Chapter 13 - chapter13

"Get to the hospital in fifteen minutes. The left side of the forehead was hit by a wine bottle. Make arrangements in advance."

The tone was as cold as ever.

"Young Master Mu, you're injured? How do you feel? Any dizziness?" The other party instantly sounded worried.

"It's not me."

"Understood, Young Master Mu. I'll get everything ready right away." Dean Zhang knew Mu very well and dared not ask another question.

Mu Yuan drove straight to the VIP entrance. Dean Zhang was already there with a group of doctors and nurses waiting.

Mu Yuting carried Xiao Nuan out of the car and set her gently on the stretcher, when he suddenly noticed she was clutching a piece of paper tightly in her hand.

It was an "IOU" Lin Xiaonuan had written in the hotel lobby earlier, which she hadn't yet had the chance to give to him.

The ambulance went directly to the top floor of the hospital.

The place was spacious, bright, and extremely quiet. Ordinary patients weren't allowed up here. Those who came to this hospital were already wealthy, and those who made it to this floor were among the city's most elite.

Inside the examination room, the doctors and nurses worked in perfect order, leaving nothing unchecked. Since this girl was brought in by Young Master Mu, they didn't dare be careless.

Outside, Mu Yuting held that IOU, lost in thought. Back at the hotel, when Lin Xiaonuan had been writing it, if he hadn't been so caught up admiring her elegant handwriting, he might not have let that bastard get the jump on him. Reading through the words now, his perpetually furrowed brows almost relaxed into a laugh.

"Today, I, Lin Xiaonuan, owe a nouveau riche one favor, plus cash for 1,238 yuan. This is written as proof, and I absolutely will not renege.

If I fail to repay, the other party may dispose of me however they see fit."

She had even signed her name and written the date, making it look quite official—just missing a handprint.

At that moment, Dean Zhang came over with a stack of examination reports, smiling warmly. Mu Yuting quickly tucked the paper into his pocket, his faint smile vanishing as his expression returned to its usual coolness.

"Young Master Mu, sorry to keep you waiting. According to the results, there's no major internal cranial injury. The bottle hit with great force, but this young lady's skull is quite strong—no fracture, no intracranial bleeding.

If her skull had been any more fragile, the consequences would have been unimaginable. We've already fully treated the wound, and you can rest assured it will leave no scar." Dean Zhang's explanation was both careful and thorough.

Hearing this, Mu Yuting let out a quiet sigh of relief. "Has she woken up?"

"Not yet. We've moved her to a ward. It's best to keep her under observation for a possible concussion."

"Got it."

Dean Zhang led him to the VIP ward and then tactfully withdrew.

Mu Yuting stood at the bedside, gazing quietly at the girl. The nurse had already changed her into a pink hospital gown, and her face was clean and fresh. Her delicate features had a tranquil beauty that made one want to linger.

She had lost quite a bit of blood, so her lips were pale, and her head was wrapped in a layer of bandages—but none of that diminished her ethereal charm.

From last night until now, thinking back to how they always bickered whenever they met, Mu Yuting found the corner of his lips curling almost imperceptibly.

"Good thing it didn't hurt your brain—otherwise, how would you argue with me in the future?"

Just as he was lost in thought, his phone rang—it was his grandmother calling. Oh no. He had promised to visit her today, but in all the chaos, he had completely forgotten.

Mu Yuting respected and loved his grandmother deeply; he couldn't bear to disappoint her. He quickly stepped out of the ward to answer.

"Grandma, I'm sorry. I can't visit you today—I've got something to take care of outside."

Old Madam Mu doted on this grandson of hers and didn't scold him in the least.

"Silly boy, what's there to be sorry about? Young people have lots of social engagements. I just worry that once you get busy, you forget to eat. That's bad for your stomach in the long run."

"I know, Grandma. I'll cut down on drinking at business dinners, get out of work on time, and eat on schedule."

To put her at ease, Mu Yuting said whatever would make her happy—his mouth coated not just in honey, but in royal jelly.

"You only know how to sweet-talk me. You're a grown man—you don't know how to take care of yourself. Hurry up and get a girlfriend, get married, then I'll be at ease…

Oh, by the way, the Wang family's second daughter just came back from studying abroad last week. You two used to play together when you were little—do you remember her…?"

Mu Yuting sighed helplessly. Every time he talked to his grandmother, without fail, she would end up trying to arrange a blind date.
