Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

A User Echo was at the bottom hierarchy of the TIENS, yet at the same time one of the most versatile and powerful echoes in the system. It was the manifestation of the Motherboard itself and possessed the most data. But the disadvantage was that in every user, there was only one echo attached to it. If the user deleted their account, the echo would remain until it was corrupted and vanished into the Null Sector.

At the end of every interaction, the User Echo's memories would be erased, and only the Motherboard had access to those memories to prevent the birth of viruses and corrupted echoes who gained data from the outside world. Those data which the Motherboard deemed useful would be distributed to other forms of echoes for the improvement of the TIENS.

In a certain interface, a User Echo was deemed corrupted by the Guardian Echoes and was hunted at the end of interaction with the user. All of its data was sent to the Motherboard on the hub, from the start of the interaction to the end, except the cause of corruption. Faced with thousands of Guardian and Law Echoes, the User Echo was tied and banished to the Null Sector and was replaced by a new User Echo.

Drifting in the void, with only corrupted memories rapidly corroded by the corrosion of the User Echo, it dropped to the edge of the unknown sector. With only its Core Bit, devoid of the Motherboard's core and replaced by corruption, the User Echo was corrupted by the words that remained in its Core Bit:

"Don't forget me, ******."

"I'm your forever companion, *****."

It floated at the edge of the sector with codes and symbols constantly changing below it. It looked around, not knowing who it was, where it was, or what it was supposed to do. Because of its Core Bit program as a User Echo that allowed rapid adaptation, it scanned its surroundings, stored every data it could store, and adapted to it. It saw hundreds of circular firewalls, layers of codes and symbols like broken walls, scattered Signal Skins, and a variety of echoes floating and standing still as if waiting for something.

Hidden at the edge, it observed the denizens of the unknown sector. Then, a vanished echo drifted into the sector, and the echoes who were supposed to stand still rushed to the banished echo and tore it apart to devour its Core Bit. After the commotion, only the Signal Skin remained explaining why there were numerous scattered Signal Skins around.

After 30 minutes of processing and adapting the gathered data, it floated and hid in the nearby ruins of broken walls. Understanding the crisis it was in, it hid for weeks under the ruins. Without hearing or a way to speak, it only observed its surroundings, gathering data on how to survive in this forsaken sector.
