For a split second my vision was a flickering of black and white.Fuck he got me good.He attempted to pull my rifle off its sling but I held onto it with one hand while placing the other on the trigger of my shotgun. With my blurry vision I approximated the location of his head and fired off a shot. The white hallway was now splattered with red. I snatched the keycard of the highway junction officers' corpse, one more door and I've would have control of the entire station. Raphael positioned the crew at the hanger bay ready to plunder all incoming ships including a shipment of dark-matter discs. If we successfully delivered them to our contact in Empress Kassandra's special forces we were set for life. Thinking about it, we would be wanted fugitives of the Persus republic ,perhaps, we should have negotiated for passports too. Nevertheless with our payday we would be able to find safe haven in any corner of the galaxy. But killing half a dozen Persus republic soldiers? Would we even be able to make it past the next junction? Could our contact use our 'sensitive' situation and execute us on the spot?
I just realised I had let my thoughts get the better of me and was standing at the door for the better part of a minute. The only possible way for me to walk out of my predicament alive is to secure those discs.
Despite the ability to travel through Edobo Highways at faster than light speeds, wireless communication have yet to reach such speeds hence communications have to be transferred through physical means.
This means for my specific case all vehicles that have left the previous junction have yet to have received informational about our hijaking.
I used my laser spread shotgun to burst open the door of the control room and switched to my analogue ammunition based sub-auto rifle to clear out the room. Traditional bullets still reigned supreme despite the invention of laser weapons.
In a brazen act of my own pride I used the station's intercom to announce to my colleagues that had secured the station, and even better, the next vessel was our very own
shipment of dark matter discs. I walked back to hanger after confirming that there were no more Persus soldiers left on the station.
A machine gun went off and I could hear the distinct yelling of two different men. There were no more soldiers left but the sound of that weapon was certainly that of Raphael's.I creeped towards the opening of the hanger and took a look, he had eliminated the mercenaries that we hired.
Could I be next?
Thanks for doubling my pay you phycotic fuck! I yelled at Raphael
I left my rifle and shotgun at the opening of the hanger bay but carried the officers' pistol and placed it in one of my pockets, hiding it as much as possible.
Upon hearing the whirling of the cyclinder of his gun I shot him.
Damn gun was set to stun mode, but that will do for now. I placed our weapons to side, tied him up and waited for him to regain consciousness.
