Chapter 4 - Disaster

(Scene – Still in the Lounge, a Few Minutes Later)

Kim Bum was still grinning down at his phone, now watching the edit Eman had sent him.

It was beautifully done — dramatic cuts, emotional dialogue, and that soft song "Until I Found You" playing under a compilation of his scenes as Lee Rang.

He chuckled softly.

"So she really is my fan…" he murmured.

He glanced sideways at Y/N again. Her cheeks were slightly pink, ears still red, but she was trying to act like she was focused on her laptop.

Trying.

Eman, of course, was loving every second.

Y/N finally muttered under her breath, "I'm going to disown you, Eman."

"Too late," Eman replied sweetly, then added in English just to be extra annoying: "Bestie's honor code: I never betray… except when it's funny."

Kim Bum let out a laugh — head falling back a little. His whole body shook as he grinned and clutched his chest.

"Ahhh, this is too good…"

Y/N gave him a glare that could've melted steel. "Don't. Say. Anything."

He smiled innocently. "I said nothing. Just admiring the creative choices."

Her eyes narrowed dangerously. "I swear to God, Kim Bum—"

Ring ring!

Her phone lit up with a familiar name: Appa.

She blinked, composed herself, and quickly stood up to take the call. "Ji Appa… ji… okay. I'll take him."

She sighed as she hung up and began tying her hair back into a neat ponytail.

Then she pulled on her abaya with practiced ease. Her annoyed expression hadn't left yet — and it was now turned fully back toward Kim Bum.

She pointed at him.

"You — get up. Mr. Actor. I'm under orders to show you around. Congratulations, you're officially on a walking tour now."

He raised his eyebrows, still chuckling. "Yes, ma'am."

As he stood up, stretching slightly, Y/N looked over at Eman, who was already curled up again with her drama.

"You coming with us?" Y/N asked, one brow raised.

Eman blinked at her, then casually held up her phone. "Sorry. I have… obligations."

Y/N narrowed her eyes. "Obligations?"

Eman nodded solemnly. "This chaebol just lost his memory and is now falling in love again. I have no choice."

Kim Bum giggled. He literally giggled.

Y/N folded her arms. "You traitor."

Eman waved them off without guilt. "Enjoy your date — I mean, tour. Byeee~"

Y/N grabbed the keys and muttered, "I'm changing the Wi-Fi password."

Kim Bum was still laughing as they stepped outside.

The sun was now higher, casting soft golden rays across the quiet street.

He walked beside her, hands in his borrowed pockets, still smiling.

"So…" he teased, "Ten thousand likes, huh?"

"Shut. Up."

He chuckled again, more gently this time.

"You really made edits of me?"

She side-eyed him, lips pressed together. "You're not that special. I made edits of Seo In-guk too."

He gasped dramatically. "Wow. Heartbreaking."

She finally smiled — small but real.

"Relax," she mumbled. "You were the favorite."

He looked at her with soft eyes. "Still am?"

He laughed again. And as they walked down the street, something about this whole moment — the banter, the sunshine, the stolen reel, the soft family chaos — made his heart feel a little more full.

Just one day here… and it already felt like something warm.

Something he wasn't ready to let go of anytime soon.

(Scene – Outside, moments later)

Y/N pulled a black mask from her bag and handed it to Kim Bum, along with a baseball cap.

"Put these on. I don't need some random uncle fainting because Lee Rang showed up on their street."

He chuckled, slipping them on. "As you wish, bodyguard-nim."

As they walked, he nudged her lightly. "So… how many edits? Be honest."

She rolled her eyes. "I'm going to pretend I didn't hear that."

Just then, her phone buzzed again.

She frowned. "Hmm… weird."

Kim Bum looked over. "Something wrong?"

Y/N narrowed her eyes slightly. "Just a friend. Haven't heard from her in months… suddenly she wants to meet."

He raised an eyebrow. "Suspicious?"

She nodded slowly. "A bit. But maybe it's just a coincidence. Come on, Mr. Actor. She says she's nearby. We'll meet her, then I'll continue your precious walking tour."

They walked through a quieter part of the neighborhood now — fewer people, quiet roads, the occasional bark of a dog in the distance.

Y/N's steps slowed. "This area's a little too calm… feels off."

Kim Bum's voice lowered, serious now. "Do you want to turn back?"

Before she could answer, a voice called from the side.

"Y/N!"

Y/N turned. "Sana?"

