Chapter 1 - chapter 1:summoning

A purple dyed shaggy haired young man with aqua eyes is walking down a hall with various doors that have numbers on them.

He reaches number 224 and stops in front of it.

As he is reaching his hand towards the nob, suddenly a light blue circle appears beneath his feet and before he knows what's happening he disappears from where he stood.

Meanwhile in the capital city of the kingdom of Goroth, within the throne room of the castle, a ritual of some sort seems to be taking place.

A very well dressed blonde young man is pointing his arms at the ground, on which the same circle that made the purple haired youth disappear.

A sort of power emitting from the young man's arms seems to be making the circle or at least powering it.

The young man seems to be exhausting himself rapidly.

Suddenly, a figure begins to appear transparently at first atop the circle, until finally forming completely.

Only once they are fully formed does the young blonde fall to one knee completely exhausted.

The figure that appeared atop the circle happens to be non other than the purple haired young man from before.

Everyone in the throne room is pleased for the most part.

Some are speaking of how the summoning was a success while some are more worried about the state of the young blonde.

Meanwhile the blonde was already trying to stand, without the assistance of those who tried to help him up.

He wants to greet the new arrival as best as he can and look somewhat presentable.

The blonde finally speaks.

"Welcome sir, I believe introductions and an explanation are in order. I am Raith Goroth, crown prince of the Goroth kingdom, and you currently stand within the throne room of the royal castle. We have summoned you here for we are in dire need of assistance, so please do excuse the abrupt pull from your world."

The purple haired young man looks around him, seeing people clad in iron armor it seems and people dressed in fancy clothes as well as the strapping young man in front of him, it seems Raith isn't lying.

The purple haired young man begins thinking to himself rather rapidly.

'Hold on, I have been summoned? Pulled from my world? This is just like… ONE OF THOSE NOVELS OR MANGA I READ! Ok ok, calm down first don't get too excited. After all, there's always a catch, something they want you to do, like slay a demon lord or something… but wait a minute, why should I listen to them? I would much rather join the demon lord than be with the good guys, yeah that's what I will do but first I better confirm what they want of me.'

*Ahem*he clears his throat and begins to speak.

"Excuse my bluntness your highness, but would the dire situation you have called me for entail slaying a demon lord of sorts."

Raith is taken aback by this question and replies swiftly.

"Why would we attack the demons, they are a peaceful race though a bit odd, and how did you know about them, do you have demons in your world too?"

The purple haired youngster thinks of a quick answer.

"There are tales in my world of hero's being called upon to slay an evil demon king or demon lord, however if this is not what you need me for then what could it be."

"Alright I shall explain to you our circumstances but before that can you do me a small request and say the word 'status', from what we know a sort of screen should appear before you that only you can see if the summoning worked correctly this is a blessing given to those summoned from another world, though we know not why. On that screen it should say what type of hero you are, as well as a few other things."

The young man does as he is told and speaks.

"Status"

A violet screen appears before him.

Chuck looks at the screen while grinning inwardly, this is perfect for him.

Back in his world, Chuck Samuel wasn't exactly a saint.

He had always admired the masterminds, the schemers, the ones pulling the strings from the shadows.

Heroes bored him, they were too predictable, too naïve.

He preferred the rush of bending people to his will, winning without playing fair, and watching the good guys fall from grace when they lose it all.

It wasn't just fiction, either.

College life had only sharpened those tendencies—rigging student elections, framing rivals, manipulating groups against each other for fun.

He had even been in a gang for a while, which is one of the reasons he sports purple hair.

He thrived on these things, but it also earned him plenty of enemies.

The label villain wasn't an insult to Chuck… it was a badge of honor.

Chuck, knows though he can't say that his status screen says villain so instead he knows what to say.

"There is a blue screen in front of me and it shows my name, age, class, stats and quests… my class says magic swordsman (hero)."

*Murmur murmur*

The people around upon hearing this are elated and surprised at the same time.

One person says "we haven't had a magic swordsman hero since Javis Goroth 1000 years ago during the great demon war!"

Another says "Indeed, this must be a great sign for us, this war is as good as won!"

The prince raises his hand and asks for silence before speaking

"Hmm, magic swordsman, that shows a lot of capability however whether you adapt to the role is entirely up to you. Although you may grow quickly, pure strength can't always outweigh experience.

Chuck nods thoughtfully, playing his part. "Of course, Your Highness. I understand that skills need to be honed through practice and real experience. Perhaps you could tell me more about this... war that I heard mentioned the one that needs to be won?"

Raith sighs and speaks.

"Ah yes, the war with the Astolf kingdom, a large neighboring kingdom to the east. You see tensions have been brewing for quite a while now and it finally led to a war declaration, however our kingdom is nowhere near it's former glory and as such we don't have the forces to fight, if we were to currently we would likely lose.

Chuck furrows his brow, maintaining his concerned hero facade.

"I see. What caused these tensions to escalate into war? And what do you mean by your kingdom not being at its former glory?"

Raith's shoulders slump slightly as he continues.

"The Astolf kingdom has been expanding aggressively for the past decade, claiming our border territories and cutting off vital trade routes. As for our decline..."

He glances around the throne room before meeting Chuck's eyes again.

" We've suffered from poor harvests, a plague that decimated our population three years ago, and frankly, corruption within our own noble houses. Our military is a shadow of what it once was, and that's not even the worst part of all this, the worst part is my father the king is bedridden currently and I fear his life may be coming to an end."

*Perfect,* Chuck thinks, his mind already spinning with possibilities. *A weakened kingdom, corrupt nobles, and a war they can't win. This is exactly the kind of chaos I can work with.*

"And you believe a single hero can turn the tide of this war?" Chuck asks, though internally he's more interested in how he might exploit the situation for his own gain.

Raith sighed again

"I'll be honest with you, we only summoned you to give us a fighting chance, we don't have much confidence that even with your help we may win. I also wish to apologize to you as we summoned you into such a situation and there is no way to send you back where you came from, however we will permit you to make up your own mind on rather or not to join and assist us. Should you choose not to we will still support you by giving you some money and basic information before sending you on your way into the world."

Chuck thinks carefully to himself.

'Hmm, I'm not worried about not being able to go back to my world, this is a dream come true for me. But what should I do, should I stay with them and manipulate things possibly while playing the role of hero or should I take up his offer and head out into the world.'

After thinking for a while Chuck comes to a decision and speaks.

"Alright, I shall stay and help you all the best I can your highness."

"Great, now tell me hero, what is your name?"

Chuck thought for a moment before answering.

"Dark, Thomas Dark, you may call me tom for short your highness."

He bows his head and grins maliciously
