Chapter 3 - CHAPTER THREE

Ava's POV

"Dad how can you be so cruel?" I asked him, and he slammed the table using his hand. My mom flinched, but I didn't care, I just wanted to be out of this place.

"You pushed me to this. Can't you see honey? That boy is going to take advantage of you and hurt you. I'm telling you that he doesn't have any good intentions. He only seems this way now because he's poor." My dad said, and I shook my head in denial.

"Dad I'm telling you he isn't like that. He's really a good man, you have to trust me. Just give him a chance, please, do it for me, Dad." I pleaded, and my dad stood up.

"No…. I refuse to listen to your nonsense. I'm out of this place. Let me know when you come back to your senses." Dad said and sat back down and continued eating his food.

"Fine! Since you have made up your mind. I'm just going to do what I want as well." My eyes flickered with anger as I spoke.

"Since my father does not care about my happiness. I would rather be with the man who cares about me. Daniel and I are going to live a good life, and I will prove you and mom wrong. You will be sorry you did this to me, Dad." I retorted and stormed to my room.

"Ava…" my mom called and stood up to follow after me, but I didn't answer to her.

"Let her go! I'm sure she will come back to her senses and realise are doing this for her good." I heard dad's voice faintly as I stormed across the hallway.

I slammed the door shut and grabbed my phone. I made a call through to Daniel, who connected to the call almost immediately.

"Hey Daniel, I'm going to send you a hotel address. One of my friends works there, he will have a room given to you. I will meet you up there, we will talk more when I arrive there." I said to him and ended the call.

I sent him the address and then spoke to one of the staff there to give Daniel access to my suite. I still have one year of access to that suite as it has already been paid for by dad.

I got dressed and made way out of the house. I clenched my fist in anger as I looked at my house for the last time.

I hailed a taxi and made way to the hotel. I didn't bring anything with me. Not even my credit card, apart from the cash I have in my purse.

The door to my hotel room creaked open, and Daniel was there seated on the bed, looking like a total mess.

"Are you okay?" I threw my arms around him and pulled him into my arms.

"I really don't know what to do. How am I supposed to start my business now or even build my portfolio? Or even survive without a job?" Daniel wailed.

I took his face in my hands and kissed him.

"You don't have to worry about anything. We are going to get through this. I believe in you. Besides, I still have my job at the restaurant. And you will be getting into the business world soon." I said, and Daniel frowned.

"How can you be so sure of that?" Daniel asked me.

"Well didn't you say so yourself? You are talented, and you will be called for collaborations, I'm sure of it. Now let's order food and leave the rest till tomorrow." I said to him and stood up.

"How were you able to afford this kind of suite? You really should not be spending money like this." He said to me, and I giggled.

"It's okay, Daniel, a friend of mine works here. We do each other favours. This is her repaying one of the many favours I have done for her." I lied, and he nodded his head.

Fortunately for me, this is the last lie I will have to tell him. I will no longer live as Ava Sterling, heir of the Sterling groups. But as my own person who is ready to do life with the man she loves.

Later that evening, I made way to the hotel garden while Daniel slept so I could make some calls. I told him I won't be going to work today as I would love to stay with him.

I made a call to Jenna, my friend whose family is the owner of this hotel. We attended the same college here, before I went abroad for my masters.

"Hello Ava… It's such a miracle that I'm hearing from you today. This is new." Jenna said.

"I'm sorry for not calling all these while. I just needed a favour from you. I will be staying over at the hotel for a few days. Make it impossible for my father to know where I am." I requested.

"I don't know why, but okay. I will have the records erased from the database." She said. I said my thanks and ended the call.

I made another call to Fred, a friend of mine who is an investor and owns a couple of companies.

"Hello Fred…" I greeted.

"Isn't it the multi talented and beautiful Ava Sterling. Heiress to the Sterling groups. I've really missed, and I don't see you at events. You are too private for your status." He giggled as he spoke, making me laugh.

"You know I love my space. But I'm calling you because I need a favour from you." I said.

"You know I will do anything for you." He replied.

"That is why I called. I need you to invest in a start-up company. I want the company to start in less than a week with everything intact." I explained.

"Why can't you do that? You have so much money than me." He said.

"Cause I don't want the person finding out." I answered.

"Hmmm…. Ava darling, I will only take such risk if the company belongs to you." He said, putting a clause to my request.

"Fine, the company will be mine. But he must know that. Deal?" I asked.

"Deal!" He agreed.
