Ivy
"Did you really think you could fight him off?
With your figure no less than mine and probably an influence less than mine.
You will never survive this school if you did that" She ranted, her voice
sharp and cold.
She talked like she was my mother or someone sent to
guide me.
I looked at her, relaxed before she finally calmed
down and spoke.
"Hi, I'm Aria. I received an order from the
principal to take care of you." She said and I blinked, another lead of
mine was broken.
"The principal? Why? He knew me?" I asked
and she raised a brow.
"Aren't you also a scholarship student? I only
came because he promised to pay for it. Who knew you would get into trouble on
your first day here?" She questioned, her eyes softened as she stared at
me.
She has this calm energy that pulled me in. I
scoffed. "About what you said, what do you mean by that?"
I asked and her eyes widened. She scanned the
surroundings, before she pulled in. Whispering as we walked. "I'll tell
you about it when we get to the dorm."
Her voice seemed calm yet scared. There was
definitely something up with this school.
We arrived at the dorm and she helped with my
clothes as she spoke. "I'm also staying here, so if you need anything just
let me know."
She said and I nodded, trying to snatch the bag from
her which she resisted. Glancing at me with some puppy eyes which made me let
go.
"About this school." She said, seemingly
ready to answer my question but I could still feel the fear in her voice. I
would like her to have experience from the way she acted but I also knew it
wasn't a memorable one.
"It's mainly passed on your connections, the
more connected you are. The more chances you have to do whatever you want but
most importantly, there are some people you cannot cross." She spoke, her
voice sharp yet in a murmur.
She moved closer, leaning in as she spoke "DO
NOT CROSS THE SERPENT CIRCLE." She declared. Her eyes scanning the room
like to see if anyone heard her.
Her behaviour was cautious and when I nodded she
retreated, moving back towards the wardrobe as she rounded up with the clothes.
I stared at her, questioning what had just happened.
Were they really that dangerous?
"They are the four heirs to Black moor's legacy
and unspoken rulers of the academy. You mustn't speak of them or even look them
in the eyes." She paused, closing the wardrobe as she moved closer to me.
"Rumor has it that anyone who crossed them,
died. And there's no one coming to save you out here." She said and I
nodded, fidgeting as I tried to figure my mission here.
Did the person who sent me here figure how dangerous
this place was and wanted me dead?
Countless theories ran through my mind before Aria
spoke again, breaking me out of my daze. "But anything apart from that,
you're fine. I've survived over a year as a scholarship student. If I can, you
can."
She said, flashing me a smile as she walked towards
her desk.
Finishing up some things I didn't know about. I
turned towards my desk also, seeing the already prepared time table and
textbooks I probably needed to study.
I looked towards her, hoping she would look back so
I could ask a few more questions but she didn't.
I sighed and buried my head into the desk, drifting
off to sleep. It was an exhausting journey after all.

A loud thud suddenly hits my desk, startling me as I
raise my head up to see Aria smiling sweetly at me.
I rubbed my eyes as she stated. "It's lunch
time and hurry up, once the dining hall closes no one is getting food."
Her words snapped me out of the desk as I raised my head and stared at her
blankly.
She kept the same smile on her face as she hopped to
her side, speaking as she moved. "It's time to eat, and you only have
three minutes left before I leave you."
She declared, almost like a threat. I sighed, moving
to the bathroom as I hurriedly washed my face and went out to her.
She was already standing by the door at the time I
got out, about to shut it close when I slipped out. "Hey. What's the
rush?" I asked glaring at her.
"Didn't you hear what I said? Get there any
later than when the bell rings and you will be getting leftovers. The food is
limited." She said and I shook, getting food here was also a problem?
I moved closely with her, like a toddler just
leaving the house. Not until we arrived at the dining hall did she pause.
She turned back to me and said "The bell will
ring in a few seconds and we will get the chance to order." I stared at
her, relaxed before I looked at the line. It wasn't even time and over ten
people were waiting.
Her words were really true but still I was confused.
"Why so tight when the rich come here?" I
asked and she chuckled, heavily.
"The rich? They eat customized food from the
chef assigned to them while us, we eat from a limited share of food. There
isn't enough food to go around even though we're less than fifty." She
replied, leaving me dazed.
I stood there, head foggy till it got to my turn. I
grabbed the same find as Aria did and went to sit with her.
I looked around the place, citing the exquisite
corner in the place. The place seemed like where princes stayed. I stared in
wonder when her voice came pulling me back to reality.
"Everyone eats here, so be careful who you look
at."
I nodded, looking down at my food before I heard an
uproar.
Students falling like they had seen ghosts, while
some were scrambling to get out of the way. I squinted my eyes in curiosity
when Aria tapped on the table.
"They are here."
