Chapter 35 – SEED: Discussion

Tolle Koenig, looking sorrowful, spoke to Miriallia Haw.

"Miriallia, um… I'm going to check on Kira. He…"

Miriallia Haw replied,

"Tolle, go ahead. I'm fine."

"Okay, Miriallia. I'll be right back."

Tolle Koenig turned and left, secretly following after Kira.

Halfway there, he ran into Kuzzey Buskirk. The two exchanged a brief nod, then continued together behind Kira.

Kira came to the observation deck window and began to cry loudly.

Hearing Kira Yamato's sobs, Tolle and Kuzzey stopped, leaning against the wall.

Kuzzey gestured, suggesting they let him cry for a while before going over to comfort him.

Tolle nodded to show he agreed—though what he was really thinking was:

[Sorry, I'm actually here to eavesdrop on this classic scene, just to hear Lacus's sweet voice.

Kira doesn't need us to comfort him. Lacus Clyne, standing right next to him, will take care of that.]

"Nami, release some neo DG cells for me. I want to see how Kira and Lacus interact."

"Understood, Master. So, you're spying, huh? Don't worry—Nami will make sure you're satisfied. Heeheehee."

Three drops of sweat formed on Tolle's forehead. Nami was getting more and more cheeky.

Closing his eyes, Tolle soon saw an image of Kira Yamato and Lacus Clyne before him.

Then, several images appeared at once, and Tolle almost choked on his own saliva.

Nami was way too naughty—these multiple camera angles showed Lacus Clyne's entire body.

From her adorable little ponytail to her modest chest, Tolle stared for a few moments before hastily closing the view.

Inwardly, he thought, Still, this function is pretty great… an absolute godsend for peeping into ♀ bathhouses.

He quickly adjusted the view and reminded himself:

[I'm a decent person. I'm here to watch a classic scene, not to peep at beautiful girls.

Besides, Lacus Clyne's figure is too plain—nothing worth seeing, nothing worth seeing.

If I were going to look, it'd be at the Meer Campbell version of Lacus—that one's worth seeing.

The original Lacus just isn't worth it, nope, not worth it.]

Kira cried for a while, then noticed Lacus Clyne floating over, silently watching him.

Kira immediately stopped crying, staring at Lacus in a daze, completely forgetting about Flay Allster from just moments before.

From the sidelines, Tolle had the urge to shout, Let go of her, let me take over!

Unfortunately, without enough strength—and without revealing his true identity and abilities to Lacus Clyne—she would never be interested in him. How could an ordinary Natural possibly be more appealing than the Ultimate Coordinator?

Lacus watched Kira for a moment, then reached out as if to wipe away his tears.

Kira panicked and stepped back, wiping them away himself before asking,

"What are you doing out here?"

Lacus gently pushed open the glass window and floated up, saying,

"I was out for a walk, and suddenly I heard someone crying loudly."

Kira, blushing, said,

"That's not good… You can't just come out so casually. They might take you for a spy."

Lacus moved closer to Kira, and he instinctively took her hand.

Feeling embarrassed, he quickly let go. Lacus smiled and looked at the pink Haro beside them.

"But Little Pink loves going for walks."

The pink, round Haro chirped happily, "Haro, Haro…"

"How should I put it… if the door were locked, it would definitely find a way to open it."

The Haro then made an unhappy noise, "I don't want to go back, I don't want to go back…"

Kira glanced at it and said,

"Anyway, let's head back. Come on."

He reached out his hand, hoping Lacus would take it.

But she didn't—and from the sidelines, Tolle silently applauded, Nice one, good job.

"The war's already over, right?"

Kira turned his head sadly to gaze out into space.

"Yes, thanks to you."

"Then why do you still look so sad?"

"I never really wanted to fight… because I'm also a Coordinator.

And Athrun… he's a very close friend of mine."

Lacus asked curiously, "Athrun?"

"Athrun Zala—the pilot of that red mobile suit, the Aegis Gundam."

Hearing this, Kuzzey Buskirk's expression faltered, and he quietly left.

Tolle spread his hands helplessly. "Alright, I'll go too. I can watch remotely anyway."

He left with Kuzzey, listening in as they walked.

After all, walking with his eyes closed would look ridiculous—he wasn't blind. Besides, there wasn't much to see; listening was enough.

Lacus and Kira continued talking as Tolle tested the long-distance eavesdropping function.

"He's a good person, just like you… it's so heartbreaking."

"You know Athrun Zala too?"

"Athrun Zala is my fiancé…"

Good signal—nice and clear.

Tolle and Kuzzey returned to the cafeteria, where Miriallia Haw was talking to Sai Argyle about Flay Allster.

Tolle sat next to Miriallia, while Kuzzey quietly headed to the counter.

Sai Argyle said,

"So, because he's a Coordinator, he never really planned to fight seriously?"

Tolle defended,

"That's not true—Kira has always fought hard."

"No, I'm not doubting him. From the bridge, I can see how grueling mobile suit combat is. Even if he didn't want to, I know how hard it is."

Kuzzey suddenly interjected,

"But… is that really the case?"

Tolle knew what he was about to say, but he couldn't just admit it—so he tried to get him to stop.

"Kuzzey…" he said instinctively.

"Tolle, you heard it too, right? What he just said to that Coordinator girl?

That stolen mobile suit—the pilot of the Aegis Gundam—is actually Kira's close friend.

We both heard it. He said they were very close friends."

Tolle was speechless. This bastard Kuzzey sold me out in record time.

Miriallia Haw and Sai Argyle were both shocked.

Kuzzey then walked out, leaving Tolle still reeling.

Miriallia turned to Tolle and asked, "Tolle, is what Kuzzey just said true?"

Tolle sighed helplessly and nodded, confirming it.
