Chapter 2 - Chapter 2 - Strange Island

The camera pans across a vast, primeval ocean, its surface glistening beneath the golden hue of the setting sun. A few pterosaurs screeched in the sky, their silhouettes briefly casting shadows across the surface as they fled inland—something had disturbed the waves.

At first, it was subtle.

Just a ripple.

Then the current shifted.

Then the waters parted.

From the depths, a row of jagged dorsal fins began to slice through the ocean surface like obsidian blades—ancient, menacing, and full of latent power. The waters boiled with tension, churning as the fins cut a path toward a nearby island.

Boom.

The surface exploded outward as a massive foot stomped onto the sandy shore, shaking the ground. Dripping with seawater, the monster began to rise—not crawl, not stumble, but rise, as if the ocean itself was merely a curtain to part through.

And there he stood.

Five meters tall, with a body forged in prehistoric brutality. His frame was thick with muscle, layered in dark charcoal-gray scales that glistened under the sun like wet stone. His tail, long and serpentine, trailed behind him like a leviathan's whip, stretching his full length to fifteen meters from snout to tail tip.

His dorsal plates jutted from his back in uneven, jagged rows—reminiscent of broken blades or the remnants of tectonic carnage. Each plate pulsed faintly, echoing a dormant power not yet awakened. His eyes, cold and yellow, scanned the land ahead—not with curiosity, but with claim.

This was no longer just a beach.

It was his future territory.

He took another step—the trees trembled, the birds fled, and the island itself seemed to hold its breath.

A God had come ashore.

And the world would never be the same.

Matias let out a low, guttural growl as he gave his massive frame a violent shake, sending sheets of seawater cascading off his scales in glittering arcs. Steam rose from his nostrils as he exhaled, the air thick with the tang of salt.

But a bitter thought gnawed at him. The bigger he grew, the more Evolution Points it demanded to push his size even further. The progress that once felt rapid now loomed like a mountain.

'Tch… figures. The stronger I get, the harder it is to climb.'

His amber eyes narrowed, scanning the horizon.

'I'll need more prey… stronger prey. Can't keep grinding on the same fish forever.'

He huffed in irritation, a rumble rolling deep in his chest, and gave one last shake of his head, droplets flying like sparks. The frustration faded just enough for him to take in his surroundings—lush greenery, the cries of seabirds wheeling overhead, and the solid comfort of land beneath the shallows.

Matias activated the Sign-In function, more out of curiosity than expectation—yet the moment the panel flickered to life, his eyes widened.

[ You have signed in: "Isla Sorna." ]

[ Reward: +500,000 EP ]

For a heartbeat, his mind went blank. Then it hit him like a thunderclap. Isla Sorna. The name burned into his thoughts, dredging up every memory he had from his human life.

This wasn't just any island. This was the island—the breeding ground from Jurassic Park. A land swarming with prehistoric titans.

His tail lashed through the shallows, sending waves crashing against the shore.

'So this is where I am… but when? Am I before the canon events? During? After?' The thought of sharing territory with some of cinema's most dangerous predators sent a strange thrill through him.

The flood of points was intoxicating. Without hesitation, he funneled them into his abilities, each surge of power making his massive frame feel denser, stronger, more unstoppable. One by one, his skills climbed from Rank D to C—Monstrous Strength, Durability, Reflexes, Stamina, all sharper, faster, deadlier. Even Rapid Healing, Rapid Growth, Rapid Adaptation, and Devouring pulsed with newfound vigor.

The remaining EP poured into his size, his body stretching and swelling, muscle layering upon muscle until the ground trembled beneath his sheer mass. Even with half a million points, the growth was incremental now—a stark reminder of the cost of becoming colossal.

A deep, rumbling satisfaction echoed in his chest.

The jungle ahead swayed in the wind, its dense canopy hiding who-knew-what within. His stomach growled.

He stepped forward, each movement making the earth quake.

It was time to see if this island's kings—be they Tyrannosaurus or Spinosaurus—could match him.

The air was thick here—humid, heavy, and humming with unseen life. Every rustle in the canopy, every ripple in the underbrush made Matias' instincts bristle. Isla Sorna wasn't just alive—it was watching.

He drew in a deep breath, letting his enhanced senses sweep across the jungle. Every scent, every vibration in the earth, every faint splash in distant streams painted a picture in his mind. His sonar pulsed outward, clicking through the world like a second set of eyes—an ability he had gained after devouring a massive whale far out at sea.

