It has been three days. They have been walking on foot. 30 miles left to base.
Mina walked with some scrap and rations in her huge bag. Max walked behind her, playing with a stick. Again. Where is he finding all these sticks from? They're long out of a forest. It's a desert like place.
Max poked Mina with the stick.
"What?" Mina asked.
"Do humans always walk this much?" He asked, still poking her with that stick.
"No. Only when everything else has exploded. And stop poking me with that stick."
"Oh. Okay."
They walked for another hour. Then, she felt it. The presence of monsters. Max paused. Three 8-Star monsters appeared.
"8-Star?! That's dangerous. Max, you-"
Before she could finish, Max vanished. He appeared in front of the monster and punched it in the face. It got obliterated. He picked up a stone and threw it on the other monster. It shot at an incredible speed and hit the monster like a bomb. The third one sprinted. Max poked it with a claw. It died. Poison, Baby!
Mina stood there, stunned. "Wait-, why did they attack you? The 7-Star monsters ran when they saw you. Then why?" She asked.
"That's because I'm suppressing my aura as you said. They can't sense the aura so they won't run and think I'm weak." Max explained while smiling.
"Oh. So that's it. Makes sense."
Max cut the poisoned monster's corpse and started eating it. Mina was kind of disgusted. But Max? He offered her some of it. "Want some?" He asked.
"No. I'm not into toxic stuff?" She refused calmly.
"It's not toxic. Not to you."
"What do you mean?"
"You felt energy run through you when the contract was formed, right?"
"Uh, yeah?"
"That was my magic power. You and I are connected. Poison will have no effect. It will heal you instead. My poison will work the best on you. You have any ouchies?"
"Never say that word again."
"My poison will heal any ouchies you have."
"Didn't you hear me?"
"It will heal cuts, broken bones, and even make your skin smooth."
Mina froze. "Smooth? How smooth?" She asked, visibly interested.
"Yup. Like deer butt smooth."
"That's a weird way to put it."
"You interested now?"
"No."
She says, but an hour later, the whole monster was cooked. It got cooked. Literally. She cooked it on a pan she made from the scraps she had with her.
"You're interested in it."
"I'm doing it for survival."
"You put those things on it. The things you call 'spices'."
"Survival tastes good with seasoning."
"You made that thing called 'sauce'."
"I'm thorough."
She took a bite of the meat. "It's not bad. It's fairly good actually."
"See? Poison everything I eat from now on."
"For smooth skin?"
"For good health."
"Really?"
"Really."
"Okay."
I Typical women, I'd say.
