Chapter 5 - Type-AB

[Hero Mission Completed!]

[You have been rewarded: Nothing]

After finally finishing his mission, Antonio let out a great sigh.

It had been a tedious task, and he wanted to spend no more time in the sewers, or even cleaning in general.

His Power Rank was still at F tier; however, the longer he used his Dirt Purge ability, he larger the radius he could use it increased.

He could now clean faeces up to a meter away.

Isn't this great? I can now do what the average human can with the right utensils.

His own sarcasm only helped to annoy him, so he prepared to head back to the exit before getting any more worked up.

...

However, whilst travelling through the tunnels, Antonio heard something.

At first, he questioned whether he was going crazy, but after standing still and listening closely, the sound came again.

Tap, tap, tap, tap.

Footsteps.

He heard footsteps, which made no sense to him.

He had been down in the sewers for hours and had never once heard a sound but for his own breathing.

Who could possibly be down here with him?

After such a boring mission, he couldn't help but wish for some sort of excitement in the day. The other students would be able to return to the Academy with tales to tell, whilst he would simply be ridiculed for being a cleaning man.

And so, he pulled his mop from his back, feeling his strength rise from D to C rank, and followed the sound of the footsteps.

---

Tap, tap, tap.

Tap, tap, tap.

Eventually, Antonio came to an opening in the tunnel. One that led to a large room with shallow sewage water up to his ankles. It was where the footsteps had led him, but when he entered the space, there was no one there.

'Have I really gone crazy?" He thought to himself at first.

Until he heard the sounds of a female voice coming from above.

"He's here, Captain."

"Thank you... What was your name again?"

"Valessa, sir."

"Ah yes, Valessa. I will be sure to reward you amply later. Please meet me in my chambers once the sun has fallen "

Antonio stood there, looking up to find the source of the voice, but the shadows obscured his vision.

Did I stumble into some sort of kinky dungeon?

I hope not... spare me, please, whilst i still have my innocence!

Then, suddenly, a figure fell from the ceiling, landing in the dirty water with a splash.

At first, they were shrouded by the shadows. Antonio clutched his grip around his mop, wondering whether he would need to protect himself, and uncertain that he would be successful.

Then the man stepped forward out of the darkness.

"Do not worry, I'm not here to hurt you. I'm here to help."

Standing before Antonio was a man in a white superhero suit, with red stripes running down its length. Behind his back was a red cape which flowed down to the water below.

His body was well built, each muscle rippling with strength; however, one of his arms was missing at the elbow and was now replaced by a robotic prosthetic.

He stood roughly 6ft tall, had white skin, long blonde hair, and a large blonde beard, all lining a weathered face.

It only took one glance for Antonio to realise who the man was.

Type-AB, also known as Morrison. Once the 32nd-ranked superhero in all of the Formed States before he went rogue.

And also the man who killed Stainer. Antonio's father.

"You... you..." Antonio stuttered as his fists clenched around his mop. "YOU DARE YOUR FACE IN CENTRAL CITY!"

Antonio dashed forward with his mop drawn and ready to strike. His rage had overtaken him, and his body acted on its own.

After Type-AB killed his best friend Stainer, he lost his hero license and was made a wanted criminal. Ever since then, he had not shown his face in any of the fifty states.

And now, he was right in front of the son of the man he had killed only a year ago.

Antonio had all the plans to get revenge; however, his mop simply crashed into the man's shoulder and cracked.

He stood there, unmoving, whilst the Type-AB stared down at him. There was no malice in his face.

"I'm not here to hurt you, Antonio. I'm here to he—"

Before he could finish, Antonio swung two punches into the man's face, both smacking into his jaw with average force.

Antonio didn't care to hear the words. He just wanted to do damage.

"Why...Why, why, why!"

He kept slamming his fists into the man's jaw, yet it did nothing. His head hardly moved and his body didn't flinch. Type-AB just stood there, unaffected.

Once Antonio was tired, he fell to his knees, defeated. He felt as though he wanted to cry, but his dignity didn't allow him to.

"Why... why am I so weak, that I can't even avenge my own father?"

Type-AB let the young man sope for a while, and then afterwards, he cleared his throat.

"I understand that you must hate me, and quite frankly, I don't care. I didn't lure you hear to earn your forgiveness, or to hurt you."

Antonio remained on his knees as the man spoke.

"But... what I will do, is ensure that you're never bullied again for your powers. Once you leave these sewers, you will not be "The Janitor" that you were prior. I will baptise you, and make you reborn."

The confident words caught Antonio off guard. He looked up at the man in the white suit standing before him, in utter confusion.

"Why?" He asked, anger still evident in his voice.

Type-AB's lips twisted into a slight smirk. He reached into his sleeve and pulled free a small needle. Afterwards, the man proceeded to draw a scratch down his one good hand.

Antonio stared in confusion as purple blood dripped steadily into the water below.

"Because I owe it to your father." The man said. At this point, ample blood was falling from the wound.

"Now then, rise to your feet. Let's find out the true potential of your superpowers."