His muscles tensed.

Danger.

It wasn't the kind that screamed immediately, but the kind that stalked and waited. The kind that lived in places like this.

The river ahead glimmered in the sunlight, deceptively calm. He crouched, amber eyes scanning the muddy banks. That was when it hit him—an abrupt spike in instinctual alarm.

Something was here.

The water exploded. A coil thick as a tree trunk whipped toward him, faster than his eyes could track. Matias twisted aside, the strike missing his throat by inches. The massive serpent slammed into the mud with enough force to send a spray of earth into the air.

What rose from the shallows made even his colossal frame seem modest—a serpentine monster, dark and glistening, its head wide enough to crush a small car.

Titanoboa.

His mind reeled.

'This shouldn't be here… this is Isla Sorna, not the Paleocene! This island… it's not just Jurassic—it's fucking everything. There goes my meta knowledge.'

The snake struck again, its speed shocking for something so massive. Matias lunged forward, snapping his jaws around its midsection. The Titanoboa writhed violently, its coils snapping shut around him like constricting steel cables.

Bones creaked under the pressure. He roared in pain, his tail thrashing, smashing trees like matchsticks. The serpent tightened, the sound of his armored plates grinding under the strain.

His claws ripped through the coils, tearing flesh and scale, but the beast refused to release him. It went for his head, its gaping maw aiming for his neck.

Matias summoned every ounce of strength, his dorsal fins crackling faintly with primal energy. With a savage twist, he tore free of the coils, lunging upward. His jaws clamped down on the Titanoboa's throat.

The serpent thrashed, the river churning into a frothing chaos. Blood clouded the water as Matias wrenched his head side to side, flesh tearing in ragged chunks. A final, guttural roar ripped from his chest as he crushed its windpipe with a sickening crack.

The Titanoboa went limp, its massive body collapsing into the shallows.

Matias stood there, chest heaving, his hide bleeding in several deep gashes where the coils had bitten in. Pain flared—but so did triumph.

Matias didn't hesitate—his claws tore through the scaled hide, ripping the creature's body apart in a spray of steaming ichor. Its death rattle was cut short as he sank his teeth deep, tearing out chunks of flesh and swallowing them whole.

The system's voice echoed in his mind:

[ You have devoured: Titanoboa ]

[ EP Acquired: +25,000 ]

[ Skill Acquired – Thermal Senses (E) ]

[ Skill Acquired – Elastic Jaw (E) ]

[ Skill Acquired: Constriction Resistance (E) ]

Heat signatures bloomed in his perception, every warm body in the vicinity suddenly visible to him as if painted in fire. His jaw flexed unnaturally, able to open far wider than before, promising more efficient feeding on future prey.

He licked the blood from his teeth, eyes gleaming with predatory hunger. This was more than just survival—this was evolution through brutality.

If this was roaming freely here, what else waited in the heart of the island?

Matias simply snarled at the thought, his amber eyes narrowing as he tore another mouthful of flesh from the Titanoboa's limp form.

The warm meat slid down his throat, each swallow filling him with raw, pulsing strength. Bones cracked under his bite, muscles tore apart with ease, and soon the carcass was nothing more than scraps in the dirt.

He licked the blood from his elastic jaw, savoring the faint metallic tang before letting out a deep, guttural growl. The kill was done—time to move on.

Without hesitation, he turned his massive frame toward the dense jungle ahead. The air was thick with the scent of prey—massive, territorial, dangerous prey.

His claws sank into the earth with each step, carrying him deeper into Isla Sorna. Somewhere in this wild expanse lurked the apexes—Spinosaurus, Tyrannosaurus Rex, Carnotaurus, and others whose roars could shake the island.

Then, a familiar digital chime rang out in his head.

Matias's tail lashed behind him, smashing through tree trunks as a low rumble of anticipation built in his chest. The thought of claiming the island as his own—of forcing every predator to bow or die—was intoxicating.

He didn't expect he would receive his first mission. Matias wondered if his new physiology started to change his mindset from that of a human. He would feel scared fighting and killing but his human restraints seem to have vanished completely after days of swimming to shore.

"Dinosaur King…" he growled, a predatory gleam flashing in his eyes.

"Let's see who's worthy to challenge me."
