Chapter 5 - AUTOMATIC VENDING MACHINE (AVM)

an, Liora, and Rudy saw the small black cube slowly expand until it was more than ten meters in size.

Then its shape began to change little by little, starting from the top part which turned into something resembling the roof of a building.

The front began to imitate the shape of a door, windows, and attractive detailed carvings.

The transformation continued for more than ten minutes, and finally, what appeared before their eyes was a building like a ten-meter-high house in a silvery white color.

The sturdy-looking walls reflected the sunlight like pure silver, making the building look magnificent yet not flashy. Right above the main door, there was a carving in the shape of coins and gemstones.

...

The grand and uniquely styled building surprised the two people and one dog. Reyhan invited Liora and Rudy to enter through the main transparent door, which was three meters high.

As soon as the door, made from an unknown material, opened, the scent of fragrant wood and new metal filled the air.

The marble floor shone brightly, rows of sofas and tables were neatly arranged, while the walls were decorated with paintings of various types of gemstones and mesmerizing jewelry.

In the center of the hall, there were ten automatic currency exchange counters, and a strange machine that looked like a large ATM with a mix of sci-fi and magical vibes.

Behind the counters was a five-meter-wide panel, blue in color, floating neatly in the air.

The images and numbers there displayed symbols and currency values from various kingdoms across the continent.

The numbers that occasionally blinked showed the exchange rate of each currency against the resort currency (Royal).

"This place…" Reyhan whispered, staring in awe. "I can already imagine how surprised guests will be when they first see this."

Reyhan stepped inside, feeling the soft cool air from an air conditioner that somehow worked without any machine.

Then Reyhan looked back and saw Liora frozen in place with her mouth open. Meanwhile, Rudy had already gone wandering around as usual, perhaps to mark his territory like a dog.

"Hey Liora, do you have any coins or jewelry?" Reyhan asked, waving his hand to snap Liora out of her astonishment.

"Ahh… I don't have any coins. But I have this bracelet…" Liora, now aware, spontaneously checked her pockets, but in the end, the only thing she had was the bracelet on her left wrist.

Seeing the bracelet, Reyhan abandoned his intention of trying the exchange machine. So he said while waving his hand, "No need… that's the only keepsake from your parents, so keep it safe. Besides, we can try the machine another time."

Liora felt quite touched. After all, since Reyhan had rescued her, he had taken good care of her, from clothing to a place to stay. Because of that, she decided to give her bracelet,

"It's okay, it's just a bracelet. And I can't keep dwelling on the past." She said while handing over the bracelet.

...

After they argued about it several times, Reyhan was finally forced to accept the bracelet.

He went to one of the counters.

"Welcome, please place the item you want to exchange into the drawer in front of you, and when everything is inside, please close the drawer door." A voice came from the machine, sounding somewhat robotic yet pleasantly melodious.

Reyhan, already familiar with how ATMs work, didn't hesitate and promptly placed the bracelet into the box before closing the drawer door.

After that, the drawer glowed and opened again after a few seconds.

"Please take your money. This currency is the formal currency used in all resort facilities. If you are not satisfied with the exchange result, please contact the resort manager." The machine's voice echoed again.

When Reyhan took the item from the drawer, it was no longer a bracelet but three pieces of plastic money. The money had an image of an island with various buildings and beautiful water parks.

One of them was marked R20, while the other two were marked R1. It seemed that their values were 20 Royal and 1 Royal each, so Liora's bracelet was worth 22 Royal.

"Hey Liora, look, now we have money, it's time to go shopping…" I said to Liora, who was staring at me, while waving my hand.

However, Liora tilted her head and her rabbit ears stood straight up. "Shopping? Where can we shop?" she asked in confusion.

Only then did I remember that the other mission reward had not been installed yet.

I scratched my head in embarrassment, but still pretended to be casual and said, "Of course at the store…, come with me outside." After speaking, I immediately pulled Liora's hand out of the currency exchange place.

...

As before, I claimed the Automatic Vending Machine (AVM) reward, and installed it next to the CEM.

This time it was no longer a building, but still large. Its height was about five meters, its width to the sides was ten meters, and its depth backward was five meters.

I was quite surprised, I thought it would only be the size of the vending machines I usually saw, but this was way too big. There were ten purchase screens, each spaced one meter apart.

I went to one of the purchase screens.

"Please tell me what you want. Check the screen for available categories," the machine's voice spoke when I stood in front of it.

(It's so nostalgic, seeing an automatic machine in another world) Reyhan thought.

On the screen, there were several easy-to-understand images—such as food, drinks, fruit, alcoholic beverages, ready-to-eat meals, snacks, etc. Even children would know what was depicted there.

Then Reyhan bought several kilograms of rice and eggs as well as various types of vegetables and cooking spices.

After all, it seemed the prices of goods in this machine were not as expensive as Reyhan had thought.

At first, he thought the prices would be sky-high, but they seemed almost the same as on Earth.

[Host, your purchase price as the resort owner is the base price, and all profits will be returned to you after deductions. So it's natural for the prices to be cheap. However, when guests buy, the price will increase from twice to a hundred times, depending on how rare the same item is in this world and several other factors.]

So that's how it was.

Now that I think about it, because of this world's level of civilization, the various prices and values of goods will also differ. (If that's the case, I'll definitely make a lot of money from some items, hehehe… maybe pepper is a choice, like what I often read in novels.)
