Chapter 26 - Chapter 25: This Is Advice For You

"What are you thinking?"

In the closed Princess Bar, O'Donnell, who was packing up, looked at his friend Logan with a puzzled expression. Seeing his face, O'Donnell was incredulous. "Damn it, what are you trying to do? If you're going to do something stupid, I'm not going with you."

He lowered his voice to offer some advice. "You were there that night, and you saw it for yourself. It was an absolute miracle."

"Over 100,000 people died that day, over 100,000, do you understand, Logan?"

"Now, everyone in Madripoor has become a fanatical believer of his. The hatred is like a flame—whoever touches it will be burned."

Logan wasn't wearing his usual camouflage eye patch. His rugged face, covered in stubble, looked a little weary.

"He shouldn't have died," Logan said quietly.

"No one among those people deserved to die, Logan. I know that guy was your friend and helped you a lot, but don't forget who he was: a war criminal, an executioner, a man who killed countless people."

As a friend, O'Donnell was one of the few who knew Logan's identity and past. He knew that Logan's Japanese friends and their family had happened to be in Madripoor that day, and the result was exactly as he'd feared.

Logan fell silent. He sighed and drank the wine in his glass. "I know. I just feel a little regretful. I have one fewer friend left in my memories."

"Regretful? You'd better be grateful, Logan. Don't forget how many people you've killed," O'Donnell sneered.

Logan shook his head. "The people I killed were on the battlefield or were manipulating others. I never subjectively wanted to kill an innocent person."

"That's why I think that man is not so bad. The large-scale development of the downtown area has brought those former zombies back to life."

O'Donnell put down the bag in his hand, leaned against the bar next to Logan, and looked out at the empty bar. "After so many years, I had grown accustomed to that kind of life, but those poor souls who were living in a drunken haze now have hope. I am happy for them."

"Hope is often the most precious thing in a dark world."

"I'm surprised to hear you say something so philosophical, Logan."

At that moment, the closed bar door opened, and a graceful figure in a green dress walked in. Sunlight streamed in through the glass outside, adding some light and shadows to the dim bar.

She stepped through the light and shadows and walked up to Logan and O'Donnell.

Without even turning his head, Logan said, "I thought you were burned to death."

"Were you sad for me?"

"Um, I said a three-second prayer," Logan said as he spun his high chair around to face the beautiful and charming woman. "You seem a little different than before."

"Is it because your country was taken away, Viper?"

"I'm not sad about it, Logan, because I have seen another, different world." Ophelia nodded to O'Donnell, who sensibly went into the bar, took out a wine glass, poured her a whiskey, and handed it to her.

"I thought a woman like you would never be conquered by others," Logan said in surprise. He had once made a deal with this woman and knew her character very well. She was like a venomous snake—cold and vicious, but he had to admit that she also had a natural leadership style and would never be inferior to others, even in the face of death.

"All women in this world can be conquered, but the premise is that the man has the ability to conquer. He clearly has that ability."

"I'm a little curious."

"Do you want to meet him?"

"Forget it. You know I don't like to get involved in these things. He is very dangerous, so dangerous that I just want to stay away." Logan picked up his wine glass, clinked it with Ophelia, and took a big sip.

"But you didn't leave."

"Because he left." Logan took a cigar from his pocket, cut off the tip, lit it, and waited for it to catch fire, shaking it gently.

"Your sense of smell is still so sensitive."

"What do you want from me?" Logan asked casually, puffing white smoke from his cigar.

"A warning."

"A warning?" Logan was puzzled.

Ophelia took a delicate sip of her wine, and her eyes cut toward Logan like a knife. "You know what I'm talking about. Don't let those people meddle in things that aren't their business."

"At least three thousand Mutants died in Madripoor that day."

"I don't want those two old guys coming here to cause trouble."

Mutants can be good or bad. Many of the Mutants who came to Madripoor were there because of crimes or to escape, and they were the ones who couldn't escape their fate of being burned to ashes. As the leaders of the two Mutant factions, no one could predict what the two old guys would do.

Especially Magneto. His declared goal was to establish a Mutant kingdom and make Mutants the masters of the Earth. With so many Mutants dead, whether it was his true feelings or just to stabilize the hearts of the Brotherhood, he would have to make a statement. Otherwise, as a leader, if over three thousand of his fellow Mutants died and he took no action, the Brotherhood would dissolve. No matter how evil and sinful these Mutants were, there were many members of the Brotherhood who didn't care.

Viper also knew this, so she was warning Logan.

"Tell your professor to stop the old man from coming to Madripoor. Otherwise, if you offend my leader, the consequences can be seen in the fate of hundreds of thousands of people." Ophelia finished the wine in her glass, gently placed it on the bar, and turned to leave.

Finally, she left a message.

"As for the transaction in the past, this is a piece of advice for you."

Logan was left silently puffing on his cigar.
