Chapter 5 - 5 — Mission

[Currently]

"(All that in just two days… and it's already Monday!)" He needed to get moving. He couldn't stay holed up in that tiny apartment forever.

Besides, this body had school to attend.

Once back in the apartment, he flipped through the folder he'd previously ignored due to the System's sudden appearance. Inside were details confirming his enrollment at this high school.

"(Thankfully, all the info was here. Otherwise, I'd have had to call someone.)" With the backpack slung over his left shoulder and the folder in his right hand, he headed for the door.

"Ah! Look at the time—we're gonna be late! If we don't hurry, the teacher will kill us!" One of the girls nearby suddenly shrieked, dragging her friend along at breakneck speed.

Kaito pulled out his phone with his left hand and checked the time. He was already two hours late for the normal school start.

"(What a mess… Well, if I'm already late, why rush?)"

Walking calmly through the entrance, he stepped into the building.

Kaito was currently dressed in fairly standard student attire—a slightly tight white shirt with a red tie. The top button was undone, and the tie hung loosely, as if thrown on in a hurry.

He also wore the pants he'd bought from the System. He'd noticed they adjusted perfectly to his legs—comfortable, with fabric that stretched as much as he needed.

His shoes were simple black sneakers. He'd never liked overspending on footwear, considering it stupid.

His hair, previously straight, now spiked up sharply—thanks to the Template he'd obtained three days ago. It was tied into a ponytail that reached his hips.

[Ting]

The System's signature chime echoed in his head, startling him. Was his life in danger again?

"(My first mission is to knock someone out? Does this System want me thrown in jail?)"

Inside the school, he checked the folder again, confirming his assigned class.

"(So, I'm in...)"

Fashion and Clothing Design Department. Weird. He'd never heard of a high school offering courses like this.

"(And who the hell is this 'Logan Lee'? How am I supposed to—)"

Too focused on the folder, he didn't notice the solid mass he bumped into until it staggered back. Confused, he looked up, unfazed by the impact.

"Hey, bastard! What the hell's your problem? You wanna die?!"

In front of him stood a mountain of fat and muscle, glaring furiously. The guy's expression was downright threatening—his hair tied back, his white shirt stained with blood.

"Uh— Sorry, I'm new, and I was just checking which class I'm supposed to—"

"I don't give a fuck."

Huh?

Rude.

The guy—presumably around 1.90 meters tall—stalked toward Kaito with an irritated scowl. Kaito, meanwhile, stayed rooted in place, folder in hand, a bead of nervous sweat trailing down his cheek.

On closer inspection, Kaito was actually a few centimeters taller, forcing him to look slightly downward.

"Your face… pisses me off."

To put it simply, Kaito was good-looking—something Logan clearly didn't appreciate. He wasn't in the mood for this. He needed to vent his frustration on something before ditching this shitty school for good.

"I'm gonna wreck it, pretty boy."

"Excuse m—?"

He didn't get to finish. Logan lunged, ducking low to wrap his arms around Kaito's waist in a tackle.

"(I'll slam him down and break him before he can fight back.)" Logan was confident. He knew his own strength well. Someone like the guy in front of him wouldn't be a problem.

After all, Kaito weighed way less than him, right?

"Hey, your name's Logan, right?"

Logan collided with something immovable. Despite boasting absurd brute strength, his entire body jerked to a halt on impact.

His legs trembled from the strain. His arms, locked around Kaito's slender waist, failed to lift him even an inch. His teeth ground together so hard they creaked.

It was like trying to topple a building.

That was the closest comparison. His confident, pissed-off expression faltered. Maybe he'd bitten off more than he could chew…

Kaito, meanwhile, took a surprised step back as Logan clung to him, pushing with everything he had.

This felt kinda… gay. Not that Kaito was into that. He loved women.

"(Sorry, buddy. You're not my type.)"

He reached down, grabbing Logan's hair in a firm grip while giving him an almost pitying look.

"Sorry. Nothing personal."

