Chapter 32 - Enter the Dungeon

The two remaining snakes hissed violently at the adventurers after the death of their conjoined triplet. Icarus instinctively formed a thin shield in front of the group as green venom was shot towards them.

It hissed and slid off the barrier, burning through the ground it landed on after.

Acid was one of the easiest types of attack to defend against with magic, as its damage was over time instead of all at once, meaning as long as it only touched your shield for a short time, it didn't use a lot of mana.

However, the attack was not over; the goat was also enraged by the killing of the snake and began bleating frantically. Seven purple sigils hovered in the air around it and formed skull-shaped curse spells.

The skulls blazed with white ghost fire and shot towards the adventurers. Icarus sensed this attack would be much harder to block.

He heard a low humming sound coming from his shoulder.

In the blink of an eye, the view in front of him vanished in golden flames.

The adventurers behind him stared wide-eyed in disbelief at the baby dragon perched on his shoulder.

"Lance! What did I tell you about attacking without my permission?!"

The dragon stared back at him with a slightly guilty expression.

The skills had been blown away; however, two beady purple and black eyes stared back through the raging fire.

Every single flame was snuffed out in an instant; the goat's gaze did not shift from Icarus and the Baby dragon. The snakes suddenly hissed angrily and started thrashing wildly, biting and pulling as if trying to escape from the body of the goat.

But before they could, they shrivelled and died, falling limp to the floor beside their brother.

The goat did not stop there, however; its entire body began smoking, its skin began bubbling and bursting, spewing blood from dozens of holes, from these holes parasites crawled out and fell to the ground before shrivelling and dying themselves.

The goat's body began shrinking, muscles shrank, tendons snapped, bones broke and decomposed until all that was left of the goat.

And even that disappeared, leaving only the goats' disembodied mouths floating in the air.

Icarus tensed, a spell that sacrificed the caster's own life. This would be ridiculously powerful, and often, maybe even considered impossible to defend against.

"Enter"

The resounding words were all that left the goat's lips before they disappeared. Icarus remained still, surrounding the entire group with defensive magic for several seconds.

Krak!

The ground beneath the cave burst open, revealing a chasm. Icarus aimed his staff and prepared to meet the oncoming spell with his own strongest spell.

But before he could do so, his barrier was instantly blown apart, and his magic fizzled away.

A building the size of a skyscraper had burst forth from the ground and now stood only about a step away from him.

"This is... The real dungeon?"

Bjorn sheathed his axe, "seems so. Guess we have to head in?"

A blond-haired man behind them spoke up with his head held in his hand in thought.

"Are we sure that's wise? I mean, we have literally no idea what's inside of that place, it seemed to come from somewhere much deeper than where the goblins came from anyway... Hey wait! Where are you guys going-"

Everyone else had seemingly ignored him and went into the large arch doorway that led inside the building. Upon opening it, dust streamed down and made Icarus gag a few times. After opening his eyes, he was slightly confused.

The room was empty, not exactly showing any signs of a massive stairway leading down to the dungeon or anythin-

They suddenly rocketed downward and stopped abruptly.

The blond-haired man stared down into the hole where the building had vanished and turned before sprinting away.

Inside the building, everyone looked around in disorientation, simultaneously yelping as the doors flew open.

A bizarre sight met them as their eyes adjusted to... Light?

As the group stepped out of the dungeon, they saw a blue sky, clouds, trees, and green grasslands stretching for miles.

"What in the world..."

Icarus turned back to the group.

"Everyone, stay alert. We can use this building as a base for now. We will search the surroundings and come back here, alright?"

Everyone looked to him for a moment before a massive cracking sound made them turn back.

Where the building had stood, there was now nothing; it had once again disappeared for no apparent reason.

Icarus cursed, wondering how they would get back to the surface now, he suddenly snapped to attention.

The other adventures formed a circle.

They were staring at the trees that surrounded them.

The trees that looked regular, however, perhaps were... Too? Far away?

But if they looked regular then...

How large was this place?
