Chapter 135 - Reward

In the Resident Evil world, on Earth, an increasing number of individuals began receiving invitations from the Ishimura. This diverse group included remnants of the Umbrella Corporation who had been captured by the United Government, as well as top talents from various industries, particularly those with management expertise. Of course, Marcus's criteria for these individuals extended beyond mere ability; he also placed a high value on their adaptability. After all, not everyone could readily accept a "ditch world" like Warhammer. In short, after a week of intensive searching and a unified review process conducted by Marcus and the other Ishimura crew members, a list comprising approximately three hundred potential recruits was compiled.

However, not everyone on this list chose to accept the Ishimura's invitation. Ultimately, only two hundred people decided to board the vessel. Still at the spaceport in French Guiana, these two hundred individuals were gathered by United Government personnel. In the sky above, the Courage slowly descended, then lowered its gangway. Due to the previous incident involving an attack by anti-United Government forces, the security level for this event had been elevated by several more tiers. The United Government was determined to avoid a repeat of what had happened last time. Soon, these newcomers boarded the Ishimura's bridge and met the legendary captain of the Ishimura, Marcus himself.

"It's a pleasure to meet you all here; you are all talents from various industries on Earth," Marcus began, as per routine, delivering a brief speech that introduced the Ishimura and outlined the rules aboard the ship. He then proceeded to sign a Psychic Contract with each of them. It's worth noting that due to the significant number of new recruits this time, some of the older crew members proposed and organized a welcoming ceremony, to which Marcus had no objection. After the ceremony, these new crew members, guided by the seasoned veterans, began to familiarize themselves with their future lives and work on the ship. As for Marcus, he returned to the captain's quarters.

"Hmm, a week has passed, so it seems the Ishimura truly hasn't been contaminated by anything unclean," Marcus muttered to himself, leaning back in his chair. During this time, he had personally inspected various parts of the Ishimura on multiple occasions and had ultimately found no impure entities from the Warp. Since everything remained normal, Marcus finally felt a sense of relief. He stretched, his body crackling with the movement. Recently, Marcus had been constantly shuttling between the Resident Evil world and the Warhammer world. Managing affairs in the Hive City and simultaneously overseeing the personnel recruitment for the Ishimura had left him physically and mentally exhausted. "Finally, I can get some good rest." Fortunately, with the personnel recruitment now complete, Marcus had some rare time off.

"Beep, beep, beep." Outside the captain's quarters, someone pressed the intercom button.

"Come in." As his voice fell, Isaac and his group walked in. After completing the mission of clearing the Tyranid Genestealers on the Warhammer side, Marcus had brought the five of them back. To ensure they hadn't been infected by the Tyranid Genestealer's strange bioweapons, and also to confirm they hadn't been entangled by anything from the Warp, these five had been under strict surveillance until now, when they finally regained their freedom.

"What is it?" Marcus looked up at Isaac, who was leading the group. The latter held out his hand. "Time to pay up boss. Where are the rewards? We can't work for free, can we?" Isaac's remark clearly showed his seasoned nature.

Marcus rolled his eyes at the comment, opened his system panel, and retrieved several items from the warehouse: an Ork Bayonet, a Chainsword, a Hellgun, a Grav-chute, and a Vulture. Except for the Vulture, the other four were older equipment that had been with Marcus for a long time and were on the verge of being phased out. Giving them as rewards to the group could be considered making the best use of them. After briefly explaining the uses of these items to the five, Marcus casually said, "You can distribute them among yourselves."

After the five had put away their new items, Marcus continued, "Tell me about your feelings regarding the operation." At this, the few of them became animated. Aside from Isaac, who, as a veteran, felt nothing particularly special, and Wesker, who maintained his usual stoic silence, Jill, Carlos, and Tyrell all eagerly recounted their experiences during the Tyranid Genestealer clearing operation. They spoke of their newfound understanding of the Gene Stealers and their observations regarding the combat readiness of the PDF Soldiers. More importantly, they shared their personal experience of the Imperium of Man. Although their time there was limited, and they hadn't personally ventured into the lower levels of the Hive City to investigate, even from the accounts of those PDF Soldiers, they could grasp the dire lives the people of the Hive City were living. In short, their sentiment could be summarized in one sentence: "It's a universe beyond saving." Jill did not hide her stark opinion of the Warhammer world.

"Hmm, that means you all have a certain understanding of that world," Marcus nodded. "Go back and rest; you should have new tasks very soon." After dismissing them, the five prepared to leave.

"Wesker, you stay." Amidst the surprised glances of the others, Marcus called out to the always silent Wesker. After the others had exited the captain's quarters, Wesker, who had been called to remain, looked at Marcus. "Is there something, Captain Marcus?"

"It's about your proposed Tyrant mass production plan." Marcus casually operated the screen in front of him and sent some data to Wesker. "You should find some things on this interesting." Wesker took the data and began to review it. A name on it immediately caught his attention: Alex Wesker. The same surname as his own made him somewhat curious. Continuing to browse the data, Wesker soon discovered that Alex, like himself, was a product of Spencer's "Wesker Project." In a sense, these two could be considered siblings from different parents.

"I will raise your authority, and you will then be responsible for the Tyrant mass production plan, and these people are the subordinates I'm assigning to you," Marcus stated. After quickly reading all the data, Wesker nodded and accepted the task. "That's it then; if you lack anything, just contact me directly." After slightly increasing Wesker's authority on the Ishimura, Marcus waved his hand, dismissing Wesker as well.

"It feels good to be a hands-off boss," Marcus sighed with emotion. Just as he was about to open the system panel to check on the Warhammer side, someone walked in while the door hadn't fully closed.

"Alexia, what, not going to look around the Ishimura with the others?" Marcus smiled, looking at the newcomer. Alexia Ashford, as a new crew member, should have been familiarizing herself with the spaceship under the guidance of an older crew member. Yet, at this moment, she had taken it upon herself to appear in the captain's quarters.

"Compared to this spaceship, I am more interested in the planet and the star system you mentioned."
