Chapter 113 - Mission

When Marcus opened his eyes again, he was back on the Ishimura's bridge. Leaning back in his seat, he began to ponder his next course of action. Roboute Guilliman had already led his vast army away from the Recidous Star System; countless Imperial worlds across the galaxy remained embroiled in war. Marcus believed that no matter how important he might be, he could not compare to the hundreds of thousands of Imperial planets and trillions of Imperial citizens.

Thus, the possibility of Roboute Guilliman wasting more time and making a surprise return, while not zero, was exceedingly low. However, even so, Marcus did not plan to return to the Warhammer Universe anytime soon, at least not until the lictor located the Inquisitor.

"Let's finish dealing with the Resident Evil world first." Marcus stood up and stretched, preparing to head to the training room to practice his Psionics.

Suddenly, a message notification flashed on the screen before him. Connecting the communication, Isaac's face appeared. "What? Is the mission complete?" Marcus asked.

"Hmm, it's mostly done," Isaac replied, "but you'd better take a look at this." Isaac pointed the camera at an empty space. In that area, a colossal monster writhed, its core a turbid yellow eyeball, surrounded by massive clusters of thrashing tentacles.

"Osmund Saddler?" Marcus inquired, recognizing the familiar monstrosity.

"Yes, I destroyed most of the Las Plagas Parasite samples, and then this guy got furious and transformed into that," Isaac explained. "I managed to take down his first two forms, but this... thing... I really can't eliminate it quickly." Isaac spread his hands, dodging a tentacle attack, and ducked behind a nearby cover. The giant monster on the screen was none other than Osmund Saddler, the leader of the Cult of Light, now grotesquely mutated by the Dominant Las Plagas Parasite.

"Alright, you retreat first," Marcus instructed. "Don't worry about that area."

"What about this monster?" Isaac hesitated.

"It's fine, I'll handle it," Marcus reassured him. "You come back first. Oh, and remember to bring back a few of both the subordinate and dominant types of Las Plagas." Although the transformed Saddler, now a giant monster, possessed astonishing destructive power and vitality, he couldn't stop Isaac, who was determined to retreat. Soon, Isaac had moved away from the open space and boarded the Sanctuary spaceship that had arrived to pick him up.

Seeing that Isaac had safely withdrawn, Marcus left the Captain's Quarters and hailed the Blood Moon floating beside the Ishimura. Immediately after, an alloy pillar, specially made by Jacob and other engineers, was thrown towards the planet's surface by the Blood Moon. The alloy pillar plunged through the atmosphere, burning with dazzling light and heat, then accurately struck the village and castle where the Cult of Light was located. Compared to massive rock fragments, the explosion caused by the alloy pillar hitting the surface was smaller, but still sufficient.

In an instant, an explosion comparable to a tactical nuclear bomb erupted, with the mutated monster, Saddler, as its epicenter. Saddler, located at the very heart of the blast, was naturally annihilated instantly, leaving no trace. The entire village and the area where the castle was located were completely leveled by the violent explosion. This also completely buried the area where the Las Plagas Parasite was being mined underground beneath tens of thousands of tons of rubble.

On the Sanctuary, which had not yet flown far, Isaac couldn't help but complain as he watched the violent explosion below. "Is that necessary? Isn't this a bit too simple and crude?" Shaking his head, Isaac leaned against the cabin wall to rest. In these few short hours, he had single-handedly contended with the entire Cult of Light and killed at least several hundred villagers who had been parasitized by the Las Plagas Parasite. He was completely exhausted at this point. However, despite this, Isaac was very pleased, as he could clearly feel that after this intense battle, the intensity of his Psionics had significantly increased.

Soon, the Sanctuary had already passed through the atmosphere, but instead of flying towards the Ishimura in orbit, it flew to the other side of Earth. "Where are we going?" Isaac asked the pilot.

"Just received news that Miss Jill and Mr. Carlos have also completed their missions," the pilot replied, sending the information to Isaac. "We need to pick them up as well."

After a while, the Sanctuary spaceship hovered over the sea north of New Zealand. At this time, a medium-sized scientific research vessel was docked on the sea. Although this ship was called a scientific research vessel, it was actually one of the Umbrella Corporation's hidden bases, used to study the effects of various viruses on marine organisms. Jill, Carlos, and Tyrell were standing on the deck, and they soon boarded the spaceship.

"Was the operation smooth?" While the Sanctuary was returning to the Ishimura, Isaac asked the three of them.

"There weren't many armed personnel on this ship, so the mission was relatively easy, and we didn't encounter any monsters infected by viruses," Jill reported, holding a monstrous-looking fish, which contained the Abyss Virus.

"We also destroyed all of the Umbrella Corporation's research data on the Abyss Virus, so at least for a while, no one will discover the virus in the ocean trench," Carlos added from the side.

Looking at the RIG System on the three of them, which had already run out of energy, Isaac pointed to a charging facility inside the cabin. "You can recharge there. Go fill up your RIGs first." The three immediately complied.

Soon, the Sanctuary returned to the Ishimura's flight deck. The group disembarked from the spaceship and quickly met Marcus in the flight lounge. Without hesitation, they immediately handed over the virus samples and parasite samples to Marcus. Marcus also took the opportunity to inquire about the detailed development and specifics of their operation.

"Hmm, you three did well," Marcus praised, patting Jill, Carlos, and Tyrell on the shoulders one by one. "Since you've completed the mission, you deserve your reward. You can rest first, then come find me in the Captain's Quarters when you're done." Then he turned and left. As for Isaac, he had already disappeared, fearing that Marcus would assign him another task.

Returning to the Captain's Quarters, Marcus opened the system panel. At this point, all first-stage main missions had been completed.
