The taxi ride was silent, punctuated only by the hum of the engine and the occasional passing car. Zephyr and Lee Zhang sat stiffly on opposite sides of the backseat, their gazes fixed on the passing scenery. The unspoken question hung heavy in the air between them – who were they, and how could they be so strikingly alike?
The driver, a middleaged man with a weathered face and kind eyes, glanced at them in the rearview mirror. He sensed the tension radiating from the two boys and decided to break the silence.
"So, where are you two headed?" he asked with a friendly smile.
Lee Zhang shot him a cold glare before turning away. Zephyr, however, offered a polite nod.
"We're going to the hospital," Zephyr replied.
"For a DNA test."
The driver's eyebrows shot up in surprise.
At the hospital
"I got this," Lee Zhang said and walked up and looked at nurse.
"Here a DNA test for me and him," Lee Zhang said.
"You need your parents," a nurse said. Lee Zhang sneered Zephyr stopped him.
"Watch and learn this! Without any adult I will be able to get a DNA test," Zephyr said.
"Impossible," Lee Zhang said.
"Nurse my mother is so sick and I just found out I have missing brother we look like and we'll waaaa my mother last wish is to see my brother what to do I do?" Zephyr said all the nurses found Zephyr so adorable.
"Don't worry we will do it!" A nurse said. Lee Zhang dropped his mouth.
The nurse, completely swayed by Zephyr's performance, bustled off to gather the necessary supplies. Lee Zhang's jaw hung open, a mixture of disbelief and frustration etched across his face. He hadn't anticipated such a blatant display of manipulation, especially from someone who looked exactly like him.
"You… you tricked them!" he hissed, his voice low and furious.
Zephyr simply shrugged, a smug grin playing on his lips.
"All's fair in love and DNA tests," he retorted playfully.
As the nurse prepared the samples, Zephyr couldn't resist adding another layer of theatricality to the situation. He leaned towards Lee Zhang, lowering his voice conspiratorially.
"You know," he whispered.
"If we are related… imagine the chaos it would cause."
Lee Zhang's expression darkened further. But he also wanted to meet his biological mother.
Six hours later the DNA test came out.
The results were displayed on a large screen in the sterile examination room, the stark white walls amplifying the tension that filled the air. The nurse cleared her throat nervously, adjusting her glasses as she prepared to deliver the verdict.
"According to the DNA analysis," she began, her voice trembling slightly.
"The probability of a genetic relationship between these two individuals is… 99.99%."
A collective gasp echoed through the room. Zephyr and Lee Zhang stared at the screen in stunned silence, their identical faces reflecting a shared sense of disbelief. Kenji and Hiroki, who had been anxiously hovering nearby, exchanged bewildered glances.
"That's... impossible," Lee Zhang muttered, his voice barely audible.
"There must be some mistake."
Zephyr, however, seemed strangely calm amidst the chaos.
"We are twins no triplets since I have a sister."
"What now?"
"Well first let's not tell anyone after all knowing my mother the moment she finds about you, you would snatch you and we will go back to Paris or even America and who the hell knows," Zephyr said.
"Yes I know what you mean I am the only great grandson of my great grandparents my father is a man who crushed his enemies like no others, if he finds out he has two kids out there he take us away and would not allow our mama to see us."
"Such a big demon?" Zephyr said.
"My dad is not a demon tsk tsk so how about this I want to meet my mother for the first time I would in as Zephyr and you go to my father place as me."
The twin brothers looked at each other both high five each other after making a plan for next week.
The hospital room felt smaller, the air thicker with unspoken implications. The sheer improbability of their genetic connection hung over them like a heavy shroud. The nurse, clearly flustered by the unexpected revelation, retreated to her desk, leaving Zephyr and Lee Zhang to grapple with the monumental truth.
Kenji and Hiroki, initially frozen in shock, began to chatter amongst themselves, their voices a low hum of speculation and disbelief. The implications were staggering – two identical boys, raised in completely different worlds, unknowingly sharing the same DNA.
Lee Zhang's initial denial quickly dissolved into a quiet acceptance of the undeniable facts. He understood the power his father wielded, the ruthless efficiency with which he controlled his empire. The thought of revealing their existence to him was terrifying.
Zephyr's suggestion to keep their connection a secret resonated with Lee Zhang's own cautious nature.
Back in the dorm room Lee Zhang kicked the bottom bunk.
"Hiroki right move it, Zephyr and I are brothers I want to be close to him bunk bed with Kenji," Lee Zhang said.
"You are so arrogant and rude, want to see a photo my mama and our sister?" Zephyr bragged.
Lee Zhang heart became excited his biological mother Shayera he wanted to see it!
Zephyr, sensing Lee Zhang's burgeoning excitement, subtly steered the conversation towards their mothers. He pulled out his LX phone, navigating effortlessly through its sleek interface until he found the photo he was looking for. The screen illuminated, displaying a picture of Shayera Lafayette – a striking woman with intelligent eyes and a warm, inviting smile. Beside her stood Aella, radiating youthful energy and charm.
Lee Zhang stared at the image, mesmerized. The woman in the photo possessed an undeniable elegance and grace, a quiet strength that resonated deep within him. He felt a strange pull towards her, a sense of familiarity he couldn't quite explain.
"She's… beautiful," Lee Zhang murmured, his voice softer than Zephyr had ever heard it.
Zephyr smirked slightly, enjoying the effect his photo was having on his newfound brother.
"She is, humph she is my mama!" Zephyr said in a possessive manner. Lee Zhang became possessive also.
"No way she is also my mama!"
