Chapter 38 - Dangerous plan and end of day

It was this one artifact that made this plan of Dumbledores so dangerous not for Voldemort but the students of the school. Few if any will have the sort of will or mindset to break free from the draw of the mirror and curiosity was both a terrible and beautiful thing. Should any of them manage to get through the rest of the traps as Harry and his friends did in the books they'd likely be mentally broken messes by the time anyone found them in front of that mirror.-

To be fair however the mirror wasn't yet in the final chamber of that series of traps but in an abandoned classroom somewhere not quite specified in the books or movies. The theories from before I died were that it was there so Dumbledore could modify the enchantment to actually house the Philosophers stone but make it impossible to retrieve unless you had no desire to use it. Despite the value of the stone however I myself didn't want it or rather I didn't want to make a play for it. The protections around the stone from the books mean there is a VERY small window that I might be able to grab it in but even then I doubted it was possible.-

The reason for this doubt was simple, the books tell of the story from Harry's point of view for the majority of the time and thus the hidden things you never knew about were countless. I highly doubted that Dumbledore being the clever old coot he is would not leave some sort of warning system in place if anyone made a pass at the stone and return immediately. Additionally the sheer fact the stone could be shattered by Harry was suspicious enough to make me wary. -

Others may not know but I did since I had searched out the treasure in the system shop, the stone was stronger than diamond. You expect me to believe an eleven year old could just smash such a thing into pieces? Barehanded? Ridiculous! More likely than not the stone was a fake and not even worth going after. Anyways Dumbledore went on to leading everyone on through the Hogwarts school song and I can say for certain I did NOT sing along because Jesus Christ was it terrible.-

Hogwarts, Hogwarts, Hoggy Warty Hogwarts,

Teach us something please,

Whether we be old and bald,

Or young with scabby knees,

Our heads could do with filling,

With some interesting stuff,

For now they're bare and full of air,

Dead flies and bits of fluff,

So teach us things worth knowing,

Bring back what we've forgot,

Just do your best, we'll do the rest,

And learn until our brains all rot.

The fact everyone actually singing did so at their own speed and tone did NOT make it better but oh so much worse. Dumbledore ended the song when the final voices, the twins, quieted and clapped with a sigh.

"Ah, music. A magic beyond all we do here! And now bedtime. Off you trot!" he said before dismissing us with a wave of his hand.

"Ravenclaw first years with me!" an older male student of African descent with a metal badge of his chest spoke up firmly as the rest of the older students went ahead by themselves.

"Our common room is at the top of Ravenclaw tower behind a specially enchanted knocker. In order to enter you have to solve the riddle it asks you. Once you do the door opens. Now follow me so I can show you the way, be sure to remember it or if you forget ask the portraits for directions as they are usually more than happy to guide students in need." the Prefect said calmly as he walked.

The halls of the castle were all made of the same dull colored stone with elegant archways and many torches and hanging lights to brighten the way. On the walls were a vast amount of portraits that amazingly moved and could even seemingly think and respond. We passed many closed doors as well that the prefect told us were storage rooms or even empty classrooms with no purpose.-

There were also medieval armors standing at attention with weapons that if you paid close enough attention to you'd notice shift slightly or even turn their head pieces to watch you back. Soon enough though we arrived at the famous moving staircase of Hogwarts. The staircase was in truth a series of staircases that moved seemingly at random to allow access to different floors and hallways in the castle. It was located in a very large vertical area that was no doubt the massive cylindrical tower visible from outside the castle in it's center.-

The prefect casually walked up one of the staircases after it moved into place and all eight of us followed nervously.

"Not to worry, the staircases might seem like they move randomly but you'll find they have a pattern once you get used to it." The prefect said reassuringly as the staircase we were on moved.

The staircase soon connected to another that we got on before that staircase stopped in front of a specific hallway that I noticed had a bronze eagle head at the top of the archway for. A small detail but one that would prove invaluable for learning my way around, landmarks were important for a reason.-

The hallway had many windows that let the moonlight shine through as we walked it's length. At the end of the hallway there was a split path with three options. The prefect went to the left which after walking through yet another hallway though shorter and narrower we reached a winding staircase.

"This is Ravenclaw tower which has our common room at the top." the Prefect explained as he walked up the stairs.

The entrance to the common room was not even CLOSE to being secretive at all. The entire top of the tower had bronze eagle statues lining it's blue and white star patterned walls with a massive eagles head statue sitting on a large wooden door in plain view.

"If you feed me I thrive but give me water and I die. What am I?" the eagle head on the door asked firmly.

"Anyone of you want to give it a try?" the prefect asked with a smile.

"The answers either a Venus fly trap or fire." I said casually and kinda bored since this riddle was easy.

"Well reasoned, welcome!" the eagle head said before the door swung open.
