"I'm ready... how about you?" asked Vern-san as she saw me slightly sweating.
Of course I was sweating because I had no idea what to do right now.
"Of course," I said while giving a thumbs up.
AKHKHKH, why couldn't I just be honest?!
Vern-san peeked slightly at the bar door, checking the situation inside once more.
She took a slow breath, then stared sharply into the bar.
"Huh... alright!" Vern-san was truly ready.
CRASH — Vern-san kicked the bar door open very hard, drawing everyone's attention inside toward her.
This was the best way to grab attention.
I followed her and stood behind Vern-san, waiting to see what she would do next.
She lifted her skirt a little, then took a small knife from between her garter belt and stocking.
From a distance, I saw some guys looking lustful at what Vern-san had just done.
I can't deny my thoughts either... she and I are both guys, so it's natural to be tempted by something like that.
Vern-san pointed the small knife at all of them, with a sharp and cold gaze.
At this moment, she looked more like a fighter than a maid... well, just look at her appearance right now.
Standing in front of many men, holding a knife up to them and staring at them sharply.
It's rare for a woman to be able to do this; Vern-san must really want to protect Rosa-chan.
Usually there are some masochistic guys who want to be punished by characters like Vern-san.
For some reason, Vern-san seemed a bit like a sadistic maid character.
"I won't say this twice, where are you hiding your princess?" Vern-san said as she looked at them all.
They all fell silent; some looked sweaty and confused by what was happening.
And some had already prepared their weapons, just in case.
Suddenly, a man stood up; he had been sitting at a table near the cashier.
His black hair reached his neck, and he wore oversized shirt and pants.
He looked like someone who preferred to stay at home, but somehow there was something about him.
"What is a pretty lady doing here?" the guy said to Vern-san.
This bar only had one floor, so it was small and very crowded.
Hearing the man's words, Vern-san immediately pointed her knife at him.
Intending to threaten him, in case he was behind this case.
The man instead raised both hands, as if surrendering. But he gave a small smile.
"Don't be so harsh~ Hmm... you're looking for your princess, right~?" the man said.
There was no doubt—the man seemed to be provoking Vern-san.
I hoped that Vern-san could still hold her emotions; if she lost control, our plan might be ruined.
"Don't waste my time, lowly man," Vern-san said in a cold voice, disgusted by the man's behavior.
"Ooh, scary~" the man replied.
Vern-san moved the knife she held closer to the man's neck. Maybe it was only a few centimeters away.
If I were in that position, I might have surrendered immediately.
But not this man; he smiled at what Vern-san was doing.
Vern-san looked confused—why could the man in front of her still smile, even though his life might be at stake.
"Why are you smiling?" Vern-san asked suspiciously.
"Come to think of it, one of my underlings brought home a girl with long yellow hair earlier."
"Could it be... the princess you're looking for~?" the man said.
That statement made Vern-san emotional, and she couldn't hold it in any longer.
She pulled her knife and tried to stab the man's neck with it.
I couldn't even see the movement of Vern-san's knife.
But what I didn't expect was that, when the knife was about to hit his neck, the man stopped the knife with his two fingers.
Like he was holding a cigarette, he looked very calm and unthreatened.
Vern-san was stunned and immediately stepped back seeing the movement that had been stopped.
Because of the very strong grip, her knife remained in the man's hand.
"What kind of knife is this~? Not sharp at all... and the user seems like a trainee fighter," the man said with a smile.
Then, the whole bar laughed at the mockery the man made.
They laughed uproariously, as if they had just heard a joke that made their stomachs hurt.
Their laughter made my body tremble for some reason.
But that didn't change Vern-san's gaze; she kept staring at them sharply.
Then, one of the people sitting behind that man threw out his words.
"This place isn't for wind girls like you~"
"Hahahahaha," laughter rang out again.
Not only that person, others joined in mocking my and Vern-san's presence here.
"That man behind you, you just made him your slave, right~? He looks so scared~"
"Hahahaha"
Vern-san looked at me, but not with a sharp, cold stare—more like her usual look.
From that look, I could tell she was telling me not to be affected by what they were saying.
"Instead of being the master of that kid, better play with us~ How about it?"
"If you want, I'll give you 1,000 gold coins per night, just for you~"
"I'll give you comforts you can't get anywhere else!"
"You and the princess will be turned into our slaves!"
"I guarantee you both will drown in pleasure with all of us!"
"So surrender, instead of dying, better play with us!"
"You're strong, even if you have to serve several people at once!"
"Hahahahaha"
All those insults were certainly directed at Vern-san. They tried to corner her.
After Vern-san failed to stab his neck, of course she would be insulted.
But in my opinion... these people's insults were filthy and cruel. They looked like a bunch of despicable, low-class people.
I could even say they were the lowest people I had ever met.
I was sure all they thought about was making Vern-san their new toy.
Moreover, Vern-san was a maid, and a maid's duty is to follow her master's orders. I had been in this situation before, hadn't I?
Besides, they surely wanted to break Vern-san's mind and spirit. Especially since they said they'd do it to her and Rosa-chan.
Honestly, I couldn't take it anymore. I felt like standing in front of them all and punching their faces with all my strength.
They had filthy intentions they wanted to unleash on Vern-san and Rosa-chan; I could not forgive it.
I looked at Vern-san; she clenched both her fists.
She even bit her lip, causing blood to flow from beneath her mouth.
I was sure she was angrier than I was, but she kept holding it in. Because she wanted to stay focused on saving Rosa-chan.
