Chapter 18 - Chapter 18 The Neighbor's Suspicion

Dai Wangnian arrived not long after. It was too hot and his bald head was covered in sweat. When he wiped it with a tissue, there were a lot of paper scraps.

Dai Hengxin opened the door for him, took a clean wet tissue and asked him to go to the bathroom to wash his face.

When Dai Wangnian came out of the bathroom, he was no longer in a mess and his breath was stable.

Seeing Xiao Yingchun and the gold ingots in front of him, Dai Wangnian smiled: "Little girl, you are amazing!"

Xiao Yingchun smiled but said nothing. Dai

Wangnian didn't look at it for long this time, he put down the magnifying glass and the gold ingots, nodded and said: "It's real."

Dai Hengxin readily gave him 3.2 million.

Xiao Yingchun achieved her goal and was about to say goodbye and leave.

But Dai Hengxin stopped her: "I'll take you

there." "No need, I can just call a car." Xiao Yingchun wanted to refuse.

Dai Hengxin mentioned the sports bag without question: "You dare to take a taxi with this thing in your hand? What are you thinking?"

Xiao Yingchun: "Then I'll trouble you."

Dai Wangnian was sitting and drinking tea, and when he heard this, he knew that there were good things in the bag.

His eyes lit up, and he looked at Dai Hengxin and then at the bag eagerly.

Dai Hengxin pretended not to notice his uncle's expression, and just asked his uncle to help him watch the store, and sent Xiao Yingchun away.

Xiaomei saw Dai Wangnian coming over and knew that there were indeed good things, and the boss had not yet made a clear decision, so he asked someone to help confirm.

Unexpectedly, not long after, Dai Hengxin drove Xiao Yingchun to send her, and even opened the car door for Xiao Yingchun himself, which made Xiaomei even more certain.

After Dai Hengxin sent Xiao Yingchun away, he made an appointment with Xiao Yingchun to pick her up for dinner later. When he returned to the store, Dai Wangnian's eyes were wide open, and his face was full of curiosity.

"What kind of treasure is it? Why do you have to send it back in person?"

  Dai Hengxin hesitated for

a moment, "It's a lacquerware inlaid with gold and silver threads and mother-of-pearl." After a pause, Dai Hengxin added, "It's made of agarwood."

Dai Wangnian's eyes almost popped out: "!!! Such a wonderful thing, you won't let me see it?"

Dai Hengxin glanced at his uncle and said, "She doesn't plan to sell it. Besides, even if she dares to sell it, would you or I dare to buy it?"

  Dai Wangnian was silent.

Although he was obsessed with ancient artifacts, he knew that the red line should not be crossed.

Dai Wangnian crossed his arms in confusion, leaning back on the mahogany sofa and looking at Dai Hengxin: "What is the origin of this little girl? How can she have so many good things?"

Dai Hengxin thought for a moment and said, "She is from my grandfather's village. Her family runs a small store. Her parents died in a car accident last year..."

He roughly explained the news he had learned from his grandfather.

Dai Wangnian understood. "This thing couldn't have been left to her by her parents. Where did it come from?"

Dai Hengxin wanted to know, too. "I agreed to treat her to lunch at noon. Can you help me look after the shop?"

Dai Wangnian's heart burned, not caring if helping out as a doctoral supervisor diminished his status.

"Remember, kid, she must have some good stuff. Be careful what you say and don't offend her."

"If she has something to sell you, as long as it's within the acceptable range, pay a high price. Not being stingy will give you another chance."

  Dai Hengxin laughed. "I know..."

If he hadn't had this in mind, how could he have given her 3.2 million yuan without a single stutter?

Antiques are different from other things. If there's too much of the same thing, it loses its value.

Can a gold ingot with only one in existence be priced the same as one with many?

  Those are completely different things...

Xiao Yingchun had just gotten out of the car and opened the shop door when someone walked in. It was Ye Yubin.

Ye Yubin was still wearing a T-shirt, shorts, and flip-flops, but his expression was frighteningly serious. "Xiao girl, who was that person who just brought you back?"

Xiao Yingchun was so startled that she almost dropped her gym bag!

When she saw it was Ye Yubin, she patted her chest and gasped, "Uncle Ye, you scared me to death!"

Ye Yubin said nothing, staring intently at Xiao Yingchun, as if to say, "I won't stop until you tell me."

Xiao Yingchun was touched, but also a little nervous: she couldn't let Ye Yubin know about the gold ingots she was selling. After a moment

's thought, she decided to confess: "That was Grandpa Zhao's grandson."

  "Zhao Jiping?"

  Xiao Yingchun nodded.

Ye Yubin clearly hadn't expected this. After a moment's thought, he asked, "What does his grandson do?"

Xiao Yingchun half-seriously replied, "He runs a pawnshop on the corner. I heard he's a top graduate from a top university."

"He came to see Grandpa Zhao the other day and recognized me while buying something in my shop. We've met twice before in other places..."

Ye Yubin's imagination had indeed shifted. "Is that so..." Are the two young people dating?

Xiao Yingchun, still clutching twenty million yuan worth of goods and not yet having time to put them into the system's memory, anxiously asked, "Uncle Ye, if you have nothing else to do, I'll go up first."

Ye Yubin stopped her, "Xiao girl, I know you've had a hard time the year after your parents passed, but you can't get lost..."

Ye Yubin had heard the neighbors gossiping about Xiao Yingchun's store being very busy these past few days.

Cart after cart of goods were being brought in, but no one was taking them away. He was afraid they were taking advantage of the dark.

What kind of business needs to be hidden?

  It must be something shady!

Ye Yubin had been saved by Xiao Yingchun, and now that her parents were gone, he felt a responsibility to look after her and remind her.

But upon arriving, he saw from a distance a million-dollar Mercedes-Benz bringing Xiao Yingchun home.

A beautiful young woman being brought home in a luxury car, luggage in hand, so

Ye Yubin grew even more worried, convinced Xiao Yingchun had strayed from the right path.

Xiao Yingchun felt a chill run down her spine: "True."

Those carts of goods were coming in through the front door and leaving through the back.

But everyone in the village knew the back door was a dead end, with no way out.

Seeing only the entrance and no exit would certainly arouse suspicion from an outsider.

Xiao Yingchun took a deep breath and nodded solemnly: "Uncle Ye, thank you for reminding me. I didn't tell anyone before, but I recently opened an online store, and business has picked up a bit."

"Sometimes I get orders, sometimes working late into the night..."

This would explain why Xiao Yingchun's store was often closed.

Ye Yubin nodded when he heard this: "You young people are very smart. I heard that e-commerce and the Internet can be very profitable if done well. Just don't go down the wrong path..."

Ye Yubin rambled on for a long time, his words full of worry.

Xiao Yingchun patiently coaxed Ye Yubin away, and while no one was around, he put the things into the system space. After thinking for a while, he sent a message to Dai Hengxin, asking him if he had any connections to help rent a warehouse nearby.

Dai Hengxin replied immediately: "I have a friend who works in warehousing and logistics. I'll ask for you."

Before Xiao Yingchun could reply, Dai Hengxin called him: "He must have a warehouse, but I'm not sure if it meets your requirements. How about I take you to see it directly?"
