Nolan glanced first at Miranda, noting the icy look in her eyes. Something had transpired between the women during his absence. Perhaps leaving Rosalyn alone with Miranda hadn't been his wisest decision. He'd wanted to consult with his lawyer before confronting Rosalyn, preferring to arm himself with all the facts beforehand.
Heidi, his attorney, had been just as surprised by Rosalyn's unexpected appearance. She'd cautioned him against making any promises until they could speak further.
"Rosalyn? Please." Nolan gestured toward his office with an open palm. He didn't miss the smug smile Rosalyn flashed at Miranda as she moved from the desk. When she brushed against him while entering his office, he fought every instinct to step away. He refused to reveal any emotion to her. Where once her touch had ignited passion, now it left him completely cold.
