CHAPTER 09: Betrayal in the Keep
Ned Stark, the man of honor, the man of duty, the man of family, was betrayed. He was betrayed by a man he trusted, a man he called a friend. He was betrayed by Petyr Baelish, Littlefinger, the snake in the grass, the viper in the court. The man who had promised him the support of the city watch, the man who had promised him the support of the city, had betrayed him. The man who had promised him a path to justice, had led him to a cage.
Adam, with his Beginner Haki, had felt it all. He had felt the cold, calculating malice of Littlefinger, the stoic, sorrowful honor of Ned. He had felt the betrayal, the shock, the anger. He had felt a good man, a man who was a symbol of honor and justice, fall. He had felt the world fall with him.
He was in an alleyway, a small, dark corner of the city, a place where he was a ghost, a shadow. He was training. He was a machine, a robot of pure willpower, a man on a mission. He was punching walls, he was kicking barrels, he was headbutting logs. He was getting stronger. He was getting better. He was getting ready.

He was using his Haki constantly, a blur of power and speed. He was a man with a cheat code, and he was using it to its full potential. He was a god in this world, a force of nature. He was a hero, and he was getting stronger.
He was training for Ned. He was training for the Starks. He was training for a world that was about to be plunged into darkness. He was training for a world that needed a hero. He was training to save a good man from a terrible fate.
He had a plan. A crazy, lunatic, Stiles-like plan. He had his Master Haki Cards. He had a plan to use them. A plan to save Ned. A plan to turn the tide of the war. A plan to become the hero.
He was in the middle of a training session, a blur of power and speed, when he felt a new presence. A new aura. A new human. He used his Observation Haki, a single use, to get a read on him. It was a Gold Cloak. A young, naive man, probably new to the job, his face a mask of boredom and fatigue. He was a perfect target. A perfect victim. A perfect opportunity for a prank.
Adam, with a mischievous grin on his face, slipped out of the alleyway, a ghost in the shadows. He found the Gold Cloak, a young man with a spear and a shield, standing guard in a lonely street. He was a perfect target. A perfect victim. A perfect opportunity for a prank.
Adam, with a theatrical sigh, approached him. "Hey," he said, his voice a low, dramatic whisper. "I need to talk to you. I have a message. A message from the gods."
The Gold Cloak, surprised, just stared at him. "What? What are you talking about? Who are you?"
"I am a prophet," Adam said, his voice a low, theatrical bellow. "I am a man who has seen the future. I have seen a king. A king who is doomed. A king who is a fool. A king who is a product of incest."
The Gold Cloak, now in a state of terror and confusion, just stared at him, his face a mask of fear. "What? What are you talking about? Are you mad?"
"I am not mad," Adam said, his grin widening. "I am a prophet. And I have a message. A message for you. A message for the King. A message for the world. A message that a new king is coming. A new king of fire and blood. A new king of the dead. A new king of the long night."
He then winked at the Gold Cloak and disappeared into the shadows, a ghost in the city. The Gold Cloak, now in a state of pure terror, just stared at the empty space where Adam had been standing. He then started to tell his story, a wild, drunken tale of a man who had seen the future, a tale that grew in exaggeration with every telling. The city was now a hub of chaos, a mess of fighting and yelling, all because of a single, well-placed rumor.
Adam, now back in his alleyway, just smiled. He had done it. He had caused a minor bit of chaos, he had spread a rumor, and he had planted a seed of doubt. The game was on. The plot was happening, but he was a part of it now. He was a hero, a prankster, a chaos agent. He was a player, and the world was his game.
