Chapter 5 - CHAPTER 5- SOLARYN

Long before the duel, before the arena went silent, Solaryn Deythar was already a name that echoed along the marbled corridors of vaelcrest academy.

Born into The House of Deythar, a family wealthy in affluence, honor, and prestige a continuous line of Lightborn talents, the boy carried himself as if he understood the burden of that legacy, yet unlike those who displayed their lineage like a trophy, Solaryn didn't have to show it off. His skills spoke for themselves.

On the day he first made contact with the Elemental Orbs in the Entry Hall, the very air appeared to curve in his direction. Light followed his command in a manner the instructors rarely saw, curving, solidifying, shattering into numerous individual streams while maintaining composure. He didn't just control light. He formed it, assigned it meaning, substance, and keenness.

By his second year, he had received the title "The Light Unbroken". Not an official title, but a title that arose from admiration, a term murmured by colleagues and instructors after witnessing him endure a sparring match against three advanced students without his barrier wavering even once.

Solaryn was not just talented, he was respected. He possessed a unique blend of technical expertise and natural charm that attracted others without any effort on his part. When he laughed, others paid attention. When he spoke, they observed. Even Nyxar had once acknowledged, if only internally, that there was something about the boy.

Then all of a sudden he vanished. Stopped attending lectures, spotted nowhere around the academy grounds, No farewell, No ceremony, No clear reason. The rumors filled the gap his absence left. Some said a powerful mage from beyond the Shadow Sea had seen his performance and demanded to take him as an apprentice. Others claimed the Council itself had offered him a position in a covert order. A few whispered darker theories. Some that the brilliance of his light had attracted something far older and more dangerous.

Whatever the truth, Solaryn was gone. The Light Unbroken became a ghost story in the making.

Until he returned.

And when he did, it wasn't to exchange greetings. It was to stand across from Nyxar in the dueling ring, his expression calm but unreadable, the sunlight catching the faint edge of a smile. The kind of smile that promised no restraint.
