If the Tyranid Hive Tyrant and the Tyrant Xenomorph were tyrannical living killing machines, then the Colossus, equipped with Purifier intelligence, was a cold, efficient tower of death that incinerated all enemies.
Without Marcus's direct command, its Purifier AI had already automatically identified friendly and hostile units. Taking four mechanical strides, the Colossus began to move slowly, yet each step covered tens of meters, giving it considerable speed.
"My God! What is that?!" someone from the attacking armed forces shrieked. They were already struggling against two monstrous living weapons; the sudden appearance of this strange high-tech machine was utterly overwhelming.
The next second, accompanied by a roaring command from the Tyranid Hive Tyrant, the two massive thermal ray guns on either side of the Colossus's main body underwent a brief preheating before firing decisively. With a single strike, the superheated plasma beam directly melted two heavily armored main battle tanks.
Moreover, the Colossus's attack was not limited to a single target. As the plasma beam continuously swept across the battlefield, several more war vehicles were instantly vaporized. Their personnel inside were completely incinerated without even a scream. Along the path where the plasma beam had moved, terrifying burn marks were left behind, and a towering wall of fire rose, continuously scorching the bodies and minds of the remaining enemies.
"Monster! That's a monster!" Among the enemy forces, some could no longer withstand the overwhelming offensive of the Tyranid Hive Tyrant, the Tyrant Xenomorph, and the Purifier Colossus. They collapsed, throwing down their weapons, and fled in the opposite direction. The remaining individuals were equally terrified. This was not a war; it was a one-sided slaughter. By now, they had sacrificed hundreds of lives and lost more than a dozen valuable tanks and war vehicles, yet they had not inflicted even the slightest damage on any of Marcus's units.
"Concentrate fire! Attack that giant machine!" the voice of the temporary Commander crackled over the communication array. Immediately after, more than a dozen armor-piercing and high-explosive rounds screamed from tank muzzles, heading directly towards the Colossus. Unfortunately, against the Colossus's energy shield, this was futile.
"Boom! Boom! Boom!" These shells didn't even hit the Colossus's main body, blocked entirely by the thick energy shield. The transparent barrier, tinged with a faint blue, only rippled slightly before settling back into stillness. Forget tank shells; even missiles capable of destroying warships, or small-yield tactical nuclear bombs, might not be able to breach the super-heavy energy shield equipped on the Colossus.
The plasma beam, representing death, continued its relentless slaughter. As the Colossus moved, the entire battlefield instantly transformed into a burning inferno. Most of the enemies left no remains; they were either torn to pieces by the two Tyranid Warbeasts or directly vaporized by the plasma beam.
"High-value target detected! Concentrate fire!" A tank Commander spotted Marcus, who was calmly watching the slaughter from a tree canopy not far away. Through some special channels, they had already learned of Marcus's identity as the Ishimura's captain. For these fanatics dedicated to disrupting communication between Earth and extraterrestrial civilizations, Marcus was an prime target.
Soon, several shells and countless bullets rushed towards Marcus. "What's wrong with these guys? They're still not retreating?" Marcus was a bit perplexed. Normal people, after suffering such heavy losses, would have long since fled like terrified animals. Not every world was Warhammer, and not everyone was a Kriegsman. But even now, some stubborn individuals were still fighting to the death, desperately pouring ammunition onto the Colossus and the two Tyranid Warbeasts. "Are they taking me for a soft target?"
Dispelling his doubts, Marcus pulled out his Hellgun and Plasma Pistol, directly blowing up the few shells that posed a threat to him from a long distance. The remaining storm of bullets, under the delaying effect of his Psionics, could not get close to him at all.
"Damn it, is that guy a monster too?!" A tank Commander, who had opened the tank hatch and was holding binoculars, widened his eyes in disbelief. He had not expected Marcus, a humanoid being, to be capable of such outrageous feats. In the battlefield, a ghostly blue psionic projection constantly weaved through the chaos. Soon, Marcus, wielding his Sunflare Sword, joined the feast of slaughter.
A few minutes later, the slaughter ended. Outside the entire space base, roaring fires had ignited. Damaged tanks and war vehicle wreckage littered the ground. Dismembered bodies were scattered everywhere, emitting a burnt smell under the scorching heat of the flames. Putting away his sword, Marcus led the Tyranid Hive Tyrant, the Tyrant Xenomorph, and the Purifier Colossus back into the space base.
The Aftermath and Global Shockwaves
"It's over, everyone come out." As his voice fell, the door to the safe room opened, and high-ranking officials and dignitaries, their faces etched with shock, emerged, surrounded by their guards. Through the monitoring system, they had witnessed the entire slaughter. They were both surprised by how those fanatics opposing the United Government could assemble such a large army, and even more fearful of the terrifying combat power of the two Tyranid Warbeasts and the Purifier Colossus. Some people looked at Marcus with flickering eyes. Before this, they had no idea that the Ishimura's captain possessed such powerful superhuman single-combat capabilities. This had completely shattered their imaginations.
"Alright, you guys send people to clean up outside." Now that everything was resolved, Marcus did not linger, leaving these people and returning to the Valor.
"Let's go, back to the Ishimura." Calling out to Isaac and the others, Marcus returned inside the Valor. The engine sprayed flames, and the Valor immediately ascended, disappearing into the clouds. Only the United Government's group was left, looking grim as they began to deal with the aftermath.
The truth, like wildfire, could not be contained. News of the large-scale terrorist attack at the United Government's diplomatic meeting with the Ishimura quickly spread, sweeping across the globe. "What is the United Government doing? How could they allow such a large-scale army to gather for a terrorist attack?!" Many people voiced this thought, beginning to furiously criticize the United Government. Some were even more worried, concerned about whether the terrorist attack had caused any casualties and if it would affect the relationship between Earth and the Ishimura.
Soon, the United Government held a press conference, announcing the results of the terrorist attack: no casualties. And with Marcus's consent, they released video footage of the Colossus, the two Tyranid Warbeasts, and Marcus himself, slaughtering the terrorists. One man, two beasts, and one machine, in just a few minutes, completely defeated a medium-sized armored force and slaughtered nearly a thousand people. This terrifying outcome was enough to shock everyone in the Resident Evil world.
In a secret base somewhere in North Africa, Wesker, dressed in a black trench coat, watched with flickering eyes as Marcus, holding a sword, split a war vehicle with one swing and withstood bullet fire on the screen before him.
"This is the direction of human evolution—" Wesker muttered, his voice a low, intrigued hum.
