Chapter 5 - Trash?

Right before his eyes, despite the heavy crash into the stone wall and the loud sound accompanying it, the guard's expression didn't even flinch as if nothing had just happened.

However, even then, Shen disregarded the beauty of the power display before him and couldn't help but find the guard's reaction completely disrespectful, but his face remained expressionless on the outside. It's just that a thought suddenly surfaced in his mind.

'Why do I feel that this body's owner before I take over it was trash in this noble family?'

That's the only explanation that made sense to him. Given the way the guard treated him, it was as if he were a clown standing in front of a client. It felt...wrong given their identities.

After some time of continuous laughter, the guard finally recalled that the patriarch had agreed to the meeting with his son yesterday night after treating his injuries and steadying his chair before replying with a serious expression.

"Young master, I'll inform the patriarch right away, just wait here."

The guard didn't even bother taking a second glance at the kid before him and stormed to the mansion, his attitude making Shen feel even slightly irritated.

'Also, why do I need to wait since I already have an appointment?' With that thought in mind, Shen followed behind the guard with leisurely steps. His face twitched from time to time as the pain from walking for tens of meters didn't completely vanish yet.

The gate to the mansion was split into two sections, one for grand events that occupied a quarter of the front wall, while the other was a regular door that fit a single person, positioned right in the middle.

Right inside the mansion, the whole scenery changed, and the atmosphere itself seemed cooler than the outside world. Just by standing here, Shen could feel his pores open and a feeling of peace and serenity wash over his whole body.

'This can't be done through simple mortal objects; this has to be magic!' Yone's body trembled from the good feeling he was getting bathed in, especially since his legs seemed to heal upon contact with the energy inside the mansion and felt much better.

"Sir, the patriarch is currently waiting for important people; you should tell him to..."

Several meters in, the narrow corridor leading from the entrance opened into a vast hall. The flooring shifted from worn stone to polished obsidian tiles that reflected the light from hovering crystals above.

'Some people talking?' Shen heard some faint voices and hurried his steps, only to find the guard that just told him to wait chatting with a middle-aged man wearing grey armor with a spear sheathed behind his back.

Seeing the young man approach them, the grey armored man stopped his words mid-sentence, glared at the guard, and rushed out of the mansion, not bothering to even greet the young master.

'Such a useless body I took over.' Shen was speechless but didn't say anything and merely spoke inwardly,' Synapse, you said something about collecting data, right? Can you scan the mansion and save its data?'

Shen wasn't sure if such a thing was possible, but he really wanted to try it out, especially since he felt that the shimmering runes he saw from the outside had a part in the energy spread inside the mansion.

[Beep! Scan on process...processing various information on existing data and comparing with the mansion.]

[Ding! Unknown information...processing the mansion failed...data saved...data unable to be identified...]

[Detected several high-energy entities scattered throughout the mansion...detected four beings with energies that cannot be measured.]

[Ding! Mansion scan complete...The host can choose to create separate files or place all the information into one general file...The host is required to stay as far as possible from the energy sources!]

Hearing the various sounds like a microwave that was just used to heat his food, a faint smile appeared on his face,' Truly marvelous.'

In front of him, several blue screens appeared and vanished at astonishing speed before him, till after a couple of seconds, two screens were left. The right one held a map with several red dots scattered around him and three levels shown separately from one another, each a floor if he guessed correctly.

The left one, however, held a file without a name, like a pc file, and a waiting process of several dots was placed right under it.

'What's the point of files?' Shen inquired, unsure of what to do.

[Ding! Host, the files allow you to access information on various topics much more easily and quickly without hindering the information processing.]

Shen nodded his head and casually named the file runes before he also ordered Synapse to save the map and expand on it as he walked and explored through the world, and show it to him whenever he asked for it.

Synapse did as told and created both the file plus the map.

His thought process and way of handling the situation monumentally left even Shen astonished before he regained his composure.

'Seems like the brain tumor or whatever disease that was holding me back,' He felt great clarity as he was thinking and deducing things, almost identical to his state of mind in his first world.

Brushing away those thoughts, Shen gazed at the guard sweating in front of him and slowly said," Lead the way, I'll follow you to where Father is."

The guard was sweating even more profusely, and his eyes darted left and right, seemingly asking for help,' What kind of problem have I run into? If I knew that he wasn't welcome, I would have never...'

However, before he finished his words, Shen had already walked past him and headed up the stairs leading to the second floor, his actions making the guard think that his eyes were playing tricks on him.

'Since when was the young master so charismatic?'

Behind him, the guard paused and glanced back. Something about Shen's composure, his pace, the way his eyes scanned the hall, the confidence in each step, made the man's skin crawl.

He couldn't explain it, but suddenly, this didn't feel like the same "young master" who used to stumble through the halls like a stray cat.

For a second, the guard thought he saw something behind Shen, a vague silhouette of the patriarch's aura flashing through his mind. It vanished just as fast, but the impact of it still lingered in his heart.

Gulping, he adjusted his tone completely. "This way, young master. Please allow me to personally escort you."
