Remember when I said earlier that Rhea was spinning around just at the King's presence? Well, now she was quiet, silent, and it bothered me.
It was like when the words left the King's mouth everything in her shattered.
Well, the Luna managed to respond on everyone's behalf, Alpha Edward's behalf, let's say. She said to be delighted.
The King satisfied, said goodbye and then turned to me, kissed my hands before he walked out, his guards following him.
There was silence until the King disappeared. That's when Akeem jumped, breaking the silence and declaring something ridiculous.
"He can't marry her. She's mine." He told Alpha Edward.
"Son, will you stop with this obsession over an advisor."
"This is not obsession, Father. He can't take her from me. She's mine to hurt." Akeem refused to give up. I slowly turned toward Darly's direction and found him pacing back and forth right there in everyone's presence.
The Luna, on the other hand, had her hand on her chin. She seemed to be thinking.
I looked back at Darly, who was now looking at me. He didn't say a word, and after a long moment he raked his hand through his hair, huffed, and walked out without anyone noticing.
"Son, this is ridiculous. She's not even your mate."
"But she's Darly's and I want her."
"Wait, hold on a sec. What did you say?" Luna walked over to Akeem and Alpha Edward.
"And you say you love your son," Alpha Edward scoffed, which caught my interest. "The advisor has been your son's mate. He rejected her."
"And Darly told you that?"
"I'm an Alpha. I found out." Alpha Edward admitted, and that's when I remembered there was a time he questioned me about my relationship with his son.
It was weird, but I never guessed he knew. I mean, he was the Alpha. He reads minds, so he probably read his son's mind once, but I just didn't think he ever thought of me.
"My son is mates with her and I'm just finding out now?" Luna seemed so surprised.
"Yes, Mom. Why else would I want to marry her if not to annoy my brother." Akeem rolled his eyes and the Luna dismissed him. "Mom, I'm not done speaking."
"There's nothing to say here. She is the King's mate and he wants to court her. End of discussion." Luna was a bit rough on him, but well, he was never her favorite.
"Fine, Mom, fine. But you…" He turned to me. "You are going to be mine. I will get my revenge on my brother. I will mate you."
"Go!" Luna raised her voice at him and he stumbled and walked out. Yes, the Luna was scary when she wanted to be.
"She's the advisor. I can't ask her for advice here," Alpha Edward said to Luna, who just gave him a plain look before calling to one of the servants.
"I want the guestroom made ready. Also add it to my list, we shall go to the seamstress and have a dress made for her, something delightful for the King's eyes." She instructed, and as the servant walked away she turned to me.
"Luna, I—"
"When Darly insisted on keeping you alive I thought it was because he wanted to sleep with you, as he usually does." She chuckled. "Then it never happened. I mean, I've been blind. All that hate, I thought it was because you had taken his position as the advisor or something."
She came toward me and I pulled my whole strength together and remained still.
"Little did I know you are his mate. Gosh, it must have hurt being treated like a slave when you could be Luna…" she laughed. "I mean, I would never dream of it, but well, you slaves hope. But I guess the Goddess was looking out for me, as now you are going to be my ticket. Ticket into the palace."
"He hasn't married her yet," Alpha Edward said as Luna sounded possessed.
"I will make sure he does. This is palace power level, Alpha. You shouldn't be sleeping on this." She turned to Alpha Edward, who seemed conflicted about whether to side with her or not.
"This is why I didn't want Darly to be Alpha. He missed a lifetime chance with his true mate."
"Oh my, what can an Omega do as Luna? That will be a joke. I'm actually proud of my son for this." Luna replied, right in my face.
"But you think the King can just marry a weak Omega?"
"He's the King. He already has three powerful queens."
"But she's the true mate. This can start a war."
"Okay, let that be the King's problem and you…" She turned to me and I quickly nodded my head to show her I was listening. "I want you to go in there, take a shower and wait for me, as you and I are going to have a talk. We have to be of one mind."
"Yes, Luna."
"Thalia, right?" I nodded. Wow—this must be really important for her to even catch my name. "If anyone bothers you you should come to me. I need you in one piece now." She said, and I thanked her before following one of the servants who led me to a guestroom.
It was like a dream. I knew this house in my sleep; I knew every corner, since I literally worked here. But now I was the one escorted like some… luna.
'You better snap out of it before I ruin this for you.' I threatened Rhea, but she didn't react. It was like she had fallen into a coma or something.
The servant opened my door and I walked in to find another servant standing with her hands behind her back the same way I used to stand when serving.
"I ran your bath and brought dresses for you to choose from. Is there anything you need?" she asked. I looked around at how nice the room was.
It wasn't that I had never seen it before, but I had never slept in it. It never even occurred in my dreams.
I mean, yeah, maybe once at the slightest thought, if Darly accepted me. Even when he rejected me the bond was still there, hence the thought and–
"Get out!" The door barged open and Darly strode in. The servant, without a fight, quickly moved toward the door.
"Now!" He rushed her, and apparently she wasn't fast enough. He grabbed her by the arm and literally pushed her out, then slammed the door hard before facing me.
At first I wanted to be strong until I met his eyes, which had now changed color to that of his wolf.
It was like he was about to transition and, since Rhea, even if she were here, could not take over, I stayed down, nodding while my heart raced as I wondered what he was about to do now.
