Chapter 9 - Chapter 9

Lucy's back was covered in cold sweat during the high - speed chase.

From time to time, she checked the situation of the people chasing her through the rear - view mirror.

When she saw someone setting up a sniper rifle on the sunroof of a car, her heart sank to the bottom.

She really didn't want to die. She wanted to go home.

Her nose was sore, but she held back the tears.

She turned the motorcycle and took another road around a bend. There was a cliff and the deep sea at the end of the road. That was her hope of survival.

The cars behind kept following closely. Lucy accelerated and rushed off the cliff with the motorcycle without looking back.

At the moment of hitting the water, she heard the screeching brakes of the cars behind.

She broke through the water surface with the motorcycle and then let herself sink into the deep sea without worry.

When Lucy woke up again, she was on a hospital bed.

There were two completely strange men in black standing beside the bed.

The fear of being kidnapped invaded her again.

But before she could even start to tremble, the man closer to her spoke.

"Miss Lucy, you're awake."

"Sorry, we're late. The young master sent us to escort you home."

It took Lucy a while to realize that the person he was talking about was Victor.

"Go home?"

The man in black replied, "Yes, we've arranged a private plane for you. But considering your injuries, we can rest for a few days before setting off."

"No." Lucy propped herself up with difficulty and sat up, saying, "I want to go back as soon as possible. The sooner the better."

The two men in black glanced at each other.

"We'll do as Miss Lucy says. Then we'll go out and make some arrangements first."

As soon as they left, Eisner walked in.

His face was ashen, and his eyes were bloodshot as he stared at Lucy.

"Lucy, I've finally found you."

"As soon as I got the things on the plane, I turned back to look for you immediately. All I heard was that you'd fallen off the cliff."

"Thank goodness, you're okay."

Hearing his affectionate words, Lucy just wanted to laugh.

It was he who asked her to take the box and attract the enemy's firepower.

It was he who chose to put her in a difficult situation to protect Isabella.

Now, what was he pretending for?

But she didn't say a word. She just gave a faint "hmm" as a response.

Eisner had a lot to say, but was stopped by her cold attitude.

He felt a sense of loss in his heart. He suddenly realized that Lucy seemed to have changed a lot.

He was naturally cold - natured, while Lucy was like a ball of fire.

When they were kids, she used to follow him around and call him "Handsome Brother".

When she grew up, she said she liked him hundreds of times a day.

She had never been cold to him. Her eyes looking at him were always full of endless affection. When did it start to change?

Before he could think it through, his phone vibrated violently.

He answered it, and Isabella's voice came through the receiver in the quiet hospital ward, so clearly that Lucy could hear every word.

"Eisner, when will you come back? My leg hurts so much. I can't do anything conveniently."

Eisner stole a glance at Lucy's face from the corner of his eye, only to find that she was expressionless and her eyes were calm.

He quickly hung up the phone and explained to her.

"I was in a hurry to send the things to the airport, thinking it would get you out of danger. I drove too fast, and Isabella's leg was accidentally injured and fractured."

"Lucy, Isabella has been in poor health and has asthma since childhood. She's not as strong as you. So, I'm going to go and see..."

Before he could finish speaking, Lucy interrupted him directly.

"Okay, go ahead."

Her non -chalant attitude stabbed at Eisner again. He didn't know how to deal with these strange emotions.

He could only follow his old habit, say goodbye to Lucy, and go to find Isabella.

"Lucy, wait for me a little longer. After Isabella's leg gets better in a couple of days, we'll go home together."

Lucy suppressed the mockery in her heart and forced a faint smile, saying, "Okay."

Her smile softened Eisner's heart.

He couldn't help but reach out and touch her face, saying, "I love you."

"Then I'll leave first. I'll come to see you tomorrow."

Less than ten minutes after Eisner left, Victor's men came back.

"Miss Lucy, the private plane is ready. It's on the hospital rooftop. Shall we set off now?"

Lucy endured the pain all over her body, got out of the hospital bed, and sat in the wheelchair they had prepared for her.

There was no sadness of parting in her heart, only the joy of being free.

"Let's go!"

Escorted by the two bodyguards arranged by Victor, Lucy got on the plane.

At the moment the plane took off, she finally showed a smile.

Finally, she was going home.

The private plane cut through the night sky of the foreign country and broke through the clouds.

From then on, she would never return.
