Chapter 6 - Chapter 5: Ace meets Ace

Dark and Shade stood up before everyone and the principal just kept quiet.

"What are your names?" The sapphire asked.

"Sh..sh..Shade sir" Shade meekly answered.

"Dark" his companion briskly answered.

"One is unkept and the other is quite well, I don't understand what influences youth acquaintance nowadays." The sapphire lamented.

"And you don't need to-- Abbot" Dark suddenly replied, not in the mood to be looked down on ever again. His reasoning startled by his answer but right now, he was under the influence of his past life's behavioral patterns, or maybe something more.

Abbot chuckled...

"You must be really stupid to address me in such a manner" He said quite friendly.

"Says the guy who is overwhelmed by his own assets and current height in power, more like scared" Dark went on to mock the already furious Student body president.

Finally aware of what he had done, the freshman made to leave in order to somewhat control the situation, but the sapphire had it all wrong.

Dark Silver came to a halt after feeling a sharp and quick pain, a knife had just zoomed past his face leaving to mercy on his left cheek.

Abbot was now in an obvious offense stature; his right hand was stretched forward with the other on his glasses.

"I'm not the kind your likes walk out on, I never miss at an escaping target." The sapphire warned.

"Sapphire...stop this at once, I need not another situation on my hands" The principal finally cautioned.

"Don't worry, I'll handle this quietly." The sapphire reassured.

"I advise you to stop this; the potential destruction is massive and the life of the students needs to be considered" Ruby, the Sapphire's Secretary and a fellow student, said.

Abbot pondered on this a little and gave up.

"Alright...I'm sorry everyone," he apologized quite readily.

"Come" he said and the knife was on its way back when Dark stretched out his hand and held it in place, everyone gasping in shock, knowing that no student had ever been able to do such, or never really dared to.

Abbot was now feeling a little threatened though he didn't show it.

"Come!" Abbot said again with more authority, and Dark's hand was slowly drawn towards Abbot then Dark let the knife go and it went with full speed towards Abbot who barely caught it.

Dark wiped the blood slipping out of his opened cheek with his thumb, he remembered the boxing glove and smiled. The anger of Abbot was now fully visible to everyone.

Dark put both his hands in his pockets and walked graciously out of the theatre as Shade ran after him.

"Dark!..hey!, Dark!" Shade shouted as he too left the theater.

"Dark... I look forward to humbling you" Abbot said and smiled.

20 MINUTES LATER...

Dark and Shade were in their room lying down on their beds, when Dark spoke up.

"Do you really think we're doomed?" he asked.

"Well no, at least we're in the same class so we'll be able to watch each other's back, but I doubt the Sapphire is going to let us off easy, the way you talked to him was cruel and demeaning. We ought to be on alert, his position and influence already gives him an advantage to do whatever he wants, we're so screwed." Shade confirmed feeling light and flustered.

"Yeah, at least we'll be popular among the other first years by now" Dark comforted with a smirk.

"I see...so that's what you're concerned about" Shade convulsed, he just couldn't believe his so-called roommate at the moment.

"I don't know what came over me though, it was- exhilarating. Was that the behavior of my past self? But if it was it wouldn't have felt that way, and the strength..I need to talk to Destiny as soon as I get the chance. I honestly can't afford making enemies yet" Dark thought back and forth, feeling very uncomfortable with his current predicament, all the while not giving a listening ear to a single word Shade uttered.

"Shade" Dark called out of the blue and was greeted with a grunt.

"What do I basically need to recognized as a normal reaper?" he inquired with a placid look.

"Well, not much since it's all about strength here. You just need a soul weapon and a Special skill, that's just about it." Shade relayed.

"Soul weapon, what are those?" Dark probed.

"A soul weapon is like a forever companion, soul weapons are made from our unique life energies and can be sought out whenever through the concentration of your energy. They also improve as we improve." Shade explained getting quite tired of explaining things.

"Looks like I'm already at a disadvantage" Dark sighed. He couldn't believe Destiny threw him into such a hole.

"I take it that special skills are supernatural ability unique to each reaper. Makes sense." Dark lamented already feeling like a lost cause.

"I wonder what Lion's skill was, he got me to the field so quick. Was it teleportation or time manipulation?" Dark ran the scenario through his brain once again but just couldn't conclude.

"From what I gathered it takes about eight impossible steps to become the Sapphire, I still have a stalker and possible hit man on my ass but I just want a fresh start." he thought further.

"I still can't believe you acted out in that manner before the whole School board. Don't tell me you're one of those guys who mask their true strengths just to shock everyone later on. I'm no friends with such people." Shade said with a clear story in his voice.

"I should be the one saying that. You're not weak are you?" Dark countered his voice also deepened.

The room went silent, both scanning their environment for possibly the same or rather different reasons.

Shade finally smiled, "No one at this school I weak, they all come from respectable families across the reaper verse. This is the number two school in the reaper verse with its rival being the Royal Knights Prestige"

"I noticed nine students look at you differently from the others, like they were looking at a train wreck but couldn't say a thing, it's either you have history with them or they are just the only ones who couldn't keep a straight face like the rest.

Who are you?" Dark coerced, a pointed pen already in hand.

"I thought I could start afresh when I heard you were coming in from the world of the living, maybe I could have a true friend who didn't know my past mistakes." Shade cried sarcastically without a sign of sadness.

"Won't pry into your past if you stay out of mine" Dark said and Shades expression relapsed.

"I like you, seems we'll be good friends afterall" Shade commented then they both smirked.

"Seems that's a huge deal given both our personalities." Shade could actually mock their situation with a clean smile.

"I have a goal I can't tell you about, will you help me achieve it?" Dark asked quite fondly.

"At your service president" Shade didn't realize the moment he said it, but he wasn't ready to take it back even though knowing the meaning of that word in the reaper verse.

"I'm glad you feel that way, I promise to never let you down" Dark assured with a gritty look.

"Alright, let's promise to always remain friends and never betray one another." Shade uttered, extending his arm upwards, hitting Dark's under bed furniture as a result.

Dark smiled once more, he really felt there could be something pure between two people who would later find out they are very much different but alike at the same time.

"That reminds me, what's your special skill and soul weapon?" Dark quizzed but didn't get a reply.

He got a little annoyed, so he bent over his bed only to see Shade fast asleep, snoring and everything.

Then he retired back to his bed and sighed.

"I guess he'll open up on his own terms" Dark reasoned, he snuggled his pillow and ushered himself to sleep.