Logan, bewildered, looked up just in time to see Kaito's fist already raised.

"You might wanna clench your teeth."

Death.

That was the last thing Logan saw before his brain shut down.

The heavy thud of Logan's body hitting the floor echoed through the hallway. His head was embedded in the wall, knocked out cold by a single punch.

"Damn, the wall." Kaito shook out his hand. It'd been years since he'd actually hit someone. He hadn't expected this result—he'd imagined an epic struggle, testing his skills before emerging victorious…

But instead, he got… this. That Template really had an effect. This body had ridiculous brute strength.

"I didn't kill him, right?!" Panic hit as he realized what he'd just done. He'd practically forced a kid's head through concrete. That'd kill any normal teenager. Luckily, Logan wasn't normal.

Crouching beside him, Kaito checked Logan's pulse. Still alive. He exhaled in relief, stood, and picked up the folder he'd dropped in surprise.

After dusting it off, he glanced back at Logan's sprawled form. He'd have to learn control—or he might actually kill someone.

The sheer volume of new info made his head spin. He hadn't had time to check his progress until now.

"(But it looks like the Template came with a lot of surprises~.)"

He couldn't even imagine what he'd get once Mastery passed 50%. Just thinking about it made his fingers tingle with excitement.

"(But they're not gonna hand everything to me on a silver platter…)" Being limited to leveling up only through fights was annoying. Was he supposed to go around punching everyone?

Sounded like a decent short-term plan—until he wound up in juvie.

"For now, let's play dumb."

Whistling, Kaito walked away, hands in his pockets. He had nothing to do with the scene that just unfolded. He was just a regular student looking for his classroom, after all.

"(If there are cameras, I'm screwed.)"

[Minutes later]

"Second year, Fashion Department… should be here." Before entering, he glanced at his fist—still smeared with blood from the punch he'd thrown earlier.

He wiped it on his pants in a spot he hoped no one would notice, then knocked firmly on the door.

The chatter inside died instantly. The door opened, revealing a short professor who eyed him in confusion.

"Did you lose something, young man?" The professor had to look up due to Kaito's height.

"No, no. See, I'm new. Just running a little late." He forced a nervous laugh. The professor remained stoic, then glanced at the clock on the wall.

"Two hours is 'a little late'?" Shaking his head, the professor sighed. These kids were the future of the nation.

"Since you're new, I'll let it slide. Come in and introduce yourself."

"Mhm." Still tense, Kaito nodded obediently. He hated this part—new schools always made him nervous.

The professor walked ahead, flipping through a book on his desk to confirm the transfer student's arrival.

"Alright, as you can see, we have a new student joining the department today. He's from Japan, so treat him well." Adjusting his glasses, the professor motioned to Kaito.

"Go on. Introduce yourself." His tone left no room for argument.

Whispers immediately filled the room. Transfer students were rare here—especially ones like Kaito.

"Whoa, from Japan? Is his family rich or something?"

"Who cares? Look at his face! It's like an angel sculpted it~"

"I feel like I could nap on his pecs all day~"

Similar comments from the girls flooded the air, while the guys could only grumble. One look at Kaito's arms shut them up fast.

"(Feels like I've lived this scene before…)" Sitting near the back, a nervous-looking Daniel Park watched with a strained smile.

"My name is Kaito Lee." Hand over his chest, he introduced himself with a calm smile. The folder was now tucked into his bag.

"I hope we get along, and I won't be a bother." He gave a slight bow—courtesy that only amplified the whispers.

"(I hate this, I hate this, I hate this, I hate this.)" Inside, he was a bundle of nerves. He'd never been good at this. Being the center of attention always made his anxiety spike.

"(Did I do it right? Kept the calm smile. No one noticed anything.)" Mentally reassuring himself, he straightened up and looked at the professor.

"Alright, take the seat next to Zack." The professor pointed to an empty desk. Kaito nodded and walked over, his steps measured.

"(I hate school life.)"
