Chapter 44 - 44

Donnie's house was bustling at this time.

There were several cars parked at the door, and many men in formal black clothes were coming in and out of his house, holding various documents in their hands.

Nick Fury, director of S.H.I.E.L.D., was working in Downey's house with his men, attracting the curious gazes of the neighbors.

When Donnie drove up to his house, he was stunned by the scene. This was his house, so where did all these people come from?! They clearly didn't consider his house their own, and didn't treat them as outsiders at all.

The old bartender was lying outside, drinking his wine comfortably and happily.

Donnie dragged the man with glasses over and asked him what was going on.

"I asked you to watch the door for me, don't tell me you invited the wolf in!" Donnie suppressed his anger.

The old bartender looked up, his drunken eyes immediately blinded: "Hey, you changed your hairstyle? It looks great!"

Donny went up and kicked him unconscious. He hated people praising his hairstyle the most. He warned Pietro, who was laughing, with a dark face, that if anyone dared to tell anyone, he would kill him like he had beaten the old bartender.

Pietro instinctively crossed his arms, raised his head, and squinted his eyes, looking at everyone with a very annoying look. He curled his lips in disdain, still brooding over the fact that he had fallen into Donnie's hands. He felt that Donnie was too tricky. In a normal battle, it was impossible for him to be so crazy, killing the enemy while almost killing himself first.

Donnie said, "If a real fight breaks out, there's no point worrying about ridiculous tactics. The best tactic is to kill you. When the enemy knows they can't do anything to you, the best tactic is to perish with you. If I die, you can't live alone."

Pietro was very arrogant and never wanted to listen to other people nagging him. He always thought his choices were always right. But he still listened to some of Donnie's words, just a little.

Honestly, Pietro looked at Donny with a kind of trepidation. He was genuinely frightened by Donny's suicidal attack. He wasn't hurt, but Donny himself was seriously injured. But Donny was truly bold and ruthless, even hitting himself when he got mad.

Unconsciously, Pietro felt a little bit of awe towards Donny. This is a real warrior, he really dares to be ruthless...

Donnie had a grim look on his face and walked straight into the house. He pushed aside several people who wanted to stop him and ran straight into the house.

Nick Fury sat calmly on the sofa, processing a pile of documents with a fluid, commanding those around him. His demeanor was undeniably commanding. His single remaining eye, unblinking, stared at the documents in his hand, as if the only thing in the world was this pile of documents waiting to be processed.

"One-Eyed Man? You're Nick Fury? How dare you come into my house without my permission!" Donnie was so furious that he almost wanted to attack. This house was his family's legacy, and he held it in high regard. No matter who it was, he wouldn't allow anyone to destroy or interfere with it.

Nick Fury, the king of S.H.I.E.L.D. agents for decades, is feared by countless people. He wears an eyepatch, looking at people with only one eye, his stern gaze. Coupled with his tall stature and scarred face, he gives people an overwhelming sense of pressure.

"I didn't come in without permission. Your butler opened the door for me. And I've been waiting for you here for three hours! Three hours! Do you know how much I can get done in three hours?" Fury remained calm. He'd known Donnie would be uncomfortable and had already prepared an excuse to fight back. Until he looked up and saw that his only remaining eye was blind.

"Hey, you changed your hairstyle? It looks really good! But why are your eyebrows gone?" Fury joked. Although he received the news, he still felt uncomfortable seeing the real person.

Downey cursed loudly and suddenly felt extremely malicious towards Fury, the head of the agent.

vomit!

Pietro reacted violently. He looked at Director Fury's same bald head, or black bald head, and he was moved and vomited again. He remembered the scenes on the battlefield just now.

It left some terrible shadows in his heart.

This successfully aroused the director's hostility.

"Have you joined the Brotherhood? Or the X-Men?" Fury asked. After fighting with the Brotherhood for so many years, he recognized Pietro early on. This ridiculously fast guy had once given them a lot of headaches.

Tang Ni shook his head and said calmly, "I have no intention of joining either of them for the time being, so you don't have to worry about anything."

Tang Ni pulled out a brick and, under the horrified gaze of the bespectacled man, struck him fiercely. It seemed as if the kinetic energy he had accumulated was sufficient, and this blow delivered a rare critical hit, sending the bespectacled man screaming and falling unconscious.

The man with glasses was desperate. He behaved very well along the way, fearing that Donny would find an excuse to deal with him. But he was dealt with anyway, and the process was so brutal.

"Okay, now we can have a serious talk." Tony's face returned to normal. Dealing with Fury, the head of the secret service, was undoubtedly a very troublesome thing.

Pietro vomited everything, wiped his mouth nonchalantly, said hello and ran out. He was hungry and wanted to get something to eat.

"Will that kid follow you from now on?" Fury asked.

Tony nodded shamelessly and admitted that Quicksilver would follow him from now on.

Fury didn't comment, but he felt a little envious. It was too difficult for an official organization like theirs to recruit a few powerful extraordinary fighters. Many people stayed away from them when they heard about their origins. It was a good thing that there was no big fight.

"Let's get down to business. I'm here to talk to you about something important." Fury pulled out a thick stack of documents from a pile and handed it to Donnie, motioning for him to take a look. "I'm forming a special team and I'd like to invite you to join us."

Fury told him that this team was specifically designed to deal with some supernatural crisis events. The team members could be considered semi-non-staff personnel. They had a high degree of autonomy in normal times and could move freely when nothing was going on. SHIELD would not interfere, but would provide them with some conveniences, such as various certificates.

"This 'semi-non-staff' is a good term. It's a vague and catch-all term. You guys can decide how to explain it when the time comes." Downey sneered, mocking Fury for playing word games at this time.

"If you don't want to join the X-Men or the Brotherhood, we are your best choice. We will never interfere with your private life. You should know that some people have always been wary of you. After all, you live in New York City and need a layer of restrictions."

"A piece of paper? They don't really think that if I sign a piece of toilet paper, my future will be determined by what's written on it. Tearing up agreements is what those politicians love to do. In their eyes, this agreement is not even as good as toilet paper."

"At least it can reassure them. If you accept, it can at least convey to them that you are someone who can communicate. As long as we have started, we can talk about the rest slowly. Aren't you going to deal with vampires? We can definitely send agents or help you contact a group of excellent vampire hunters, so you can have more helpers."

Fury persuaded, he was very eloquent, analyzing the pros and cons to Downey. It must be said that some of his words did make sense. Even though Downey knew that S.H.I.E.L.D. was a big pit, he was still tempted.

Covered in an official guise, he could indeed avoid a lot of unnecessary trouble. The New York Police Department had already listed him as a dangerous person requiring close attention. Almost every time he went out, he was stared at by the police, which was very uncomfortable.

"Actually, we have a very troublesome matter on hand right now, and we would like to hire you for help. Even if you don't plan to join us, it should be okay to accept our employment as a mercenary, right? Our remuneration is very generous." Fury took the initiative to show his true colors, and wanted to take advantage of the situation to issue the task to Tony first.

"You don't have to go right away. You can wait a while because the target has a stable job. I want to hire you to contact a woman and gather intelligence on her. She's a very beautiful woman. According to our investigation, she's very strange. We didn't rashly alert her, but only put her on a list of people to watch."