Her friend came forward, smiling a little too brightly. "So good to see you…"

Y/N folded her arms. "You said you needed to talk. What's going on?"

Sana hesitated, glanced over her shoulder… then called out.

"You can come now."

From behind a tree, a guy stepped out.

He looked early twenties, dressed neatly, a smirk tugging at his lips.

Y/N's brows furrowed. "Who…?"

The guy stepped closer.

"I'm Ali. Sana told me about you."

He paused, then smiled.

"I like you, Y/N."

Her face blanked. "I don't. I'm sorry."

He blinked, surprised… but stepped forward anyway.

"Wait — don't just reject me like that. You didn't even think about it."

Y/N's voice sharpened. "Stay away."

"I'm not used to being rejected," he said, now frowning. "You think I'll let you go that easily?"

Kim Bum stepped closer — right beside her now.

Y/N instinctively moved behind him.

Even though she had only truly met him yesterday…

Even though he didn't know the real her yet…

She felt safe behind him.

Protected.

Kim Bum's voice came quiet, amused.

"Hiding behind me already, Little Fox?"

She blinked, whispered, "Who's Little Fox?"

He turned his head slightly and smiled under the mask.

"You."

Before she could respond, he looked forward — gaze locked on the guy in front of them.

Then, he took a calm step forward and said, voice low, dangerous:

> "If I see your face anywhere near her again, I won't bother talking next time."

His words were soft.

But they hit like a threat carved in steel.

The guy froze.

His hands clenched.

The cocky smirk slipped off his face completely.

He stammered, "W–who even are you—?"

Kim Bum tilted his head, and though half his face was hidden, the sharpness in his eyes was enough to make the boy take a step back.

> "You won't want to find out."

The guy's throat bobbed as he gulped.

He was clearly clueless that the man standing in front of him was the Kim Bum — but his instincts screamed danger.

Sana awkwardly tried to grab his arm. "Let's go…"

Ali didn't argue.

Kim Bum didn't look back at them. Instead, he turned and gently took Y/N's hand.

"Let's go, Little Fox."

She blinked, letting him pull her forward down the road.

Her heart thudded in her chest — not from fear.

But from the way he held her hand like it was already his to protect.

She glanced up at him, still silent.

And even though the cap and mask hid his face…

She could still see that small smile playing at his lips.

---

As they walked in silence for a few seconds, Y/N suddenly spoke up, still a little flustered from earlier.

"Mr. Actor…" she began, narrowing her eyes.

He glanced at her sideways. "Hmm?"

"When exactly did you come up with that nickname?" she asked, pretending to glare but unable to hide the curious smile forming.

He raised an eyebrow, voice cool. "Just some minutes ago. Why?"

She scoffed. "Of course you did."

Then she added with mock suspicion, "I don't know… you're acting like you're leading the way now, Mr. Actor. Go ahead then."

He grinned beneath the mask and took a proud step forward, walking ahead confidently.

Until…

He slowed.

Paused.

Then stopped.

And turned slightly.

"…Where are we going again?"

Y/N raised both eyebrows, arms crossing in amusement. "Exactly what I thought."

Kim Bum gave a sheepish laugh, rubbing the back of his neck even though she couldn't see his full expression.

"See?" she said, stepping beside him with a playful grin. "Now let me lead the way, Mr. Actor."

He obediently fell into step next to her, voice soft. "Yes, ma'am."

They walked further, the earlier tension slowly melting into quiet comfort. The street opened up, revealing a small but peaceful space — ground.

It was calm.

Wide green grass fields stretched out in all directions, a few joggers in the distance, the soft rustle of trees swaying under the early morning breeze.

No camera clicks.

No suspicious strangers.

Just the two of them and the peace of an open morning.

Y/N sighed contentedly, lifting her arms to stretch slightly. "This… this is what I needed."

Kim Bum looked around, then quietly agreed, "Yeah… it's beautiful."

His voice was quieter now, like he didn't want to disturb the calm.

She smiled and nudged his arm. "You're allowed to take off the mask now. We're safe here."

He hesitated, then slowly pulled the mask down and removed the cap, ruffling his hair once before letting it fall back into place.

Y/N blinked.

She didn't say anything… but seeing his relaxed expression under the morning light made something in her heart shift.

She looked away quickly. "Okay, let's walk. Before you say something cheesy and ruin the moment."

He chuckled, his voice low. "Too late, Little Fox."
