Chapter 9 - The Binding Vow

The mission goes wrong.

A cursed spirit stronger than expected. A miscalculation. Blood on the ground. Nobara unconscious. Megumi barely breathing. The air is thick with cursed energy, heavy and suffocating. The spirit looms—grotesque, towering, its form shifting like smoke and bone.

Yuji stands alone.

His fists are clenched. His cursed energy flickers like a dying flame. His breath is ragged. His body screams for rest. But he doesn't fall. He doesn't run.

Sukuna watches.

"You're outmatched," he whispers from within. "Let me in."

Yuji refuses.

He fights. Bleeds. Screams. He throws punches that barely land. He dodges with instinct, not skill. The cursed spirit laughs—a sound like broken glass. It grabs his throat, lifts him into the air. Bones crack. Vision blurs. The world tilts.

Sukuna sighs.

"You're going to die. And with you, me. That's unacceptable."

He forces the shift.

In an instant, Yuji's body changes. The cursed energy surges—no longer flickering, but roaring. The cursed spirit hesitates. It recognizes the presence. It remembers the name.

Sukuna grins.

"Now you kneel."

He doesn't fight the spirit.

He erases it.

One slash. No technique. No flourish. Just pure, overwhelming force. The spirit doesn't scream. It doesn't resist. It simply ceases to exist.

The world stills.

Sukuna stands in Yuji's body, surrounded by silence. The battlefield is scorched. The air hums with residual power. He looks down at Megumi, unconscious. At Nobara, bleeding. At Yuji's broken form within.

"You're weak," he says. "But you're mine."

He retreats into Yuji's mind.

The domain is different now—fractured, unstable. The walls flicker. The ground shifts. Yuji stands before him, furious. His fists are clenched. His eyes burn.

"You took control!"

"I saved your life."

"I didn't ask you to!"

Sukuna steps forward, eyes glowing like embers.

"Then let's make it official."

He offers a deal.

A Binding Vow.

Yuji will allow Sukuna to take control for one minute—whenever Sukuna chooses. In exchange, Sukuna will not harm anyone during that time. No blood. No death. Just control.

Yuji hesitates.

"Why would I trust you?"

Sukuna smiles.

"You won't. But you'll agree. Because you're desperate. Because you're afraid. Because you know… I'm the only reason you're still breathing."

Yuji clenches his fists.

"Fine."

Sukuna raises a hand. The vow seals itself in cursed energy, etched into the fabric of Yuji's soul. The air crackles. The domain trembles.

But there's a catch.

Yuji forgets.

The moment the vow is made, Sukuna erases the memory. The domain fades. The walls collapse. Yuji wakes in the real world, confused, aching, unaware of what he's agreed to.

Sukuna chuckles from within.

"One minute. One day. And when it comes… you'll regret ever trusting me."
