Chapter 1
It was just another quiet night in the barren wasteland. The moon hung low, casting a cold light over the cracked earth. Somewhere, a faint breeze whispered secrets no one could hear.
Kian lay still, his body aching, his mind racing. He wasn't sure how he ended up here, but one thing was clear — he wasn't like the othersHe sat up straight, eyes darting around the unfamiliar surroundings. What the hell is going on? He swore he was in his room just moments ago, sleeping. Sleepwalking? No, he'd never heard of himself doing that before.
He pushed himself up to stand — but wobbled and fell back down. Off balance.
His gaze dropped to his body. Why are my hands so long? Why do my legs feel... different? Something was wrong.Suddenly, a robotic voice echoed in his mind:
"ASCENSION SYSTEM BONDING WITH HOST'S SOUL."
"What the—?!" he shouted, eyes wide. Was he stuck in one of those cliché novels where the main character suddenly gets a system? No, wait—this wasn't a novel. This was his life. Or maybe he was dreaming.
Whatever it was, one thing was clear: he needed to be ready for whatever came next.
I tried standing, but it felt… wrong. My legs were shaky, my balance off—like this wasn't even my body. What happened? Did I… die? Or maybe I was transported here? Who knows.
At least there was one small comfort. I didn't have anyone to worry about. I was an orphan, after all. Nobody wants an orphan.
Suddenly, I slapped my own face. "Why am I thinking about this crap?" It had been ten years since Mom left me. Maybe now she had a better life. Who cares… I told myself. Honestly, I'm glad she's gone.
A cold, robotic voice echoed in my head:
SYSTEM BONDING COMPLETE
HOST HAS SUCCESSFULLY BOUND WITH THE SYSTEM
FROM NOW ON, HOST WILL BE ABLE TO ACCESS:
