Normally, the Heroic Spirit summoned by a Caster is merely a clone of the Heroic Spirit's main body, lacking a personality. After completing their mission, they disappear and return to the Throne of Heroes.
However, in the original Holy Grail War, due to the power of the Holy Grail, the Servants appearing in Fuyuki City were directly connected to the Heroic Spirit's main body, summoned from the Throne of Heroes by the Holy Grail and given a physical form.
Although this Fuyuki City, where the supernatural has receded, lacks the Holy Grail and the power of magic, the existence of the Dragon Balls made up for this deficiency.
Last night, Kisaragi Rin had already completed a round of inspections for them in the Workshop.
The Heroic Spirits summoned by the Dragon Balls are somewhat similar in composition to the monsters of the Main World.
Both construct their bodies from energy and possess a core. The only difference is that in the Fate World, the energy forming a Heroic Spirit's body is magical power, and their core is a Spirit Core.
Although he had never personally seen Servants summoned by the Holy Grail, from the inspection results, there was no difference in physical form between Servants summoned by the Dragon Balls and those by the Holy Grail.
If that's the case for the body, then what about the soul?
According to the normal setting, the soul that forms a Servant is merely a piece of information. When the Servant dies, it returns to the main body, which can then know the Servant's experiences in a recorded manner, much like reading a book.
Perhaps the creators of Fate just enjoy this slightly tragic setting, as such an outcome is truly a bit too 'harsh'.
The Workshop could not analyze whether the Servant's soul came from copied information or the main body in the Throne of Heroes. However, Medea, as a Caster from the Age of Gods, could naturally discern the essence of her own existence.
"My soul is connected to my main body. In this body, reconstructed by the Dragon Balls, my soul is my original essence."
Medea's answer was good news for Kisaragi. After all, as long as their souls were connected, Kisaragi would naturally find a way to obtain the essence of the Heroic Spirits.
If their souls were not connected, then Kisaragi Rin would only be able to try to completely separate his Servants from their main bodies, making them independent entities.
Having clarified the essence of the Servants' bodies and souls, Kisaragi felt a little relieved.
The body was merely a vessel for the Heroic Spirit to descend upon Fuyuki City. As long as the soul within was the main body, then the Servant's essence was the Heroic Spirit.
Knowing this, Kisaragi Rin began to ponder how to seize the essence of the Heroic Spirits in the Throne of Heroes from the Fate World. Since he had already decided to take Medea and the others, he had to take them all.
According to the Fate Worldview, there are approximately three types of beings that can be called Heroic Spirits.
1: Heroic souls who, having achieved great feats during their lifetime, become legends after death and are worshipped by people, thus elevating to a transcendent existence.
2: Heroes who do not actually exist but are born through the accumulation of faith in myths and legends.
3: Individuals who, during their lifetime, made certain contracts with the World, and in exchange, became Heroic Spirits after death.
Medea, Medusa, and Esdeath—their existences are preserved in the Throne of Heroes, and their current Servants are bodies constructed from their souls and the Dragon Balls.
Saber is somewhat different. She became a Heroic Spirit under the third circumstance. At the brink of death, she made a contract with the 'World' Alaya, hoping to obtain a wish from the Holy Grail—to 'return to the day of selection'—even at the cost of eternal reincarnation.
In a sense, after being enticed by Alaya into the contract to become a Heroic Spirit, Saber, even though not dead, was already under the control of the Fate World.
As for Medea Lily, Kisaragi Rin and Medea both didn't quite understand her existence. More than a Heroic Spirit, more than a Servant, her essence seemed to be a part separated from the summoned Medea.
When the time comes to take Lily, it will probably also involve finding a way through Medea.
It's difficult to take Saber completely, but she isn't the type to casually leave the Fate World with someone. If her problems with Britain aren't resolved, she will only continue to answer summons from other worldlines after participating in this Holy Grail War.
For now, Kisaragi Rin is only considering Medea, Medusa, Esdeath, and Lily.
To take all four of them completely is actually quite 'simple': just go to the Throne of Heroes and seize them.
As for how to seize them, that's the problem.
Given the nature of those two Counter Forces, it's highly unlikely they would let go of any of the 'workers' they've brought into the Throne of Heroes, especially since Kisaragi Rin wants to take three high-grade Heroic Spirits, plus a 'buy three get one free' Lily.
At this moment, Lily walked over from a distance. Before she even reached them, a smile was already on her face, and she waved, calling out, "Master, time to eat."
"Okay, I know."
Standing up to respond to Lily, Kisaragi Rin silently bowed to Alaya in his heart.
Regardless, it's always right to apologize first.
If there's no way this time, he'll just take a few Servants first, and then seize the Heroic Spirit main bodies next time. Kisaragi Rin is definitely going to do something 'bad' to Alaya anyway.
"What is Master thinking about? Although Lily is weak, when it comes to talking things over, she can still support Master, you know..."
Lily held Kisaragi Rin's hand, walking slightly ahead of him, seemingly leading the way.
"I'm thinking about how to marry Lily."
From another perspective, wanting to take Lily away was no different from marrying Lily.
"Really?" Lily looked up at Kisaragi Rin, and seeing his serious expression, she pressed her face against his arm and asked with a giggle, "Then can Master make me some chocolate?"
"...Normal chocolate is no problem, though."
Kisaragi Rin remembered this little one's setting; he couldn't make chocolate using a demon god yet.
Lily didn't consider Kisaragi's 'normal' and stopped, pulling him. She spun around to face her Master directly and whispered, "Master, please lower your head."
As she spoke, a pure smile appeared on Lily's face, and her very cute cheeks flushed.
Kisaragi Rin bent down, and the now-adult Lily pressed her lips against him.
Only this time, the location was different from before.
It was gentle, unlike Esdeath's assertiveness or Medea's awkward stiffness.
Lily was incredibly soft, like an apple-flavored fruit gummy.
Lily blinked at Kisaragi Rin, secretly extended the tip of her tongue to lick, and then quickly pulled it back.
"Please don't tell Sister Medea, okay? I'll continue to work hard in the future!"
Kisaragi Rin glanced behind Lily and said to her, with a mix of pity and helplessness, "Medea already saw."
Lily: "!!!"
After watching Lily's sneakiness, Medea walked up to Kisaragi, pulled his hand away, and told Lily unhappily, "Come to my room later."
