Whatever might come through next—Loki or something even worse—Earth's mightiest heroes were prepared.
